- In this video we discuss four focus areas: PDU Sessions and QoS Flows, Core Network Architecture and Components, Network Functions Virtualization and finally Network Slicing.
This video has been taken from our Introduction to 5G course. This short course is designed to provide a concise synopsis of the key areas associated with the 5G System, with focus on the concepts and drivers, the 5G New Radio and NG-RAN, the end to end system architecture and key procedures associated with registration, PDU sessions and mobility.

This video explained more than my lecturer did in 2 two-hour classes. You don’t know how grateful I am. Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
Ah yes this guy is excellent. I have done Mpirical 2G 3G and 4G trainings, plus IMS Architecture. They have several awesome trainers
Thank you so much! I believe this must be the starting point before diving into the actual 3GPP specs.
The best architecture explanation I found on the internet I found so far. Thanks!
A crisp intro to the 5G Network Architecture! Thank you!!
The best video which explain with more clarity about 5G components and concepts. Thank you.
Really good, quick and concise overview. Thanks
This slide provide lots of valuable points on technology. Thanks for sharing data .
Concise, clear and valuable information, thank you!
Many thanks. Very well explained key points of this revolutionary network generation, all in just under 20 minutes.
Thanks for your feedback, Michalis! We are glad you found it useful.
Very concise explanation of 5G architecture. Excellent presentation by trainer
just found this and it has explained all content I needed for my class
great tutorial
Thanks for the crisp overview of 5G core. 👍🏻
Nice session, it gives a clear idea about 5G core. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you buddy for providing very simple explanation.
What a great video, simple and clear. Thank you
This is just what I needed. Thank you!
Fantastic! Great presentation. Thanks
Thanks so much for your very useful presentation!
Excellent RUclips video about 5G core components
Perfect explanation. Thanks!
Thank you, it was a great presentation!
very nice presentation . Thank you . Easy to understand and inspire ppl for 5G. Wondering how IMS would fit in the scheme of virtualization.
wow thanks for the video. got to know something before the interview lol...
Superb. Thanks very much. Well explained.
Finally. An instructor that actually knows the material vs one that mumblingly copies other YT videos’ content.
Hi Timothy, we're so happy to see this. Thank you for your comment!
OMG...Im so grateful
Very nice lecturer. Such an artistic and articulate speech!
Neat and clear explanation of 5G Core.
Great video, thanks for sharing
This video should show typical examples of how different network slices are used with different applications and different QoS demands.
Interesting talk! Thanks.
Fantastic video!
One of the best
Excellent way of presenting in very simple manner
Thanks for the nice feedback!
Excellent!! waoo i am really surprised with the level of information provided and the learning experience. Good Work ! I will take a look to your catalog
We are so pleased you found it useful, Ivan! Please get in touch if you would like to learn more or have any questions.
Very well explained Sir ✌
wow ...great explanation
Many thanks for this very informative, simple and clear presentation :)
thank you very much, can we have it like slides ??
That was useful .. thank u
Very very helpful
API calls are replacing the physical interfaces as we know them on LTE. NTW Slicing is the future . 5G Core was an interesting topic.
Very good presentation!!
Thank you!
great video
Brilliant courseware
You follow me every where but I know exactly who you are
great !
thank you
Thank you Sir😇
Can you please provide references for network architecture?
very nice
The Geo-blocking we see in RUclips or Spotify is achieved through PCF?
I'm really grateful for this and all your content, this is the best channel for a Telecom engineer.
Hi Ishu, thanks for your comment!
Geoblocking is often carried out by resolving an IP address for a device to a specific network domain, which is why using a VPN can circumvent geoblocking in some cases. Technically, the PCF would have the ability to provide policy decisions for specific IP flows, but in reality it is the actual web content provider like Netflix, RUclips or Spotify that conducts the blocking.
@@Mpirical Ahh okay, thank you for the answer. Guess I'll have to read on how web contents are delivered. Cheers!
What is the methodology/order followed to name the interfaces N1, N2, N3, N4 etc. ?
The N element of each reference point designation doesn’t really stand for anything, although historically it could be attributed to “New Radio” or “Next Generation”, depending on who you might be speaking to! In terms of the methodology or order, it’s all governed by the 3GPP and you can find a full list of all the N designations in 3GPP TS 23.501, Clause 4.2.7.
is UDM similar with the HSS function in LTE ?
Yes - similar in that it's the central repository of subscriber information. Note that the UDM will use the UDR for data storage.
Nice session! Very clear explanations. I must point out though that the name of the company is wrong in the video title.
Thanks for the comment, Abhik. We're glad you found the video useful. We have amended the title per your feedback. Thanks for watching!
Q) if a Device can have 8 Slices. would that be 8 Different PDU sessions ?
Essentially, yes - if a device was utilizing 8 separate network slices, it would require a PDU Session on each slice (PDU sessions cannot span multiple slices).
I would like to learn what technolgy is in sub 6 midband 5G
Hi Gary, thanks for your comment. Can you please elaborate on this? We'd be happy to recommend courses or put you in touch with a trainer who can answer your questions more specifically.
@@Mpirical mid band 5G that works on FR1 6Ghz
@@garychadwick8640 5G Midband usually is quoted at supporting 1GHz to 7.125GHz (was originally “1GHz to sub 6GHz”). In terms of 5G Midband deployments and frequency options, there are may at the lower ranges (1.8GHz, 2.1GHz, 2.5GHz, 3.5GHz). However, at the higher end the band n96 is available in North America (5925MHz to 7125MHz), as well as newer global Bands: n102 (5925Mhz to 6425MHz) and n104 (6425MHz to 7125MHz). Currently there are not many deployments or devices supporting these bands, however it is still early days for 5G Standalone Providers and Private 5G solutions.
please define PDU before using it.
Buongiorno. Bellissimo è possibile in italiano
mpirical is way better than wray castle, we used mpirical when we were t-mobile uk.
The promotional bottom section distracts and is irritating...
That sliding banner down low is distracting, it was so annoying that before the video i was considering your services , 2 minutes in and i hate the name MPIRICAL
