Hi Barry. Midge Ure never sang/recorded this song in the studio. This is just one of my little projects to see how it may have sounded with Midge at the helm.
Top vid Astradyne. Wow you were right this a departure from the original with Ure's live vocal mixed with the studio version and it has to be said it does sound good.
Thanks as always for the positive input Lenny. I had to do a lot of treatment on Midge's vocals to take off that live edge and make them sound more studio orientated then using software to make them fit the track as the live version is at a different tempo. It turned out well though.
Yes it did Astradyne it would be interesting to hear Foxx singing Vienna wouldn't it though i think his vocal range would not suit it how about a Ure/studio mix of Quiet Man that would be awesome!!!!
@@lennyrussell8954 Lenny, you read my mind. It's on the to do list so will be started soon. I'm currently working on a track from "Quartet" which should appear in the next few days. I'm also thinking about starting a Facebook group which, of course, you'd be more than welcome to join.
What a great idea to mix in midges vocals from early live 1979 performance! I love this!!!
Good idea !
Never heard Ure sing this!
He does well, but Foxx is uniquely atmospheric and mysterious..🖤
INSANE song..absolutely epic 🌹

@@TheAstradyne Is this a live recording of Ure actually singing it?
@@barrysmith8920 The music is the original studio recording. The vocals are Midge Ure singing it in 1980 not long after he joined the band.

I’ve never heard Midge sing this before. Interesting but…I prefer John Foxx’s vocals.
