@alex0438 Qué chido, just discovered this album. I graduated HS in ’94. I just read this comment today Jan. 30th 2024 in Washington state. Just moved back after two years in Mexico City. Good times:) Saludos
Not sure why so many (including Moby) look down on this album. This was on constant repeat during my stoner years to lull me to sleep at night. A pre-Play classic when Moby was still a rebel.
it's my favorite .. but it sounds like he used a lot of presets, bought samples and overal just what probably a lot of people produced back then with that devices. the song-structures are basacly what i did with fruityloops when i was 16yo
@@blackstoneriverworkshop7167 ambient music is supposed to be optionally ignorable - to call ambient music simplistic (what you looking for?? lots of notes?) is to miss the point,.,.
Discovered this album 4 years ago on my flight from Seattle to London. It was free on the airline music list. A beautiful discovery for me. Needless to say, we made it to London safe and sound 🛬
Oh cool. Nice story, I lived in Seattle for about 25 years or so. Moved to Mexico city for about the years and now I’m back in Oly, WA. I actually discovered Frank Ocean’s 'Channel Orange’ the same way on a flight from Barcelona to Seattle. Listed to it the whole flight✨
This album really helped me throughout my senior year in high school. I'd play it while studying for quizzes and tests, even listening to this while completing them haha.

I used to fall asleep to this album religiously. Some of his best work. Animal Rights was disliked by most but it's still one of my favorite Moby albums. Including this one of course.
4MAR21 28 years later and we can still play and have fun with this album. InterActive !! Slide the PlayBack Speed Up and Down and find New Grooves from the Master Moby. Hava blessday
Never know why but.. The track Tongues off of this album makes me think of 2000s flash games, just has that vibe- that really nostalgic vibe (that goes for the entire album as well haha). Crazy how old this is, wish it got more recognition and more acclaim... It's ashame that moby's earlier shit is slept on, everybody talks about how 'Play' is his best record like bitch; the majority of those people never listened to his early discography stuff.. But oh well, at least this album means something to me and all the other people who commented here :)

@@thephoenix3155 Yea, such a shame that humans find joy in familiarity. I wish more people would be open to experiencing new things and appreciating them for what they are and the beauty behind.
@Lawrence: It wasnt (genre) really commercially viable back then. I was also writing this kinda music (with the same synth as Mr Moby :P), which would be classed as 'lounge/electronica' nowadays, but then I was told it wasnt marketable (early 90s) as it was a bit of everything/too original. Around the second half of the 90s as downtempo got more of a footing and bands like Stereolab had some releases, Mobys PLAY LP hit in '99 just at the right time as this more 'mixed genre' electronica popped up and he cemented his LP success. So yeah. Timing is everything :D Now the 90s electronica scene is making a revival (I mean rediscovery of those gems)
same goes for all the good 90s music - it was the last time there was enough money in the industry for them to make music really well - since then it's been cost-cutting autotune don't pay for singers or musicians - get your band size down - charge more pay less - and now we have singing daleks everywhere and almost all vocals sound like crap now
richardcarruk what genre? Ambient? Hell NO that genre is very popular and still is till this day. Radiowise it isnt but other forms of media (movies, commercials, video games, etc.) Its everywhere.
Ambient music IS underrated. It's so prolific in movies and games that we often just take it for granted and don't hear the real beauty and genius of the work. Funny thing is, we WOULD miss it if it weren't there anymore. Ambient tracks have their place in our enjoyment of media, and some of the artists who make it deserve more attention than they get.
The second track Heaven has an incredibly punchy snare. I’ve tried to emulate this sound many times, synthesis, sampling etc and I can’t get even close to it. Something intriguing about it is that almost no snare note sounds exactly like the previous one. I wonder if he used an LFO envelope on it or the variation is due to micro timing or an artifact of compression (as it hits at the same time as the kick). Nerdy I know.

Because Super Nintendo Games have had more complex soundtracks, lol. Don't get me wrong, I liked it in 1996 when I heard it and I like it now.
It’s a good album!

+Jelmer van Lenteren The best for my opinion are Play and 18,but Ambient sounds good too

best album for me from moby
This album was playing on my best night of 1994.
Where does time go?
Myopia is the best track from Moby.
It was released in 1993 actually
But what made that night the best night of your life!?
Moby aparte de ser un buen musico tambien es un buen activista por los derechos de los animales. En ambos tiene una trayectoria increible.
Best Moby album by far
