      I describe this win over OSU the exact same way. Hilarious. There are many other ways to describe it. But hilarious is the top. For like a week after the game I would actually bust out laughing while doing random things like driving and putting away dishes, just because I thought about how we actually beat them and Ryan Day standing there shell shocked saying "what happened". It actually makes me thankful for all the losses earlier in the season, because the hilarity wouldn't't have been the same if we were like 8-3 or something going into the game.

    • @MoneyIsSilver
      @MoneyIsSilver Месяц назад

      Most people still don't get why. They think it was just OSU playing bad or Ryan Day coaching bad - but what it really was was that Michigan had the best pass rush and run defense they had seen all year.

    • @Brettwbeyer14
      @Brettwbeyer14 Месяц назад

      @@MoneyIsSilver yes. the dline was so fricken legendary that they could get away with only having 6 in the box allowing for 5 dbs almost every play with half quarters on Jeremiah Smiths side to bracket him then the other safety taking away the 2nd option. then cover 2 on the other side. It was as Steve said it. bracket jeremiah smith, take away that second read then trust the d line to get to Howard before he gets to his 3rd read. he often got to his 3rd read, but it was intermediate routes in the vacated middle area behind the linebackers underneath the safeties. They couldnt do it consistently though with the pass rush and especially not in the red zone.

    Pretend for a second that instead of Texas, UM plays Akron. Then they draw Purdue and UCLA instead of Illinois and I guess Oregon. Michigan probably stumbles into the playoff. However they’re not really any better…. Do we have Bryce Underwood? No. We absolutely do not. The middle of the season was pretty tough to watch. But the guys never quit. They had plenty of buy in. They just didn’t have enough talent on offense. You can add talent to a locker room. Mental toughness? Well, we know what a Michigan team that doesn’t have enough of that looks like. It’s tough to grow that. Successful as 8-5 can possibly be.

    • @CertifiedClapaholic
      @CertifiedClapaholic Месяц назад +2

      Not really. Wink and the defense had to make some adjustments during their bye week because Wink was trying to have these guys do too much. That's why they constantly looked slow and confused for the first half of the season. He simplified their responsibilities and the defense took off.

      Wink wasn’t good for the first portion of the season then he made adjustments and was good…

    • @MoneyIsSilver
      @MoneyIsSilver Месяц назад

      @@CertifiedClapaholic That's not the case at all. Michigan held onto a lot of guys for 2023 - some dude's were 6th year seniors starting. So last year was a defense of almost all new starters. All defenses need time to gel as players find their roles and become accustomed to the abilities of their teammates (like how much they can cover, how fast they are, etc.). These guys were talented and well coached from the beginning, but just needed to gel and get used to the system.

    • @MoneyIsSilver
      @MoneyIsSilver Месяц назад

      @@CertifiedClapaholic Also, bear in mind that all season the offense was putting the defense in crappy situations and couldn't stay on the field long enough to give the defense rest. Despite all that, we still had one of the best rushing defenses in college.

      @CertifiedClapaholic Месяц назад

      @MoneyIsSilver yes, it literally IS the case. I understand the defense was put in bad positions by the offense, but go back and watch the games. After the bye week, they were flying around and looked like last year's defense.

    I'm not making excuses for their losses, you have to beat the best teams to be champions, however.... When three of those losses were against CFP teams and a fourth against a really good Illinois bowl winning team, things definitely look a little different than the record shows. Especially with a win over a fourth CFP team and another highly ranked one just outside of the playoffs. After losing so much talent to the NFL, players and coaches, I think it's impressive what first year coach Moore as done with so little time and options. The identities of a lot of these playoff teams will look a lot different next year and I think Michigan will be in a great position to make a run at another B1G Conference championship and playoff spot. If they were playing the same teams they did last year they would be lucky to finish at 7-5.

    Michigan should be doing better with skilled positions. Running back is not an issue, but WRs dont want to come here given the most recent history of being a run heavy offense. We should also be pulling in elite corners, Edge rushers and DL in general... They develop very well here and for some reason teams out recruit us that quite frankly shouldn't be. Admissions also need to get their heads out of their asses when it comes to credits. Fans don't care about a kid playing school, the kid has to care about that. We want true ballers, that's what we pay the money for, for tickets and jerseys etc.

      You do realize the play calling over the last "38-40" minutes reflects OSU being 3 to 4 scores ahead? So, to answer your question, OSU would not have "slowed" their offensive play calling had they not scored 27 - 34 in the first quarter.

It's just since it's a legal to pay players where all schools have always done it now you go out and see how you did in that . Just because your going pay a big shot high school player bunch of money doesn't guarantee you anything ask Ohio State even or other universities when it's game day nothing else matters. Yes Michigan finished better. We all knew they were probably not going be like the season before . Actually I kind of respect this team more cause no cheating garbage is in the news Harbaugh is gone
