    @ShinyAndTouchable ehhh, I don't think he's as popular as david shifrin or martin frost. Maybe he sounded good a long time ago, idk. By the way, what's your setup? mine is buffet r13 Bb, and buffet e11 in A with vandoren optimum ligature and b45 mp

  • @rangerxx345
    @rangerxx345 13 лет назад

    @ShinyAndTouchable If it's that good, why do people play on r13? I mean it sounds good and durable, but I don't feel it's even and dark (rather bright or focused).

  • @alessandrot-b
    @alessandrot-b 12 лет назад

    Larry uses a Richard Hawkins model R mouthpiece

    their sounds don't match that well. Julian's tone is warm but a little thin. The two others have a darker sound

      it's also nice to hear 3 clarinet beasts screwing up rhythms and articulation; I don't feel so badly now LOL

  • @rangerxx345

    @ShinyAndTouchable so is flutter tonguing on clarinet

  • @alexrevell8114
    @alexrevell8114 9 лет назад +4

    as a mere busker, I realise these guys can play, but oh, where is vibrato which gives the clarinet such lovely warm tone. I wonder if they have ever heard Jimmie Noone or, more recently, Kenny Davern play.

    • @Captain_Jack514
      @Captain_Jack514 9 лет назад +10

      Vibrato is frowned upon in the classical clarinet world.

    • @Seifer_42
      @Seifer_42 9 лет назад +2

      +C@ptain_Jack It's such a disappointment too. Vibrato on Clarinet is beautiful.

    • @stevenchristophersen7673
      @stevenchristophersen7673 8 лет назад +2

      Vibrato on clarinet is very much debated, however there are plenty of places, even in classical music where vibrato is encouraged, first thing that comes to mind for me is Brahms with his Sonatas and the Trio. Richard Mühlfeld, who was Brahms' friend and the guy who he wrote those pieces for. As much as we know, Mühlfeld used plenty of vibrato, and those pieces are definitely lacking without vibrato. So, it's ultimately up to your interpretation.

    • @hotwheelsearl
      @hotwheelsearl 8 лет назад +2

      I've played clarinet from middle school through college and never once have they encouraged vibrato. It's basically not a thing. If you play flute or violin they teach that day one. For clarinet, they don't, simple as that.

    •  6 лет назад

      No vibrato! Ever in classical clarinet! Well at least hardly ever. Come on now.

  • @rangerxx345
    @rangerxx345 13 лет назад

    @ShinyAndTouchable i know it sounds terrible, but I still do it to entertain myself by impersonating benny goodman (in a bad way) when I'm depressed.

  • @rangerxx345

    I really dont like the brightness and thiness of the bliss clarinet.

  • @rangerxx345

    @ShinyAndTouchable i know, that's why you run with the brooms underneath ur crotch and also the golden snitch is a guy who runs around trying not to get caught

    @ShinyAndTouchable sorry, no. I know Harvard and Yale have great quidditch teams. LOL

    Ricardo plays a Buffet Tosca? What? Seems like he doesn't always play Backun..

    • @anthonyflanders1347
      @anthonyflanders1347 4 года назад

      This is before he was fully committed to backun clarinets (I think this is before the MoBa was created) but now he plays uebel clarinets and has split with backun.

  • @rangerxx345
    @rangerxx345 13 лет назад

    @ShinyAndTouchable that's my situation, but i think fatboy is more swag in my opinion in appearance and performance, especially for a resistant A clarinet.

  • @rangerxx345
    @rangerxx345 13 лет назад

    @ShinyAndTouchable I kind have to agree it's overpriced, and that it's not tuned very well, especially the lower notes where they play unbelievably flat and sometimes in tune (don't know how). I find r13s to be a little resistant to me or maybe that's how all clarinets are. Im fine with my r13, but I'm hoping a fatboy barrel which I saved enough for would allow me to play with ease on both my A clarinet (especially) and my Bb r13, unlike my chadash barrel.

    Probably his own mouthpiece.

  • @rangerxx345
    @rangerxx345 13 лет назад

    @ShinyAndTouchable U calling me an idiot, I call flute players an idiot when they can't even flutter or double tongue at all.

  • @rangerxx345
    @rangerxx345 13 лет назад

    @ShinyAndTouchable I can't say he's a bad player since he plays like 100 times better than me, but if I were to choose the best, it would be martin frost then david shifrin, sharon kam, ricardo morales, sabine meyer then Julian Bliss. I hear larry combs is good, but I never heard him play solo. but for sound, i say my teacher has a great tone
