I could go to hell a million times Max, to dance to the tune of the devil, I could suffer for every ungrateful soul I defiled, burn every part of my body for it, but still... She cocked her head to the side, that damn smug smile plastered on her lips like I'd seen so many times before. I felt the room grow cold. "You agreed to be bound to me; mind, body, and soul." It was true. So damningly true. If only I'd have read the contract more closely. "My dear, the wedding will be soon," she cooed, cupping my face with her soft hands and gently swiping tears away with her thumbs. When had that happened? "Let me go. Let me go," I choked, sobbing. She hushed me and kissed my forehead. "The wedding will be soon," she repeated. "We will need to start making preparations. Let's get some rest, and then we can pick our dresses out in the morning. How does that sound, my darling girl?" Would I ever be free? Would I ever see my family again? My friends? My darling princess, the one who I had risked this all for? I couldn't fight. I could feel the energy being sapped out of my body, and I could do was complacently nod. The queen continued whispering her disgustingly sweet praises in my ears. The only thing to break the miserable silence that fell over me were the occasional gasps and hiccups as tears poured down my face. I didn't read the fine print, and now I was going to pay the price.
