    For those of you considering the upgrade-what’s the biggest reason pushing you to make the switch? Or if you’re sticking with an older model, what’s keeping you from upgrading?

      12th gen is 25% faster zooming and scrolling. Bigger LCD, 6.8" to 7.0". Better dark mode.

      I have an Oasis and I love it, but the battery is dying. I need to charge it every few days. Not the end of the world, but it's an annoyance. I wish there was a new Oasis! But I'll go for the Kindle 12 soon.

    I bought the 12th gen paperwhite and the official vegan leather case the other day, I can confirm the kindle does not switch off when you close the case flap, it goes off after a few minutes, but it does wake up the second you open the case.

    The Sleep Timer is in Settings>Device Options>Sleep Timer=4th from the bottom (above Power Saver)

      Whisper sync is my 4th from top. Some don’t have that sleep mode option. But if we turn on pawed saver, it’ll do its own sleep mode.

    I have the 12th Gen Kindle and can modify the sleep timer in settings. I don't have the official cover, I bought a cheap case on Temu. I know if I open the case the kindle wakes up from sleep.

    It’s my first Kindle. And I felt it was weird that there is no sleep timer function. It goes to sleep after 10 minutes and there’s no way to change it. 10 minutes of battery life with light on is a lot.
    I really hope the function is coming back in a future update.

      Settings
      Device options
      Power saver - turn on
      We don’t have a sleep mode option in the menu. But turning on power saver activates a sleep mode.

    What about the warm light uniformity? It has been noticed that almost every unit has some degree of this issue. Especially at the bottom of the device it's the screen is noticeably warmer. I think I see it in your video but it's hard to notice on a video.

    There’s a bug on the new one with the time. I use 24 hour but when going into the book it shows 12 hour. It 24 hour in the menu and home

    I own both. It's not even a big upgrade over my 6th gen kindle.

    No sleep timer is utterly ridiculous. It's essential on a device like this. How on earth was this omitted!?

    • @BeccaJay
      @BeccaJay Месяц назад +1

      I know. But you have to turn on power saver instead. It’ll do its own timed sleep mode. Took me forever to learn this!

      Hey Francesco. Thanks for leaving the comment. I will be releasing a video on Kindle 11th gen, the basic model, and comparing it to Kobo Clara Colour and BW.
      If you've been using Clara and happy with the interface, their book store, performance; I think Clara or Libra are great options. Also, colour is nice if you have PDF or read magazines, comics, things like that.
      I would also recommend waiting on Black Friday as I would imagine we will some good discounts. Hope this helps!

    Does the new paperwhite support immersion reading?

    • @howtotechstuff
      @howtotechstuff  2 месяца назад

      Hey Diane, not directly. A workaround I've just tested is to use Voice view screen reader.

    Do you prefer it to the Kobo Libra color/2? This PW12 is cheaper at $75. 😭

    • @howtotechstuff
      @howtotechstuff  2 месяца назад +2

      Both are great. For reading books, I'd go with PW12. If you need colour for comics/PDFs, note taking and physical buttons; go for Kobo Libra Colour.

    As a reviewer, you should not showing or comparing e-reader screen with front light on all the time like that, It's not a core value of an e-ink screen. Light is just for night reading only, 1 use-case not all, since when people treat an e-ink device like and LCD like this? It'll take a lot advantage of e-ink screen since reduce battery quite a lot and less good for your eyes...

    I don’t think that the new gen is worth the upgrade. In my opinion it’s for people who want to get their first PPW or currently have some older device already- as you said. Basically them saying that you now can get a new device instead of the 3 year old one they sold before.
    I was one of those people who waited for the new gen to test it out- and coming from my Pocketbook, I love it. I was afraid about locking myself to their store (which I don’t think even has books in my language), but sideloading works perfectly fine on my end

      I'm waiting for the Colorsoft to come out and see side-by-side comparisons.
      I'm coming from a Kindle paperwhite 8GB 2021. I can see from reviews available for the new Kindle versions that an update is needed for me.
      I tried the Kobo Sage and it was Awful - ghosting was annoying, the unit was horribly slow, and the side buttons were more in the way than useful.
      I'm eyeing the Onyx Boox 7 Go Color but again, will wait for the reviews and comparisons with the Colorsoft first.
