I could see a use for the rolls for quick clean up and throw away. Much like the shop towels you buy and toss. Just for those dirty areas where you dont wanna throw it in your washer after use. Great video Will!
If you detail a lot of cars then I guess having better quality towels to hand on a roll is a time saver. These will be 'one use' for a lot of people, handy for ceramic coatings and sealants that kill towels. It will not get covered in dust if they are using enough of them
I agree with you. I bought a roll of microfiber towels for the sole purpose of cleaning areas I didn't want to destroy a good towel on. Inside fenders and wheel wells, wheels, engine bays, etc. Maybe you want to use some leather conditioner or wipe on tire shine. For me they were a few steps above a shop towel but not as good as a real microfiber towel. I also treated them as disposable.
I don't get this trend either... I wonder if it's cheaper for a manufacturer point. Rather than cutting and trimming every towel, just perforate them and leave the roll in tact.

The $8 roll would be good for that. Thanx Terry!

Just my opinion but, if you use these to remove and level a ceramic coating...you'll scratch the paint.

100% correct, I was really surprised at how bad they really were.
