the pacing is so bizarre in this episode.. like, borderline uncomfortable with all the pauses, unmoving characters, choppy animation, etc. there's a lot that could be done with the plot in 21 min but it seemed lacking in content compared to other episodes ngl I can certainly appreciate the moral of this one, but it can also be misconstrued. there are 'pretty' people who are interesting and/or nice, and 'ugly' people who are boring and/or unpleasant. most fall somewhere in-between. looks and personality aren't mutually exclusive. I know it's a "kids show" and it's not that deep, but it can create some black-and-white types of thinking in children -- and as this ep. pointed out, young minds are easily susceptible. you really can't blame kids when they start caring about their looks - it's human and inevitable. at that age, I think a lot of it comes down to balance, realism, and meeting halfway. but it's kinda fun to see how stuff like this is handled in media then vs today.
