The thing people forget is back in those days there were so many components to buy to have a complete experience. When we talk about the post game content in gen 1 and gen 2 I still firmly believe that both Pokemon stadium games were the end game content. Stadium 1 allowed you to complete the Pokédex by giving rewards such as starters, fossils, and Chan/Lee. Stadium 2 even had the move relearner after beating the elite 4. Unlocking x2 and x3 speed on stadium 2 also made shiny hunting through breeding so much better. Especially if you know how the hue egg previewer worked in oaks lab.
These added features were so cool but like you said, it required a lot of gear and given that many were kids asking adults to buy it all for them it was certainly difficult to obtain it all
Nice video! What a cool concept for such an early Nintendo title! It's one of the reasons why I love Pokemon so much; transferring Pokemon to different games.
It's definitely a cool feature and the transfer from Game Boy games to Pokémon Transfer to Pokémon Home is a neat evolution of that. Thanks for watching! 😊
Did this back in the day with my yellow version but on stadium 1. Remember being surprised how the pikachu starter still keeps its anime cry even when transferred into stadium.
This is so freaking impressive to me and the little things like "load little" "load max" is such a neat option, I love the developers of Pokemon Stadium! They put more effort into 3D Pokemon than GameFreak has even to this day, so sad.
Best thing about this was some shortcuts. You could put a drink (water, soda, lemonade) into the color box in Oak's Lab, withdraw it in another game before reaching Celadon (like right after Cerulean) and enter Saffron city by giving the drink to one of the guards, as they're thirsty and won't let you pass into Saffron until after you buy a drink in Celadon.
@@SvennyMcG More like it's an oversight. In the original Stadium 1, items were storeable, but they were tied to the Trainer ID and the game was limited to four trainers per game (to take advantage of the one per controller port, but if you just swapped carts it was the same thing) so items couldn't be shared between games. In Stadium 2, they changed it and made two separate boxes, items for trainers who use the Gen 2 games (Metal Case) and for the Gen 1 games (Color Case) and any game as long as they belonged to those gens could deposit and withdraw items as long as they weren't key items. Really useful if say you want to use the missingno item duplication glitch to glitch rare candies and master balls and transfer them to a different file or duplicate TMs to use in Stadium 2 to teach moves. But due to the items the thirsty guards required are obtainable later on being regular items, someone could just deposit a drink in the color case for another earlier file to use. Technically speaking, you can't get into Saffron until you reach Celadon, which is a whole trek and a half to go through. So they fixed it in the Gen 3 remakes (as you could make Pokémon hold items) and made it so you had to get a specific Key Item to quench the guards' thirst, make it so you play the game they intended for you to play.
Very cool, I wasn't aware that they fixed that up in the updated versions too. Appreciate your Pokémon knowledge here, you clearly are a Pokémon Master! 🙌
For that purpose, this device is fantastic! It's too bad they didn't expand the use of the Transfer Pak to more games in the Game Boy game library but at least the SNES & GameCube had options

Great video! I have a question for you. At the 2:00 mark, it shows the “??? Save File Not Found.” I have this showing as well on Pokémon Stadium 2 when I put in Gold and Silver. This however does not occur when I put in Red, Blue, or Yellow. And the weird thing is when I go to GB tower, I can still play Gold and Silver where I left off and can still save. I just can’t register Pokémon or use my Pokémon on the cartridges when trying to play any of the cups in Pokémon Stadium. Gold and Silver also work flawlessly when I play on my GB. This "Warp" function basically acts as that buffer so you can transfer characters from Red / Blue / Yellow into Pokémon Stadium 2 and then onwards from the N64 to Silver / Gold using the Transfer Pak 😊
Because in terms of the games, Gen 2 takes place two years after the events of Gen 1. When playing a Gen 1 game on Pokémon Stadium 2, it treats it as a Gen 2 game for the purposes of Stadium 2, but also places similar restrictions to the Time Machine: no Gen 2 moves or Pokémon could be transferred over to the Gen 1 games.
