Here, where I am the high street was once thriving with a butchers, a greengrocer Fish and chips shops, small independent businesses, pubs and social clubs. All gone and everyone is forced into the ASDA for everything. The old premisses' on the high street are boarded up and are slowly being converted into flats. The only Businesses that are opening up are vape shops and Turkish Barbers { we have 7 } and a few Charity shops. Everyone sees this and knows what is going on but what the hell can we do ? This country is fucked.
I used to go to Peterlee alot when my hubby was still alive the market used to be canny and the shops were good too but the last time I was over there about 5yrs ago I was shocked by how much it had gone downhill.

The problem in this town is there is nobody who comes up with any great ideas. We should have a town meeting/vote/ideas session as to what people would like this building to become! what they would like to be taken down and what they would like to be rebuilt in its place. We have the leisure center that is pretty decent now with many activities to do albeit took forever to accomplish. we have a Bingo, many decent/ok pubs and yes others that realy need taring down and building again and we all know which ones those are. We have a state of the art gym 'one gym' which also needs the old £ stretcher converting into something decent.... maybe a snooker/pool hall with bar, something similar to keep young people and old people active. We dont need anymore supermarkets or retail shops to compete against one another we have homebargains and ASDA thats all we realy need oh and farmfoods. People who realy want to make a change should list on here what THEY would like for there town and what they think would make it great again.
We know who the enemy is and who is behind the destruction of our country, We must ALL turn our backs on the government and stop funding them, ie stop paying bills and taxes or withhold your payment until they can provide a proof of claim which we know full well they can't because it doesn't exist but this is just one tactic, personally I'd simply send letters back unopened with the words (no contract) (return to sender) (person unknown) and pop it back in the postbox. People need to learn who they are and what power they have. Everything we've been taught has been a lie. What we need is to work as a community but while these evil satanic pedos are in charge of this country we've got no chance, the only chance we have is for practically everyone to wake up and understand what is going on and who is behind it all We can either stand together and make a stand or I dred to think of what this country will be like in a few years time. its like moved into our council house 22 years ago with four kids before got new roofs and chimney knocked down.decided to get loft boarded for storage.top managemant all looked at it and said it was champion.fast forward 20 years later kids moved out had there kids.so on weekend grandkids would sleepover.paying for 2 bedrooms,taxes but lately i swear there doing anything to try and put us in a 2 bed house.had extention lead from one of the bedrooms to loft.council worker seen it and cut the cord.3 days later bosses came out,its peterlee must of thought i had a growth up there.they looked and then went away.week later i got a passive aggressive letter saying i have to rip it all up.didnt get written permission 20 years ago.respect

Been 54 I remember when Peterlee centre was great and had one of the best outdoor markets going these days it's rubbish.

I’m sure I used to take lessons in the building while studying at East Durham College.
The building has been used for many things over the years from job centre to training courses.
