    I just bought a 1981 231 and your video was extremely helpful. I watched it twice before I went to FL to pick it up and bring it back home to NC. Thank you very much!

    I've never been a big Mooney fan. I have a Grumman TIger. But the more I see of Arnaldo's plane, I'm changing my mind. That's a really nice cross country plane.

    • @Aviation101
      @Aviation101  5 лет назад

      Wolficorn I was never really a fan before because of the looks and based on what people had told me about the tight cockpit. Then I got a ton of time and took two check rides in a 1983 J model. Now I am a big fan of Mooney’s. Moral of the story: don’t develop a strong opinion of an aircraft until you get some time in it!

    • @Wolficorntv
      @Wolficorntv 5 лет назад

      @@Aviation101 yeah I've flown in a Mooney Statesman and it was a little cramped. Arnaldo's looks relatively roomy. Can't argue with their speed/economy ratio. BTW, check out my youtube channel if you want to see some of my flying vids. I just got back from Monument Valley yesterday and will have a video for that whenever I get the time.

    In behind the rear seats at the top is a little alcove put there so you can store your Cowboy Hat, because Mooney was built in Texas at Kerrville. I had a 66 M20E for a short time. Great Video very well done.

    Hope to see Arnaldo around Kissimmee sometime soon. I plan to buy my first plane soon after my checkride in 2 weeks and park it there at Kissimmee. Maybe one day i'll meet up with him and get to check out that sweet Mooney!!

    Great informational video . I like the way you explained all of the instrumentation and how they function. Arnaldo seems pretty well up to speed on the operation of the Mooney. It is extremely reassuring to have a CFI in the right seat when you are learning to fly a new airplane. Great job as always in making your videos Josh!

    With the gear indicator the one on the floor is final say as to if the gear is down or not. A Mooney gear system is all connected linkages and that floor indicator is just a metal tab connected to that linkage and a light bulb behind it. So your micro switch may stick or whatever but if the floor indicator says the gear is down, it's down.

  • @mattjohnson2637
    @mattjohnson2637 5 лет назад +2

    I agree as well. I would like to hear more about some of the pros and cons of the Mooney. I follow probably all the aviation channels and many of you have opportunities to fly several different birds and it would be cool to see some videos that are sort of review orientated with a real world mission capable break down. I am looking at buying my first airplane and I keep coming back to the Piper Comanche 250 or 260 for it's relative speed and useful load and I plan to fly a Comanche before I buy one but the chances of me flying other contenders is slim. Videos that allow us commoners to experience the cockpit of different airplanes with out the fuel bill would be both helpful and interesting. Good video Josh!

    I once saw a pilot fly a bonanza that had not flown one in a very long time. Before takeoff, he followed the "lycoming" fuel pump procedure, and turned it on. The bonanza was equipped with a continental engine, and during takeoff the engine was running so rich that it died. Fortunately, the bonanza never left the ground. The pilot proceeded to restart the engine and taxi back to the FBO. He said something was wrong with the engine. Long story short, I read on the panel that the pump should NOT be used for takeoff. This was new to me as I am only a low time pilot who has only had lycoming experience. It was a nonevent, however, it's a memory that I will always have as a reminder to assume nothing in the cockpit. Imagine how much of a complication it could have been if the engine decided to quit 500 feet in the air.

    Afternoon Josh
    As always a supper job!
    I just had a great idea for a great series that you might start, visiting different aircraft manufacturers facility. In fact, you could start with Mooney just because it just down the road a bit. Besides it would give you a lot of reason to fly.

    12:00 You guys just past by KHEZ. I was there today, it's a really nice airport with great FBO service. If you ever decide to go there which I recommend, there is an awesome restaurant called Magnolia Grill. They have all kinds of seafood for reasonable prices. You can get a courtesy car, or a 20 dollar cab ride which is only a 15-20 minute drive.

      Slight correction on your video josh. When describing the turbo you are correct that the pressure of air increases and produces more power but it’s not due to the pressure increase. The increased power is due to the much higher concentration of available oxygen within the cylinder. The extra oxygen mixed with the fuel allows for a more rapid expansion after ignition which provides the additional power.

    • @jerryghannam
      @jerryghannam 5 лет назад

      Also, why are you pulling from one tank at a time rather than both at the same time?

    You talked about the ELT. Maybe you can do a video about the ELT. How it works and how it is used to find someone that needs help. The same radio frequency is used for aircraft, boats, hikers, and many others. The CAP, helps find the receiver in aircraft, ground vehicles, and on foot. The big change in the past years is the SARSAT! I lost count of on the number of SARSATs that are up now. Most of the satellites going up in the past about 20 years has the SARSAT pack on it. New ELT send information not just a tone. Some give the GPS of the ELT.
