Interesting to point out that before 1991, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 was using the Cyrillic alphabet for Azeri language and when they got their independence in that year, the government introduced the Latin script and now the Cyrillic alphabet for the language has disappeared. Other former Soviet Turkic countries like Kazakhstan 🇰🇿, Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 and Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 still use the Cyrillic script for their languages, although Turkmenistan 🇹🇲 successfully converted their language into Latin script from Cyrillic just like Azerbaijan 🇦🇿.

That "odd" building you mentioned was the Carpet Museum. It's really worth taking the funicular to the Flame Towers (although you can also easily walk up the stairs) since there is a nice park from where you have great views. Don't miss on visiting the Shirvanshak's Palace in the Old Town. If you want to make use of your pass, take a bus to the Heyder Eliyev Museum which has a very interesting architecture with a park surrounding it.
I can also highly recommend taking a day tour to Xinaliq in the North of Azerbaijan (I think the lady wanted to sell you a tour). I went there by taxi but we were two so it was cheaper. The road from Quba into the mountains is absolutely stunning. It will be a long day but totally worth the effort!

The park was incredible with a life-size chess set. Your narration of the Chronicles of Narnia and the Wizard of Oz is based on stories and how they have influenced you and you read the entire book in one unreal evening. 32:35 Fun fact. Freddy Mercury's family, being from Zanzibar, practiced Zoroastrianism. One could do worse than read some Zoroastrian Scriptures. Then listen to some Queen. Then read Nietzsche's Also sprach Zarathustra. Already your perception of reality will be different. Then one could end the day and/or night with Richard Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra, which itself was inspired by Nietzsche's work. For the extra ambitious, go ahead and put on 2001 A Space Odyssey on in the background. You will forever be changed...

Sometimes you were spinning around in one place😊🙃 It would be better to visit the Miniature Book Museum (free) in the old city fortress, relax in the Philharmonic Park. Look at the unique Baku Book Center, the Futuristic house without corners - the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center - by architect Zaha Hadid. Visit the old German Lutheran Church, listen to organ music, concerts. Visit the Nobel Brothers House Museum in Baku - Villa Petrolea. Eat and try national cuisine - kutaby, dushpara, dolma. Visit a very cheap farmers' market on 8 kl (take the metro).

Zoroastorians were fire worshipers. There is a large community in Mumbai-the Parsis.

Zoroastrianism is an Iranian religion, and places that are part of ancient Persia are Zoroastrian, such as Azerbaijan or Central Asian countries
Of course, after the arrival of Islam, many Persians who did not want to change their religion went to India
One of the famous Persians or Zoroastrians of India was Freddie Mercury

@@living_peace I thought Freddie Mercury was from Zanzibar though his family was from India.
The Parsi burial rites are the result of walking across the desert to get to India.
The Tatas are Parsi and well known at least in India.
