  • Specific Report by Mr. Chhatish Kumar Sahu, the District Correspondent for Sigma Media Lab English from Mayurbhanj, Odisha.
Due to the impact of the sea storm 'Dana' and relentless heavy rains persisting for a span of three days, the flood water surged into the Bubhabalang river at Mayurbhanj District of Odisha, causing the water lands to be submerged. As a result, the flooding persisted due to the stagnant water, which inundated the terrain and endangered the growth of the paddy crops. Despite the adversity faced by the locals, the administrative bodies seemed passive, failing to address the escalating situation promptly. Consequently, a sense of discontent brewed among the affected populace. This scenario unfolded in proximity to Kudimunda village of Mangobindpur Panchayat within the confines of Mayurbhanj district. Eventually, District Magistrate Mr. Hemkant Say, alongside S P Mr. Barun Gundupali, in collaboration with other officials, resorted to diverting the excessive flood water by using a JCB to carve a path through the road. Furthermore, they vowed to expedite the repair work on the road posthaste, thus ensuring the restoration of normalcy in the affected area.
