- For this episode of ADSR we were lucky enough to have Stone's Throw artist Jonti invite us over to talk about how he produced his debut album Twirligig. In ADSR fashion we run through his synths, his music writing process and his favourite software.
Jonti is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist and has been making music for years. He has already worked with the likes of Mark Ronson, Hodgy Beats, Santigold, Jon Wayne and more.
Its very hard to imagine just how Jonti composes. As Peanut Butter Wolf said "the arrangements blew me away. I couldnt figure out how the hell he did what he did". Luckily for us Jonti gives us an insight into how he does it and shows us his live MAX/MSP visual setup too.

@midnightdonuts Dave Brubeck Quartet - The City is Crying.
sampling is so much easier than what he does. lol not sure why he would envy a good sampler. i can sample quite well but nowhere near the greatness of his multi-instrumentalist style.
@nataliasmakeup Thanks for watching.... He uses Polar... part of Digital Performer
I think thats a live version of one of his Twirligig album tracks... will have to see him live to hear the full thing... not a bad thing seeing as his live shows are great!
very amazing individual innit :)
haha i cant blame you or him, its beautiful!
Alrighty, thanks :)
He just did a Boiler Room live video and at 18:30 he starts going crazy with the Telemark... cant post a link here but search for it and youll find it easy :)

@kortfid music jedi Jonti
Please, what is the name of the looping program he uses? I can't quite hear what he says.
Polar... its a sampler in MOTU's Digital Performer... think it just got a big update too but I could be wrong :)
Its a Kalimba. He got that one in South Africa but you can get one on ebay :) There are even Kalimba Kontakt instruments around but the real thing is so cheap and sounds so much better. You should get one
That's what I was thinking; I saw him live with Gotye and Kimbra. I was just wondering if there was any way to get it as a track online. Thanks for the confirmation though :)
aux cable.. best instrument ever
what's the sample he used for nightshift in blue?
