In American college football a few year ago during one of the big rival games, one team kicked a field goal at the last second to win the game, but then one of the players taunted with a rude gesture which is a penalty. The kicker had to make the attempt again five yards further back and he missed it, losing the game. One of the best fails that i ever saw.
Some people don't like the taunting penalty but when I see 60 year old men threatening each other at Old Man Softball with their wives cheering them on it's no mystery why women quit the "sport" by age 25. John Madden said it best, "Sports doesn't build character, it reveals character". When the catcher is chasing you with a cane it kind of took all the fun out of a harmless game. I can't wait to get taunted at Pickle Ball by a guy named Mongo who has a $250 carbon fiber paddle.
Don Beebe was one of the most underrated and underestimated athletes in the history of the NFL. His incredible speed belied his short (by NFL standards) stature and he was a key player for many years in Buffalo. One hell of a receiver!
Notre Dame celebrating their victory of USC in 2005 until the referees put a few seconds back on the clock (QB tackled and ball went out of bounds) and then USC beat them with the last play as time expired! INSTANT CLASSIC!
Most of these athletes train hard af to win and to loose it over something as stupid as celebrating early must destroy them. Such a shame. That is a really hard lesson to learn and probably one that haunts them to this day.
I love early celebration fails. It brings arrogant showoffs down a peg, if only for a moment. Nothing wrong with celebrating in general, though they can get out of hand as well.
I have seen a football game, it was Lsu football team vs Auburn Football, it was 2016, but it ened up that Lsu had an illeged shift, the clock went to zero.
Mark Martin is a bona fide racing icon. No fan ever hated him. No driver disliked him. If mark Martin disliked you, you sucked. But that mistake was frankly shocking especially for someone like him.
Outside of perhaps Richard and Kyle Petty, NASCAR had few ambassadors as loved and respected as Mark Martin. Even the greats have a misfire, and Mark owned his mistake.
I think the all time greatest pre celebrate Altogether was the one when the college football Team band came on the field while the ball was still in play, and he ran it back for the touchdown and the win.😂😂
You're referring to the oft celebrated Cal-Stanford (led by John Elway) game, in which Cal's kick return team made multiple laterals and got the ball to a player who had a clear path to the end zone... and Stanford's trombone player.
mark martin going on pit road a lap early at Bristol and finished at the end of the lead lap, I was born after this but I still think this was insane especially giving how i saw him race later on However not nascar series rather race in the Winston cup series
I was lucky enough to see those 5 straight Grey Cup wins. Commonwealth Stadium can hold 56,302, when that drops to 26,000 the cameras can't hide it. How does anyone lose 22 straight home games?
The Toronto Blue Jays should not be in this video. Considering that was their first division title (and playoff appearance) in 23 years, they had every right to celebrate, even if they didn't end up winning the World Series
What's weird is that in American football, you can't taunt by celebrating too early before a touchdown. Otherwise, that costs the 6 points and a 15-yard penalty.
@13:02 there is a better version of that. the 1999 wnba finals. houston was with no time left. the balloons began to descend from the rafters, when theresa witherspoon hit a full court heave to tie the series up.
I thinks the moral of this video is to never celebrate until you actually won the game. A lesson many people, sports or esports, seems to keep forgetting.
In a college basketball game between Kansas State and Colorado, a K-State player got a steal on a late inbound pass, celebrating too early and getting called for traveling. Colorado made their second chance shot to beat the Wildcats.
Maybe Yoko Ono had him dug up, sure sounds like him. It got worse in 2018 when they had a "super-model" as a flag girl. She was so busy admiring her own hair she waved the checkered flag one lap early.
I would have included that one game the Wichita Wingnuts Celebrated a victory against the Winnipeg Goldeyes thinking they had a run but it turned out to be a balk.....and this was a playoff game, that went into so many innings!!! The Goldeyes ended up winning that game and the championship
“Hitting nothing but net, you ain’t seen nothing yet! Man, you needed a movement because you’re so full of s***! I’m a better athlete and a better MC! Battle me two more times, watch me get a three peat!” Michael Jordan
Nick Young wasn't a star player, but he was a very good NBA player. Their relationship once soured after D'Angelo Russell revealed that Young had cheated on him, but now Russell has apologized to Young and they have reconciled.
The goaltender's name is pronounced "WAH". I would think someone at WatchMojo would know how to say it correctly, considering the site is based in Montreal, and that he spent about the first decade of his career with the Canadiens.
7:04 Patrick Roy: is pronounced like Waugh, I know confusion when I first seen it and was like That's Roy (R-Oy) Waugh is prounced like (Wa- ah) only reason I find the mistake even funnier😂 the announcer prounced it correct right after the voice over
These players have forgotten the old saying " Ain't over, until it's over " and " it's not over until Fat Lady Sings" there is the reason for these sayings, keep playing until the clock ends or the finish line, think before you do
“Here comes Jordan, big tongue wobbling. Flying through the air like a big dumb goblin. You’re the only bull that’s uglier than Rodman. Messing with me is gambling, you got a problem!”Muhammad Ali
2002 LSU at Kentucky, with 2 seconds to go Kentucky is up by 3 and gives their coach a gatorade shower, only for LSU to connect on a 70 yard hail mary and win the game.
Why did Philadelphia get the ball at the 1-yard line after DeSean Jackson dropped it? The Dallas players really blew it, too, if they could have picked up the ball. Maybe it was an inadvertent whistle that gave the Eagles the ball back.
Felipe Massa Ferrari celebrated too early to win the 2008 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix in 2008 November Season Finale with McLaren Mercedes Lewis Hamilton who takes maiden championship win in 2008
Wings fan here. 2002 was one of the sweetest wins of that rivalry. Not as good as 1997, but still sweet. (And i hate to be that person, but it's provided Wa. I dated his cousin lol) ❤
If you're going to narrate a sports video, might be a real good idea to LEARN HOW TO READ A SCOREBOARD. The Netherlands didn't lose 3-4. They lost 4-3 to Puerto Rico.

The REAL moral of the tortoise and hare story...slow and steady nothing! The hare celebrated too early!!
Yep.

"Don't count your chickens before they hatch." Lol

Great video
Shouldn't the Cal-Stanford "The Play" be number one?
Yeah "the band is on the field' but so were players.
Greatest call ever.
The pronunciation of Patrick Roy's name is great haha.
Notre Dame celebrating their victory of USC in 2005 until the referees put a few seconds back on the clock (QB tackled and ball went out of bounds) and then USC beat them with the last play as time expired!
INSTANT CLASSIC!
Love these types of videos never celebrate too early it not over until its over
Remember: Celebrate AFTER crossing the finish line.
Moral of the story? Never, I mean NEVER, celebrate too early!
Patrick Roa. HAHAHAHA. Come on Mojo, you're Canadian!
I can't get over the mispronunciation of Patrick Roy
Thank Don Cherry for that. For someone who thought he was so important he sure disappeared pretty quick
Most of these athletes train hard af to win and to loose it over something as stupid as celebrating early must destroy them. Such a shame. That is a really hard lesson to learn and probably one that haunts them to this day.
Humility will always trump arrogance.
"trump arrogance." Two words that certainly belong together.
Of course Yadi saw that runner at first. All time great catcher.
Sleeping on Yadi never ends well.
@@gregcircanow is he the GOAT?
As a Bills fan, “13 Seconds” still hurts.
Never get to cocky when you’re in 1st place
Yep I enjoyed this video because I always loved and liked when the video is titled has "Celebrating too early"
I still remember that Cleveland Browns game. Linebacker throwing his helmet in celebration while the play continued. Hilarious
Alternate title: Top 20 Premature Celebrations in Sports
"Patrick Row-ah?" Can someone get Rebecca Brayton in here please!
Don Beebe haunts Leon Lett's nightmares.
Dallas used that as a teaching aid, you never slack off no matter the score. Buffalo & Houston, 41-38 in overtime, wish I'd been there.

Also, when Notre Dame's students/fans rushed the field in 2005 against USC before USC won a few seconds later!
It's always funny when cocky people take an L
As a Partizan fan, I will never forget that 0.6 seconds. Dušan Kecman!
Patrick Roy's last name is pronounced Wah like wah pedal NOT Rowah.
To finish first, first you have to finish.
mark martin going on pit road a lap early at Bristol and finished at the end of the lead lap, I was born after this but I still think this was insane especially giving how i saw him race later on
However not nascar series rather race in the Winston cup series
Although his team won, Edmonton Coach celebrated too soon in 2005 Grey Cup
I was lucky enough to see those 5 straight Grey Cup wins. Commonwealth Stadium can hold 56,302, when that drops to 26,000 the cameras can't hide it. How does anyone lose 22 straight home games?
The big money comes from marketing one's image on highlight reels. This has made celebrating in style too important, with these flubs resulting.
Steve Ovett losing to John Treacy should have made the list.
Mocking Treacy and waving to the crowd and then losing.
@13:02 there is a better version of that. the 1999 wnba finals. houston was with no time left. the balloons began to descend from the rafters, when theresa witherspoon hit a full court heave to tie the series up.

Felipe Massa 2008. Brazilian GP 😢
He knew what happened. His family celebrated too early but is a good story.
7:57 - Swaggy P! Shaqtin' a Fool represent!
Bjorn Wirdheim had one season in IndyCar in 2004 and ran ok. But never ran in a big series after that
In a college basketball game between Kansas State and Colorado, a K-State player got a steal on a late inbound pass, celebrating too early and getting called for traveling. Colorado made their second chance shot to beat the Wildcats.
Nick Young, I can appreciate his clap, because it’s almost like he’s acknowledging his mistake.
I'm not even a Football fan & #14 Stings! 😂
5:46 - I didn't know John Lennon was a F1 commentator.
Maybe Yoko Ono had him dug up, sure sounds like him. It got worse in 2018 when they had a "super-model" as a flag girl. She was so busy admiring her own hair she waved the checkered flag one lap early.
“You lived strong; beat cancer. Congratulations! Now I'll drop your a** faster than your own foundation!” Babe Ruth
I would have included that one game the Wichita Wingnuts Celebrated a victory against the Winnipeg Goldeyes thinking they had a run but it turned out to be a balk.....and this was a playoff game, that went into so many innings!!! The Goldeyes ended up winning that game and the championship
How many times did the narrator mispronounce Patrick Roy's name 🤬
You would think runners would learn to put a theoretical finish line a few feet of the actual finish line so they actually cross it.
That Blue Jays entry is dumb lol, every baseball team celebrates when they win their division
“Hitting nothing but net, you ain’t seen nothing yet! Man, you needed a movement because you’re so full of s***! I’m a better athlete and a better MC! Battle me two more times, watch me get a three peat!” Michael Jordan
Watch him get a threepeat then strike out a zillion times in MLB.
Nick Young wasn't a star player, but he was a very good NBA player.
Their relationship once soured after D'Angelo Russell revealed that Young had cheated on him, but now Russell has apologized to Young and they have reconciled.

Nr.1 should be the 4 minutes mastership of Schalke 04 back in 2001...XD XD XD
J.R. Hildebrand crashes on turn 4 off the last lap of the indy 500 because he let go of the wheel to celebrate. Would’ve been the first rookie to win

How JR Smith not on here?😂😂😂😂
Why did Philadelphia get the ball at the 1-yard line after DeSean Jackson dropped it? The Dallas players really blew it, too, if they could have picked up the ball. Maybe it was an inadvertent whistle that gave the Eagles the ball back.
Saskatchewan Roughriders from the 2009 Grey Cup SHOULD be here and the Blue Jays are not really eligible for this list

Wings fan here. 2002 was one of the sweetest wins of that rivalry. Not as good as 1997, but still sweet.
(And i hate to be that person, but it's provided Wa. I dated his cousin lol) ❤
and that's why Cleveland Browns is the worst NFL team EVER!
I don't get that one with the Nascar. They are high end racing cars dont the drivers and crews talk to each other through a helmet based mic?
If you're going to narrate a sports video, might be a real good idea to LEARN HOW TO READ A SCOREBOARD. The Netherlands didn't lose 3-4. They lost 4-3 to Puerto Rico.
14:19 -- I don't get this one...looks like a regular clubhouse celebration to me.
