Brian Blessed's laughter, his kind, elegant manners and genuine humanity are some of the things I'm never getting tired of.
This gentle giant of a man is a real treasure.
I agree, it is a pity you don't see this sort of charm, manners and decency so much, a lot could learn from his example
@@mavisformula can we clone him? We are losing the greats so fast!
A true gentleman, in every sense of the word.
How does anyone not just fall in love with Brian Blessed immediately? He has the perfect name. I always feel Blessed every time I see him!
I agree, as an American I haven't seen him quite as much as the Brits would have, but I do like him he's charismatic and funny his mannerisms remind me of the classic Santa Claus.
I was thinking the same thing.
An absolute delight!
Indeed... I’ve been a fan since my first encounter with his acting on Space 1999 back in the 70s.
What you wrote is wonderful x
Such a lovely man.He was so involved with everyone.
No coward soul is mine
No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere
I see Heaven's glories shine
And Faith shines equal arming me from Fear.
I am from Texas and have no idea who this guy is - but how can you not like him and love his enthusiasm. What a great spirit he has.
Dude look up this man’s clips on RUclips. He has stories for days! It’s like a unreal epic character you hear about in stories.
He was in the movie Flash Gordon and also in a lot of Shakespeare plays. He is best known for Flash Gordon though when he finds out Flash is alive, he says, "GORDON'S ALIVE???" If you type in that into RUclips you'll find it.
The first season of Blackadder is a must. He's larger than life.
Brian Blessed acted in some of the BlackAdder series. Do look him up there as you will be amused no end.
I offer , merely as an example, this snippet for your delectation.

@@Joekidd1961 He is also an explorer, He has climbed Mount everest, been a zoo keeper and kept animals
What he said at the end about his ancestor. The emotion.
My God, what a beautiful man.
Thank you, he is a blessed soul, and a Honorary Wallace from the Clan Wallace in Scotland.
Brian Blessed just makes the world a better place. He's like Newfoundland dogs, sparrows and Laurel and Hardy films.
He is the human embodiment of an exclamation point
Well said!
"Well I''ll be buggered" ... "I'll be damned." Hahaha - he's got a lovely turn of phrase has our Brian. Blessed by name, Blessed by nature!
A good egg, indeed.
I am so glad the two brothers Jabez and Barnabus were able to reconnect as adults.
Agreed, I think that moment is one of the best in the entire series, comparable to Charles Dance finding out about his half-sister.
I wonder if it was an uncommon last name. Maybe someone commented to one of the men they they'd met someone with the same last name in another town. That may explain it. However it happened, how wonderful.
Maybe they new each other from the get go... maybe Jabez ran away from the workhouse to shack up with this brother
@@bigman25plus25 That's kind of what I think. They planned this together.
@@sbonnet2004 imagine the tension of going to another town to see if he's really your brother and then to see the doors open and it's really him.
Im from Louisiana & i didn't know who this amazingly enthusiastic man is & his name is my favorite word, Blessed. His story is sad but happily ever after! I was in tears when he said this line when he "talked" to Jabez. This is truly a wonderful history. ❤✌🏾
pride of England he is haha
I cried along side you Mr Blessed. life isn't about money , it's about perseverance, courage , and resilience. loving life, and living positive.
My absolute favourite. What a treasure. And so personally affected by the life of his family members.
He seems to have been around for ever ,I remember him in Z Cars in the 60s and he hardly seems to have changed over the years.
This story could be a movie.. "Brothers Blessed"
Yes! Great movie idea.
"Guts, courage and imagination, this is what life is about" amazingly true words
as a man with multiple brothers, the feeling you get knowing you find your brother and know their good is the most wonderful thing.
“He didn’t need the purple pill! Randy lad!” 😂 gotta love Brian Blessed.
Brian, as you found “guts, courage, and imagination” in your forefathers, I begin thinking about my own previous generations that came to an urban life from the farm and prospered through hardship and trial...Amazing.
Here in Australia with the CV, many are looking to buy land away from the cities now. To escape disease if it comes again in our generation.
Flash Gordon 1980, Blackadder 1st series.. quite a few old films. He was also a theatre actor. Lovely guy.
Brian Blessed gets more adorable every time I watch one of these videos with him. I love how engrossed he becomes in the information. He just has that great personality. And when you do genealogy research for a long time, it becomes so easy to form bonds of a sort with some of the characters you meet in your family tree.
Jabez, I'm sure, would have been very very proud of Brian
@Montgomery15 Snooker Videos It made me cry too
He definetly would. Who wouldn't be, he's so kind
This is the most touching episode I have seen of this. Brian Blessed like your Great Great Grandfather Jebez you too are an extraordinary man. I am so happy for you to have gone through this journey and thank you for sharing it with the world.
Thank you, he is a blessed soul, and a Honorary Wallace from the Clan Wallace in Scotland.
Blessed don't need the Purple Pill.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😂🙏✌🏼❤️
Going by his great-great grandsons enormous level of charisma I'd say Jabez would have been a fantastic salesman.
My thoughts were 'the apple hasn't fallen far from that particular tree "😂
I fell in love with Brian Blessed as a child. I can go years without seeing him but this has been such a wonderful journey for him to share and I love him as much as ever.
So strange to hear my county finally getting recognition :D I live in Grimsby and have traveled (by foot) all over this beautiful Lincolnshire. I have been to Brigg, Winterton and everywhere inbetween. Interesting to think i may have walked the same path as Brian Blessed AND his ancestors. Truly marvelous to me, may God bless him and his lineage.
My great great grandmother was from Wellingore in Lincolnshire. We have been to the Cliff Villages south of Lincoln many times. The countryside there feels like home even though we were born and grew up in the US.
Brian Blessed, such a happy, beautiful man. Always loved his work.
"There was nothing wrong with him, was there? He didn't need the purple pill"....I died.
I simply live this man and his passion for life - and yes I believe him when he says he never cried, not even as a baby.
Brian Blessed , a national treasure , one truly amazing man . .
When you learn about your ancestors and then visit their graves, you really can feel like you are meeting them, you are relating to, or with, them. It's genuine, what Brian Blessed is feeling here.
His visit to his ancestors grave was priceless to watch ♡
What a wonderful human being Brian blessed is.
I just love Brian...he FEELS his ancestors.
"He was a randy lad, he served his country well!" I love Brian Blessed. Modern Britain needs more 'randy lads'.
Instead of just importing jihadis.
@@OffGridInvestor Thanks for spoiling a decent sentiment with moronic, ignorant xenophobia.. really doing your country proud too, I'm sure.
This man is so wholesome
I keep coming back to this video. he talks with so much love in his voice. makes me feel warm inside .❤
I love this Brian is one of my fav's . When doing my Genealogy I hear my Uncles saying " Why were they in London " Brought back many memories. so Happy His story had a wonderful ending.
What a wonderfully moving recital celebrating the life of those before him.... such vigour and poise. Thank you for sharing.
One of the best I have seen. What a lovely, caring and enthusiastic man Brian is. A national treasure.
BRIAN BLESSED!
Just when you thought you couldn't love Blessed any more...
Brian Blessed is such a treasure of a man! So full of life. He will always be one of my favorites to watch no matter what he does.
Brian Blessed is such a joy to watch he’s reactions are just perfect
Exasperated Joy-the persona and personality of Brian Blessed. One of my favorites.
So full of life even at this great age ,thank god for this man
I read Emily Bronte's poem No Coward Soul Is Mine at my mum's funeral.
I so love to her him speak with such expression and enthusiasm!
That was so wonderful ! What a man !
There's a movie here.
There really is.
I have no idea who Brian is but i think i love him lol
Beautiful human being.
Somehow I feel the description saying "Several children" is an understatement.
I must be hormonal as i cried when he was at the grave!
"No purple pill for Jabez..." lol... ;)
I love Brian Blessed, what a character
What a wonderful conclusion to ones history ..especially through such terrible traumatic events to find a a family members who survived to be successful in the own right. One of the most moving life stories of this series Brian what wonderful gift ..
You sort of forget how lucky us younger generations are to have as much access to family and information as we do. Brian sought out information about his great-great-grandfather, as he didn't know what he did for a living, how long he lived for, where he lived and who he was married to, not even his name...I've met two of my great-great-grandparents.
Just shows the absolute leaps and bounds we've made in the last 100+ years 💜💜💜
1:55 Can just hear the walls: 'You took your bloody time' :-)
What a lovely man
Brian blessed is a national treasure
One of our countries greatest ever actors. Total legend 🇬🇧
I can relate to Brian's elation. When I began looking for my Great Great Grandfather all the family knew was that he had died of "the fever" in a Civil War training camp in Texas. Apparently NOT even his ONLY son (my Great Grandfather) that was born the same year he died ever knew his father's name. After a few years of cross checking military record, marriage records and the like I found his name, a name that had been lost to the family for 3 Generations, Evan! Sitting in the library, looking at the microfilmed record I felt like yelling just like Brian did!
I so love Brian's passion.
Heart-warming - the will to live and triumph over adversity.
To put the Poor House behind you and significant flowering is phenomenal - perhaps there was a secret life in it not yet known.
What an absolutely adorable man with such a truly Favored family. Much Love Brian Blessed 🥰🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Omg... what a rollercoaster! Totally crying ...his emotional words about his Ancestor had me bawlin...😢😭😭
So glad this ended the way it did for him...such a lovely man.
He is a National treasure. I love that man!
I just love Brian Blessed.
This man is over the top and I love it! ❤️
The graveyard scene at the end is utterly moving.
The brothers truly were blessed...
He was perfect as "The Great Augustus" in "I Claudius".
What a rollercoaster of a history. Forces the emotion out of you. Just like Brian's final exhausted tears.
What a delightful man to watch😊
In the scriptures, Jabez asked the Lord to bless him. This is a story of Jabez being blessed in the 1800s. Amazing!!!
Was just thinking the same thing.
heartbreaking - heartwarming - wonderful that there were lives well lived... to honour them is the very least we can do... crying with you Brian.
Couldn't have a better thing said about someone's life than "you lived life, a great example".
Awww! I cried with him. ❤️
Yes me too
Bless all the Blesseds! "No Coward's Soul is Mine" xx
I heard that as "Noël Coward's soul is mine" the first time around.
Amazong. This is just like something Sir Charles Dickens wrote about in his novels Great Expectations and David Copperfield.
It's extraordinary how Jaybez and his children survived the horror of the workhouses.
What a beautiful man he is ❤
After reading his book, I cannot tell you what an impact it had looking at his great great grandfather’s grave, which made him cry. Brian Blessed never cried once in his life, even as a baby. This was a very profound moment for him.
What a national treasure this man is
This is beautiful the emotion nearly overwhelms
I love this man, he's so interested in everything and warm and kind
How very honest he is. I love that. So sad that the girls did not make it but hooray for the gutsy boys
We in America on a clear night can actually hear Brian Blessed's voice booming across the Atlantic sometimes
This is the most emotional who do you think they are ive watched
Anyone else cry when Brian spoke to Jabez?
Yep
What a charming man!
Brian is so lovely
I don’t know who this man is, but I’ve come to adore him while watching his search.
Your family is proud of the actor as well ❤️
My dear Brian, I want you to know that all this country loves you ... especially Scotland, Chin up old bean and stay happy.
A personality bigger than the man himself.
Truly one of the best stories
Brian sounds like an interesting guy. I would imagine his personality in a character in Movies like Christmas Carol. He would be one of my friends I would love to hang out with. He sounds also wise. I imagine him playing as Santa Clause in a movie too.
Brian is a true legend. I'd suggest watching a good long interview. There's one with Richard Herring where he just takes over the show...
He's climbed Everest, Boxed a Dalai Lama, Punched a polar bear on the nose. And that's just a few off the top of my head, totally ignoring his multiple iconic movie performances.
If I lost my little brother and he was the only family I had left knowing the rest are gone I'd hunt him down too!
I love this man - so charismatic and funny
Chills hearing about these brothers reuniting 🥰
I would put money on the brothers finding a way to keep in contact down the years, and when the brother ran from the workhouse, he would have needed a place to lay low and hide... He would need a confidant, help, and there was only one person he would have known and trusted to provide that...
thank you brian for being the ghost of christmas past. marvelous. seeing this makes me want to find i claudius, to watch again! i saw a talk on i claudius' film history, it is highly regarded still for filling the frame, and the chapter on you was so great! thank you for sharing.
