the patch had probably the dumbest scene in all of the msq quest since ARR, with koana throwing all his self preservation away by trying to bodyblock something that is basicly a 5 ton truck moving full speed towards him to try to save a god damn cow, and i dont care if those things are familie to the tribes people, you dont throw your life away for something you had a grudge against 10 minutes earlier. There is bravery, there is desperation and than there is this straight up insulting stupidity. He is a machinist, he should summon a freaking Automata King in the shape of Gulul Ja Ja and stop that T-Rex this way... but of course than Wuk cant swope in and be the Hero who saves him. You say she isnt as bad as in 7.0. I say BS, She is still as radioactive for the storytelling as befor, you just have a shorter exposure to her this time.
Wuk was ALOT better this patch lmao.. you're still bitter about her god awful shit based Dawntrail, but she literally even gets rebuked and can't just resolve shit like with the kid during the funeral. I don't like her but I aint gonna lie and say she's just as bad. And she def took a backseat to Koana
@@makisbizarreadventure4669 i domt care if you think she is better or not. I dislike her character. Im am bitter about dawntrail and the onlyfix is to completely push her out.
@@durantes Fates in ARR are much more interesting. There is even one that unlocks a vendor. Sure you got your minddless one, but you got odin and others who are not mindless. Squarenix seems to be a Dilbert principle company in which otherwise good employees are promoted to their level of incompetence.
Lyse got her ideals stomped on by the Garleans and even by her Ala Mighen countrymen themselves at first. They did not even wanted to rebel anymore. They tolerated the autocratic rule of the empire and the destruction of their own culture. Wuk Lamat has no opposition, because she has no morals or strong political views or ideals like Lyse had. She just wants to 'bring eternal happiness and smiles to everyone' like a f*cking kindergarten teacher. I have met people with down syndrome who have more articulate political ambitions than Wuk Lamat.
Tbh just story skip after 6.0 period. Nothing of true import happens in post EW. Basically the void was bad but now is... still kinda bad? And we found vrtras sister, who proceeded to not do much.
Finish Shadowbringers and then write the rest of the story yourself in a notepad file. Itll probably lead to a more satisfying outcome overall for most people Everything post ShB has been a consistent downward slope in quality
I am more glad that there are more ppl out there realizing that the writing in its entirity is bad and not only "because of Wuk Lamat". from most of the discussions i have seen so far i got the overall impression that the core issue's gets overlooked because everything revolves around wuk lamat and she is cited as the "source" of the bad writing.. not a symptom.
@@renemuller7383 This. Wut Lmao was big symptom in a very mediocre story. Even if they somehow reigned in her character, reduced her screen time, made her actually fallable with flaws (and gave more screentime and development to Krile, Erenville and WoL)... there would still be the bad pacing, non-nonsensical Zoraal Ja villain arc, and the weird overall sanitation for a young audience (rubber bullets???), and SMILE 😔
One of the few options we have to speak lets us say "That would be inappropriate" in regards to us going to the funeral. Wuk plasters this over and doesn't take much ownership of her part in it. I expected someone to at least call her out on this crass behavior. This is the same game where Alphinaud had the Crystal Braves blow up in his face for his blind idealism. The same game where Alphinaud was smacked down by various political leaders for his naive perception of politics. Yet Wuk just gets to act like an idiot and everyone bends to validate her. Where is the grit that made this world feel interesting to navigate?
The same game where Ser Aymeric got stabbed in his own city by poor people who viewed his (in our eyes heroic) actions against the Ishgardian church as patricide and betrayal of the only richdom they had left, their faith. The same game where Lyse her ambitions and ideals get stomped on by her own countrymen, because they're done fighting and rebelling against the overwhelming odds that is represented by the Garlean Empire. They got contempt with an autocratic power that destroyed their culture and history and their voice, as a means to survive. Wuk Lamat has NO opposition because she has NO ideals, nor morals nor any political positions. She just wants to 'make everyone smile and bring happiness to everyone' like a kindergarten teacher or a circus clown.
The simple answer, it wasnt made for us. It was made for a tourist demographic. The kind of Demographic that watches Destiny and Hasan streams and think's their political thoughts are valid.
Nobody gonna mention how stupid it is for Teeshal Ja to have stored her voice diary about her deepest desire, her affair with the king, and the child up in the server where she worked?
It is abundantly clear that whatever process they use to select people for their writing team needs to be reevaluated. Something clearly went horribly wrong over there. The people who wrote Heavensward and Shadowbringers cannot possibly be the ones who wrote Derptrail.
@@Hammer1987 they aren't the current writers were the beast tribe writers, one of which is a failed play write. The game lost both ishikawa (lead writer) and koji (English lead).
@@Hammer1987 as the prior comment mentioned they both got promoted. Ishikawa is writing ff17 currently I believe. And now koji is the head of English for the entirety of business unit 3 instead of overseeing the translation of FFXIV, leaving Kate as the head of the English translation (which is why her friend got the VA job for wuk)
The story writing has been mid since 6.1. Its even more impactful since 2.5 - 6.0 was amazing story wise. Shadowbringers was literally peak fiction…. What is going on. 😭
@@omensoffateEndwalker kinda coasted off of the success of Shadowbringers, so people tend to overlook its issues. If you go back and replay Endwalker after Dawntrail, it’s pretty easy to spot some the writing issues that would later be amplified in Dawntrail.
@@shawnscouten5184 I can attest to that. I started this game during the lock downs, around 6.1 or 6.2 I think, and since I was playing consistently during that time my enjoyment of this game was at its peak. As a result in hindsight I overlooked a lot of the flaws in Endwalker as you mentioned, but that being said it still had some standout moments that make the expansion worthwhile to me. Notably the final fight with Zenos, I might be bias though, I’ve always had a soft spot for climactic 1v1 slugfests in the middle of nowhere. Metal Gear Solid 4 being my prime example.
I can at LEAST answer the spaceship from Endwalker. We needed A TON of aether from the planet in order to achieve this and they had to be assisted by the primals. So therefore, while possible, we need to VASTLY increase our efficiency in order to attempt more space travel. Alongside our encounter with Despair incarnate, we probably realized we had some safety flaws. The prime issue is that a LOT of this has not been talked about, it doesn't mean it isn't considered, but rather on the back burner, remember: -All deaths caused by the events of Endwalker -Garlemald in chaos -Still existing creatures that need to be put down (possible some that we missed even after the role quests.) -Trade/Supply routes greatly disturbed by the events I mean I could go on, but think about what losing so many people would do to the economy all at once. Putting all of this together, alongside the scions being busy stopping us from being invading by the void, AGAIN, the world was WAY too hectic to work on space travel, it might be a while before ANYONE wants to travel anywhere in space. Not to mention the logistics of it. While I would like someone saying that in-game, let's be real, people don't even do that in real life, why do we expect a game to do that any better? Ultimately, it seems like Endwalker suffers from people needing it fucking spelled out for them even though they proclaim they can handle it. Dawntrail on the other hand is an insultingly simple story with possibilities for greater potential more than likely shut down to prevent issues that occurred in Endwalker from people complaining about the story. Ultimately, I think that if we show how unhappy we are with Dawntrail, either they'll bring back our good writers, or actually put in some good ones. If not, then the storied died in Endwalker to me. TL;DR: Endwalker gets ragged on by people not reading properly, yet Dawntrail gets rightfully ragged on for being completely dogshit and insulting to our intelligence. Good video mate!
Appreciate it! N yeah. That can help explain the Ragnarok a bit. Though as we saw in the post-EW patches, they conjured the Aetherfront out of thin air for our fight with Golbez. They could easily solve this issue if they wanted. N just think of the possibilities.
Same. Been following since 1.0 This xpac gave me the same feel that Warlords of Draenor gave me back when I was still playing WoW, I know all to well the signs to jump ship after so many MMOs. The ironic part is that the game is becoming the very thing that made it popular as people fled WoW, lol.
Yeah the amount of times I was yelling at my monitor 'oh my God I DONT FREAKING CARE' when playing thru just about all of this really made me just want to go back to ShB/EW. Dawntrail made me take my first extended break from the game since I first started during 4.0.
Or rather, the usual minds may be occupied elsewhere. The ARR+HW people went on to write for XVI, but this one has been done for a while so what are they doing now? Ishikawa also seems to be on something else (XVII or the global new XIV cycle after Dawntrail?). On top of that there could be the new internal DEI/ESG department inside Square Enix trying to censor every subject that would be too serious or triggering for weak players. Whatever the issue is, I really hope Yoshida is aware of it and has plans for the next development cycles to improve things. A weak expansion is one thing, but if it becomes an habit…
@@Ruzgfpegk There is the issue of the sensivity consultants that they hired for this xpac, I wouldn't be surprised if it was SBI, and they werent there for "sensivity" but rather to writer stories, they had their stinky fingers in every flop this year, EVERY!
@@Shatterstar They really are. Memoria is too similar to Amaurot and now Sphene is being Elidibus. Be prepared to eat a shoe when in 7.3 Sphene summons Necron because something something Despair, Dynamis, just like Elidibus becomes "salvation given form" The "twist" is gonna be: it's not an Ascian, is a Lucavi, MARK MY WORDS!
Koana's backstory pissed me off so much. He is the one original DT character I actually liked, and they cheapened his established arc by adding in this nonsense about his abandonment issues. He already addressed those issues, as you said. It would be fine if he spent time with the Hhetsarro, since he does not have a high opinion of their culture. He could learn their ways and accept *them* for who they are. But his development into accepting them is that... he shepherds a bison? He should have been front and center, but he goes off on his own, shepherds a bison, and all is fixed. But the real issue I have is that he gets a cheap backstory drop with one guy who just so happened to have seen his parents get killed. What. Luck. ("What luck" is a common phrase for anything that happens in DT. 90% of the game wouldn't go Wuk's way if it weren't for luck.) This backstory cheapens him by saying that his parents are more important than his role as king. If that was left out, I'd be satisfied. I don't think the Hhetsarro story was well-written, but it was an attempt to have him overcome a prejudice, and I appreciate that. Turning that into a sad little orphan story and retroactively making his parents good people is a cheap, manipulative grab at the emotions.
Please don't bring up the unresloved stuff between wuk and her father. I really dont want that to be a major plot point in the future. We need less wuk not more.
I just did the role quests yesterday after reading through 2.5 of them i realised they are all the same story, theif stole artifact, hunt theif, retrieve artifact. So skipped the rest of the cutscenes, who the hell thought i would want to do the same story 5 times.
You could argue that Estinian is the MC of Heavensward, like how Wuk is for Dawntrail, but he never overshadowed you, the Hero... intact both were as important as each other.
Wuk could be the MC for all the pearl clutches they have. The game is still about the player wether you're saving the world or adventuring, they could very well have her do her pokemon quest and let the WoL explore the land on his own, doing side quests, doing small stuff, even washing clothes! it would still have been more fun. The only pleasure I've got from 7.0 was Shaaloani, having a nice time with Erenville and not feeling suffocated by a SBI esque character that sours every single cutscene she is in.
I am a bit disappointed about Gulool Ja's Parentage. Apparently he was simply born after all. From the literal only female of his Species in all the land. Who then vanished. Oh well, maybe they will still reveal that there was some science or worse involved
The only thing I genuinely liked about this patch was the new dungeon and the aliance raid, that's all. Also, my reaction on seeing Wuk Lmao on the cutscene about us trying to eat our tacos in peace was literally the same as yours 🤣 See you on 7.2
You clearly don't read many comments when this is your conclusion. The loud majority are throwing (shallow) criticism around and have been so spoiled by ShB&EW, that they forgot how FFXIV (ARR, HW and SB) used to keep the WoL as a relevant background-character.
another major problem for me is, Dawntrail will stay as a huge shit stain in the timeline of FF14, even if the next and future expansion would become great, it would mark a point in the history of expansions that should be skipable for free and should never ever be mentioned again, like WoW did with Shadowlands and the Jailer that was removed from artworks... but if they continue with shit like DT in future expansions or create even worse expacs, then Endwalker was really the true end of FF14 with a bunch of really bad filler arcs at the end...
@@zirilan3398 I did like Endwalker for the most part, but now that you mention it the battle with Elidibus would have been the perfect place to end the story. Some loose ends would have to be rewritten like the Garleans and zenos, but I can’t think of a more climactic/fitting final boss than the Warrior of Light, which is still my favourite trial to this day.
@@s.silverman9864 my 2 main issues with base EW as a whole was first and foremost the pacing, especially towards the end with the last zone. It would have been much better if the sions would have disappeared throughout the story and not just all at once. Alisaile could have dispaired during garlemald when she was faced with the reality that all of the Eorzean alliance are warcriminals and the WoL is just a monster in the eyes of the garlean people. Alphinode towards the end of garlemald after he has gone through all the wartorn land without his sister etc. my second biggest issue is that they never capitalized on the bodyswap-part with Zenos. They could have let Zenos go on a killingspree in the WoL's body with similarities to how the sineaters turned people in the first but this time how dispair turned people into fiends and let the WoL dispair in their own way beeing ropped of all their power and allies, forced to just watch and have G'Raha Tia be the one to snap them out of if with reminding the WoL of the grant adventure they promised to Raha. That brings me to my personal issue with everything that happened after 5.3: SE WHERE THE FUCK IS MY FUN ADVENTURE WITH G'RAHA? I was promised adventure time with best boy and all he was reduced to is the funny-food-character. What is this horseshit? Completly unrelated: IT'S BEEN 5 SHITTING YEARS SE, WHERE ARE MY FUCKING HATS?
@@zirilan3398 I started the game with EW so I was more forgiving of the pacing issues, since I was playing through the story on a consistent basis and there was no lull period between expansions. In hindsight however, once I caught up with the story and the “honeymoon” period was over, I can acknowledge the many flaws. There is a lot I would change but I still enjoyed some of the story beats, which is more than I can say for DT. Both expansions have good battle content though
FF14: Yawntrail As a Stormblood apologist, Lyse doesn't look so bad now does she? SB doesn't feel so bad now does it? Mr incredible uncanny reaction: its gonna be 5 months of nothing until next patch. what are the odds of it improving?
I got spoiled before reaching the end of 7.1 (since I was at work when it dropped) and I just groaned hearing where the story line was going. I full on face palmed during the train scene like.. Kona couldn't be dropping more fucking hints that HE was that missing child and everyone around him was just oblivious and he needed to spell it out. like.. my WOL is standing there going 'i'm surrounded by idiots' and Spheen is going Teledji Adeliji, a cartoonish level of evil. Like we didn't need that stupid evil smirk and look to know something was just dead ass wrong and this was a 'evil' spheen. It would have been better if they hadn't done that and not revelated the "twist" at the end yet.
Koanna's story was all sorts of braindamage. He dislikes/hatew roneek, but suddenly apparently has an offscreen change of heart and suddenly cant stop stroking one. Also, wth was that bit with koanna hinting at the tribeleader that he may be the lost child, but holy crap, was the tribeleader (and everyone else) dense for not picking it up. Must be the dung they use as flavouring (as told by the kid that quizes you on the tribe's culture). I actually think that that might be the best thing about the patch: storywriters having a tribe eat literal $hit.
Alexandria has so much potential that is being wasted. Like, what about the Milaala? The Milaala are lalafells from the SOURCE, Aloalo islands. Want to deal with culture? How about having Milaalas come back to reacquaint themselves with their old home? Or how about having some nasty Alexandrians discover Allagan/Omicron tech and utilizing Alexandrian advancement, expand upon and build on top of Allagan monstrosities? What about Cid and his pals? Electrope would have him and the others cream themselves over the possibilities it affords. The world at large should also be paying attention to Alexandria and it's capabilities because its abilities are eerily similar to the Allagans that terrorized the past; I know they lost against Tural but honestly speaking the circumstances with which they lost was ridiculous. This should be a global affair, no they should not be treated as part of Tural but rather their own unique nation separate from it.
The writing is a mess. They almost did something cool with the funeral/understanding death stuff and trying to integrate into Tural, but they conveniently forgot that Solution 9 fully attacked and massacred citizens in Tuliyollal and literally ate their souls, that should create massive tension and pushback towards Wuk trying to integrate the Alexandria's who are still walking around with devices to feed souls on their heads. The Alexandria's don't remember but the Turali don't get memory wiped. And don't get me started on the bafflingly convenient and dumb tale of Koana the savior of cows, I don't understand what they were thinking. If he was gonna body block, at least make him do it to save the guy that was at the original attack, like he froze from trauma and afterward he could explain what happened to him. But even then, they did not need to have him remember specifics down to the baby, it easily could have been implied that Koana came from there with him realizing there could be another explanation for his parents absence. It's just baffling because a lot of these things were strengths for the writing in past expansions, Garlemald, the citizens reacted as they should considering their perspective, now here, no one cares or acknowledges the literal massacre in the streets of Tuliyollal. I want to believe they can turn it around but whatever shift happened in the writing team needs to be undone, it's so bad in such obvious ways with simple fixes, it just feels like a lack of care or attention to even major details and plot points.
7.1-7.2 (and maybe even 7.3) is just gonna be nicknamed "Post-Stormblood 2.0? Is that you?" (spoilers for stormblood, but if you're here, you probably don't need another spoiler warning) Post-Stormblood: 1) We beat up Zenos. 2) Zenos comes back, in the flesh but obviously an imposter 3) We have to figure out who the imposter is Post-Dawntrail: 1) We beat up Sphene 2) Sphene comes back, in the flesh but obviously an imposter 3) We'll have to figure out who the imposter is and why did they hack the memories of the people (speculatively) I just see this as a Post-Stormblood parody and the writers are going to have to spice it up to make it actually interesting.
my guess is that during the final 7.0 trial against queen eternal when Sphene was parcially restored that caused a split between what we fought as queen eternal and a safety backup from before the restoration. So basically the entire thing is a glitch
I actually more closely associated it with Shadowbringers and fake Ardbert (mostly because he/Elidibus was mingling with the citizens instead of fake Zenos/Elidibus being mostly a military presence.)
I enjoyed the video. As always your thoughts and point are very well laid out. A couple of my own notes here. I found it really annoying that the very first cutscene of the path is about a grown up son who is trying to integrate back into society and the challenges he and his family would face and Wuk Lamat just shows up at the exact right time with an off screen solution. The train of easy solutions never ends. Additionally, while I really enjoyed the alliance raid and its combat the story makes me question the writing staff's direction even more. Electrope is an INSANE material to include in the game. It has the ability to create anything. Buildings, power, etc, etc. It's already ridiculously overpowered for a fantasy world where there are no stated limits or drawbacks. Now we learn that Electrope can create people...with memories...potentially. If this is the case then it shatters whatever world building the FF14 team has created because it feels so out of left field and impossibly strong. Good world building 101 requires an intimate knowledge of cause and effect. If you bring in a new entity into the world that has no repercussions then you are returned with the question of 'why didn't we use 'x' to solve all our problems. Not knowing about the object is one thing but it cheapens the experience going forward. Electrope being a 'finite resource that started wars' is also hard to suspend my disbelief over because there's already so much of it and no one in the society seems to worry or care about it because the material does not have any function in the economy. It doesn't have any lasting impacts or is remotely examined over than it being a poorly thought out reason for a war that sets off a calamity. Electrope, like Dynamis, is a poorly conceived concept as far as FF14 goes. It's a poorly defined, "light magic" in a "hard magic system" based story.
This was the first time since I started playing the game that I didn't do the msq as soon as it was released. I'm still at the very beginning, and just starting to read the text is making me sleepy. On the other hand, I did the alliance raid first day with a full blind group, and it was really fun to do.
Do the people actually KNOW we killed Sphene and did all that? I don't think they do which is why they were chill with it. I might have missed that if they did know what We and Wuk did
I grew up with the very first Final Fantasy (FF1) and love the series, but Dawntrail is the one and only true umbral calamity, everything that happened before was like nothing.... i still cant believe how bad it is and i still havent recovered from the MSQ and i dont know if i ever will even tho im try to distance my emotional attachment to the game as much as possible. It is like the absolute atrocity called Dawntrail erased all my positive and amazing memories i had from the beginning of A Realm Reborn to the end of Endwalker and leaves nothing behind than pure hatred and agony... FF14 is facing its death if this shit continues...
I totally stopped playing this game and let my sub lapse (thus losing my house) due to complete apathy and lack of desire to play this game - which has gone to literal shit.
Gotta love how when Wookiee Lamar tries to comfort the child instead of confronting his anguish, and admitting that she just quipped a platitude to him, she backs off saying, "Sorry, I'll let you grieve in your own way." The sheer audacity, no introspection, no empathy. Just, "You're wrong, but I'll feel bad if I force you to be right." I'm pretty sure your assumption is right, by the way. I'm almost 100% sure that Gulool's Mom was the Mud Rabbit Tural Vidraal(Hello again, Carbuncle Savage), and she probably opted to place herself into it after her pregnancy as part of completing the research. Or perhaps when the facility went to shit as a way to contain it. As far as the MSQ goes, I was fairly ambivalent towards it. I expected immediate and constant Wukings. Especially since I know their XIV formula will have the Wukings continue until 7.3. What I'm worried for is that the Wukings continue after that, because Yoshit-P actually made a remark recently that was something along the lines of, "I'm sorry we failed to convey how awesome Wuk really is. Please look forward to us succeeding in that in the near future." Basically, the Wukings will continue until morale improves. I swear they want XIV to die. As far as the rest of the patch goes, I haven't done the Pandaemonium minion quest yet, but I did enjoy the FFXI alliance raid. I thought it was a nice level of difficulty, not too hard but not too easy, and within a month or two people will say it's too easy and just has gimmicks. Far more concerning was the story for the alliance raid. I was ready to burn SE HQ down, but fortunately they're opting for a sorta meta narrative, "This isn't the real Vana'diel, it's just Lizardman's Fever Dream based off his fevered visions of Vana'diel made solid by Electrope." This saves them backlash, as a lot of people were saying they would/should simply make Vana'diel a shard of Etheirys, and there really would be nothing more insulting than that for XI's far more robust, living and breathing world. Of course, having drank my Hater-ade this morning, I do have one sort point of contention that I hope to high heaven is not in the original Japanese. In the raid itself they make us fight a lame and gay version of Prishe. In the fight Prishe has a lot of voice dialogue talking about the power of Altana and the Light of Altana, and there is a quip by her, "You couldn't possibly have HER blessing too, could you?!!!" YOU'RE ON THIN ICE SQUARE and XIV DEV TEAM! I will burn down your HQ, I swear to motherloving Christ! Because that tries to paint the picture that the WoL of XIV with his Blessing of Light from Hydaelyn is the same as The Adventurer from FFXI who was blessed by the tears of Altana. THEY ARE ENTIRELY FUCKING DIFFERENT, AND TO MAKE THIS FALSE EQUIVALENCE INFURIATES ME IN MY CORE! The adventurer in FFXI does contend with some time loop paradoxical chicanery, it's true, but canonically they don't even get cried on by Altana until the end of Chains of Promathia, and the blessing of her tears isn't related to power or protection in the way that the Blessing of Light is from FFXIV. IN FACT, the Adventurer in FFXI is later ascended via a dangerous process into becoming a God of Light temporarily in order to fight his Dark half from the future that becomes a God of Darkness, so that their duel can cause enough force to push The Cloud of Darkness away from Vana'diel. After this, he is blessed by Odin (again actually) to take up Prime Weapons, weapons crafted by Demons forging the souls of thousands of people and demons into the blade. So more often than not, the Adventurer actually makes use of "fell" powers and is as equally mired and blessed by Darkness as he is by Light (and in several questlines, including a Job questline for Blue Mage, put his soul up as collateral for power). *Ahem* To be sensible, I hope it remains a one off voice line and goes no further than that, and I did love the raid itself (I do have some XI veteran nit picks but it was good).
I don't think I've ever been so bored as I was with this MSQ. I don't know who it is written for, but it's not for adult audiences. Exceedingly bland dialogue, utterly idiotic decisions. I agree with Mal, about Koana jumping in front of the super beast critter monster. Uh, why? That dude is about as strong as an M80 firecracker. Meanwhile, us, as the WoL are nothing less than a 500 kiloton nuclear bomb. Yes, let's let the twig jump out to have his 'moment.' I have expected Wuk fuzzytwat to run out and 1-shot the thing, becuse ShE iS tHe BeSt EvAr. I've never felt more useless as an Ascian. Seriously. I'm more powerful than all of them combined. But I play second, or third fiddle to uninteresting NPCs that struggle to do anything. I do not regret cancelling my subscription, this shit is beyond bad.
I left the msq for last this patch, and it somehow managed to be even more underwhelming than I expected. Koana being a selfish idiot and attempting to throw his life away for a random cow when he is the leader of an entire country, and nobody calling him out for it was just awful. I don’t know how they did it, but I dislike him as much as Wuk Lamat now. I know they can’t edit things until 7.3, but they seriously need to replace like all the writers, because Dawntrail just takes all the writing problems Endwalker had and magnifies them up to 11. And it doesn’t even have the few good moments in Endwalker like the Garlemald stuff to make up for it.
I posted this on the forums and stand by it "we make solution 9 like dalaran in wow and teleport it to meracydia. We leave the new world, lamat, sphene behind." We start a fresh plot from there. Y'shtola can do an experiment in S9 with our new azem key and poof we get dragged there. new location to start over.
Bakool Jar Jar invited us to tacos and kidnapped the feral cat so we coul be without her for 5 minutes. So we are all good. Andd the whole Valimangia was Zoral headd of reason plan. I am more concern that the murderers of the Queen were honored guess to her funeral. That's twisted. On other news Leader of Tural country nearly dies while protecting a cow from the local fauna.
and one of the worst things, Yoshi-Pee didnt seem to know whats actually going on or what is so wrong with Dawntrail in one of his live letters / interviews... not a single apology or improvement so far ...
Dawntrail was definitely boring. So far, and Wuk Lamat was annoying, seems like she's written more to please the small number of weirdos in the West lol. Gulool Ja was cute though. So far Endwalker is my most favorite expansion/story.
When I sat down at the table in the restaurant I predicted that we're going to overhear some bystanders and then Wuk will come in, but when she still did I was saying out loud to leave me alone... 😂
As for the people of Alexandria they really don't know anything that happened. As far as they know one day people from another country showed up, Zorral ja let loose their army on them and Spene somehow died only to forget that she died. Sadly they are not critical thinkers even though there is so many things that should make them question their culture. Which annoys me and had me yelling at my pc at how these people are so uninformed and naive that they don't think for themselves.
It called Apathy, imagine living in a world where you have an extra life every time you have a mishap or never experience the grief and pain of loss only for all to that happen in a lifetime, found yourself in a world that is far more dangerous and you die permanently as well as knowing someone has died, you want to forget and hide away than face the truth. So when the queen that they love and protected them has returned it was obvious that they would embrace it that face the fact that something is wrong.
and these ppl are planning to move to Tul so that "they can forget the pain of losing their queen", when the ruler of Tul is the one who basically kill their queen LOL
@ actually it’s the people who got trapped in the dome and wants to see what changed for the the last 30 years they been in there that wants to leave. Like the first part of the quest is literally a 30+ son of a man who look like the same age as him bemoaning the fact that he gotten so used to the easy life in the dome that he can’t even light a fire without electropes. The Alexandreans who never been in Tural won’t leave because of the danger. It’s a perfect example of over reliance of technology has reduced life skills, reminds me of a friend who got lost in a hiking trail because he can’t read a map and thought of using GPS but has no signal.
"There has to be a train enthusiast on the writing team" One that likes Brunel gauge.... Why else would they choose the *ugliest* railroading gauge.... You can't make anything out of that oversized... *ahem* biological excrement... without the entire thing looking oversized. Also, they decided to make a 0-2-4 train.... with no pistons to actually use that *singular* driving axle.... How they managed to doubledown on the ugliness amazes me. That train would probably derail if it tried to pick up any actual speed somewhat near a turn, since it has no pilot truck to guide that singular driving axle into a curve without flying off the rails like rails were a disease. The only reason to go Brunel gauge is for extra speed and comfort, which that train is probably sorely lacking in both. If that were designed in real life, it'd be all firebox and no way to actually put out that power, especially considering they forgot to put pistons to actually.... drive the wheels.... Also, I have to ask, why the heck do they have flames coming out of the smoke stack? Talk about a complete waste of aetheric energy. Whether it actually be powered like a diesel-electric, or a coal-steam, there should *not* be flames coming out of the smokestack/exhaust. The fire should be contained in the... firebox.... If you're burning it even more externally than that, it fails at actually being an external combustion engine since none of that heat expended outside of the locomotive is going to heat up the water which powers the pistons which aren't even there. If it were an internal combustion engine, that is still *wayyyy* too much excessive fire outside of the exhaust. You won't even see big rigs spit out that much when they're souped up and on the block for flooring the engine to the point of the engine ripping out of the truck and flying 10 meters away. So, I don't think there is a train enthusiast on the writing team. They just want transportation that isn't wildly high-tech, and not chocobo carriages (WHY AREN'T THEY USING THOSE? (Yes I know they don't use chocobos here, but YOU HAVE OTHER ANIMALS))
It was pretty eye-rolling. Considering Zoraal had ZERO interactions with his father outside of patricide, it's hard to pin down a relationship between those two.
I was happy in the msq hearing British voice acting then I heard wuk talk and learned they learned nothing. Seriously why can the raid teams do good voice acting and decent story but the msq team is completely talentless.
Am I the only one who is glad that Sphene is not getting abandoned as a character after all the time they made us spend around her story in 7.0 (as well as making her model have more polygons than all the Scions put together)? For all the craip they put us through with Living Memory and her backstory dungeon, they better give her the Zenos treatment and bring her back to clean up her mess instead of being adorably sad about having to keep the memory ghosts fed souls no matter what.
Instead they waste money on a mobile game and give the hardcore loyal XIV fanbase scraps to eat because they are just here for the money in the end. The devs seriously need to play other MMO's and steal what works in terms of content. I quit after Yawntrail and went back to WoW for 2 months and it kicks dust in XIV's face in every regard except raiding and the first arc of the story. (Yawntrail doesn't count, it's an insult to a once amazing storyline) Which is sad and I hate to admit it. I loved this game. Once you reach a certain point in the game there is NOTHING to do besides raiding... and waiting months for measly scraps of MSQ, which has lost all credibility and believability by now. The writers are beyond incompetent and they are too hard headed to listen so let the game burn. XIV and my Lala has a special place in my heart but they are insulting us at this point. Never have I WANTED to play a game so badly but ... there is nothing. I want to puke if I think of doing another roulette....
Couldn't agree more with you about the msq. My friend and i were so bored going threw it. Other than the scuffed funeral everything else is just filler until last 2 min when the plot finally starts happening. Dungo and 24 man were fun. It's sad that the 24 man and raid stories are way more intersting and fun than the msq.
i agree, dungeon was fine , the 24 man story is good, and the crafter jobs stories are great too, with great world building and decent characters even with how limited they are.
@@pyro5159 mate I unsubbed and allowed my house to get demolished for the first time in 9 years since playing this game. DT is an abomination and Wuk LMAO is trash alongside the dude voice actor trying so hard to be a woman 🤣
I'm ngl, the ending would have hooked me more if I didn't think Sphene was already a villain that I didn't really care for. Like I felt the story wanted for me to say that Sphene was a good person and a good queen and "oh no Sphene might actually be evil" but I ain't seeing that. But ya, overall the patch left me with 2 moods, frustrated and numb.
Wow,been waiting for a video about that patch. I didnt play it since i have been unsubbed since octobre...but seeing this video...yeah...i wont come back until at least the next expansion. Read into some forum threads about that "content". Lets say...and im not proud of that really...i had erp session that lasted longer then this patch delivered on content.
The core issue with Dawntrail has more aligned with Japanese Business culture and Square Enix having its flag stuck in California. What that entails is you have someone in Square who probably should have never gotten the nod to write the MSQ, writing the story based on seniority within the company. Then as 7.0 panned from a story point of view, they were told to tone down their super special awesome OC. Then we all know SBI was consulting with Square at this point so the connections make sense that SBI basically pointed to that writer's OC who checked all the correct boxes, told SE that this will sell well. Again Square as a company with its current culture is just too slow to course correct until its too late. Is it too late to salvage Dawntrail after 7.1 drop...yes it is. They had one chance to salvage the story and blew it, and its not even Wuk's fault this time its the writers were playing around with the Idiot ball way too much, forgot their current stock of heroes are actually competent.
Thanks for the recap. At this point I just treat the entire 7.x patches MSQ as non-canon. I just ignore it altogether and skip the cutscene, because I know that Wuk is still there and the story onwards are beyond salvageable. At least the good thing is, the side contents are good. The AR is a treat, the new EX3 is also great (and finally Wuk doesn't steal out spotlight this time).
I can't believe the MSQ is so bad I stopped playing and couldn't bother finishing it getting to max level to see the rest of the games content. Right now I am completely removed from the game for the next 2 years, don't care if I lose my house plot. I'll just watch your videos to know whats going on lol
I do not like Wuk Lamat. I will not like her on a plane, I will not like her on a train. The train does seem amusingly apt since the story is now on rails.
I may just wait for next expansion because my wife is super slow getting through Stormblood to Endwalker... also, I dont like what im hearing of Dawntrail.
doing the game until the end of 6.0 is a great way of ending it. 6.1 to 5 were very mid, they are far more enjoyble if you can do it in one sitting without having to wait 2 years. 7.0 is absolute garbage, not in a hyperbolic way, and so far its best just to be skipped. hopefully they can get back on track, because if the game continues this way. 6.0 is the best place to stop playing.
Love how the echo turned into the cheapest plot device of the whole story. Game ended on 6.0 for me (and even then it had some horrible holes in that story). Anything post that is just not worth wasting time with.
Unless square uses the money this game makes to put back into its development and make it better, the game will continue to stagnate and foster more boredom.
They are pandering to the WoW players that jump ship the last time so they don't jump ship back into WoW. That's why the focus on raids instead of story.
@@RicardoSantos-oz3ujif anything the devs are completely clueless! They just dropkicked pvp with the new update, story is in shambles, and there isn't enough raid to justify 5 month gaps between patches. Wow raids have their carrots properly lubed, several difficulties of raids, enough gear and special gear effects to justify grinding over and over. XIV have some glam, a minion and a mount.
One of the first scenes showed a father and son reconnecting after the years of time discrepancy apart, and I thought that was an interesting thing to witness; the aftereffects of the big event, and how everyday people are dealing (or not dealing) with it, but it was over in an instant. Probably the sole good thing out of the entire MSQ this patch. The Alexandrians are awful. They've been so insulated and coddled from hardship that they have literal mental breakdowns at the slightest mishap. Even Eulmorans weren't this bad. Even the GARLEANS put on their bootstraps when shit hit the fan. Not the Alexandrians. Instead of focusing on the real issues plaguing a civilization that's orchestrated its own entropic decline and growing destabilization, we have to sit here and watch them cry like toddlers while sitting around waiting for others to make the hard choices for them. Even when Turali are mentioned to be around who hold more traditional Turali beliefs on death, none of them speak up. It's like they don't exist because if any of them speak up it would be inconvenient to their little plot point of Alexandrian being a kingdom of crybabies. Finding out more about Galool Ja’s mother could have been interesting, so naturally they take the most, boring, uninteresting, nothing route with this. The kid’s mother turns out to be a nobody healer part of Zoraal Ja’s unit when he went to kill a Tural Vidraal, where she had this obsession with him. She willingly does everything he wants in exchange for being an obedient lapdog, and to get some dick, culminating into tying him with her forever by shoving a baby in her face and expecting him to abandon his ambition to be her husband. So, naturally, Zoraal Ja has a complete meltdown, causing her to cry that he didn’t love her, dumps her kid by a lake and presumably dies off-screen. Nothing about Zoraal Ja is revealed that we didn’t already know, so it just ends up being a massive waste of time; the kid goes “Thanks, I know this now.” and continues on like normal. Koana gets a bit of backstory in Shaaloani, the time-wasting region. After a single quest, cat man develops a hard-on for the rroneek, and helps the locals defeat a dinosaur. It’s so rushed and contrived; he wants to learn why he was abandoned by his parents, and then ten minutes later, he does. A beast that has not appeared in twenty or so years attacks, and then a hunter who knew his parents tells him a story about his parents being heroic by distracting a beast. That’s it. Koana, being the super smart character he was portrayed as, charges the dinosaur, but thanks to plot armour, just gets his glasses cracked, instead of being smashed into a bloody pulp like he should. The railway story makes no sense either. The issue we were presented with, was not just getting the rroneek off the track, but also keeping them from becoming stressed from the train noises. We do that by sending out the aetheric whistle from its predator. Wouldn't that be worse in terms of stress? The animal would internalize that their predator is constantly in the area they live in, naturally getting very stressed. Also why is that making the animal slowly waddle off the rails like there is no danger? That doesn't just make no sense, it's useless to the train unless they happen to move at walking speed at the time. Alliance Raid storyline-wise, I wasn't that fond of Bakool Ja Ja to begin with, but so far in Echoes of Vana'diel he comes across as completely boring. His lines are just generic utilitarian support dialogue, none of the friction or easy gags you would expect from a reformed over-the-top villain. How did the writers take a violent narcissist with two heads that represent different personalities, and make him so boring? I'm just extremely fed up with practically every single issue being just "learn our culture and the perfect solution comes out of nowhere".
When the 24 man raid is 10 times better & more interesting than the MSQ...OOOF.This expansion should've been about Garlemald,it's reconstruction and it's surrounding areas.
To be honest, a Garlemald restoration MSQ would be boring. What would we even face? I honestly feel that they had the foundations for something great with Dawntrail, but they fumbled the concepts up so hard its unreal.
100% spot on about the story. I do wish the dungeons weren't so difficult though, or at least got easier if you choose Trusts and struggle to dodge the mechanics that one shot you.
Just from watching patch notes you realize how this game became f***ed up . Yoshi is like hey we are not gonna give you everything on 7.1 you guys need to sub another month to get the savage alliance raid ?? Wtf ??? Wait and see how no one is gonna come back even for 7.2 when savages are out . Then they will realize how far they messed up on this extension. The next big move after 7.2 failure is gonna be Yoshi calling big streamers to promote the game again . Square need to understand that they need to let Yoshi go cause nothing will change . He did a great job for carrying the game for more than 10 years but enough is enough. They gotta move on to another mmo cause this formula is not working anymore and they will understand it the hard way.
@@shawnscouten5184 NAH NAH the company is fine...they just need to remaster more classic games and put out the finale of the Final Fantasy 7 remake while still going with Playstation exclusivity...even as it costs them more and more money.
While I didn't get too much story-wise from this patch, I will say there are a few things that I don't really agree with as much from this vid. For the Sphene death bit, it doesn't seem like people know the full story of what happened. I assume the timeline for most people are: Zoraal Ja attacked the city, WoL killed him, Sphene died in the conflict, and Living Memory lost it's power in the process. As for how they feel about the Endless being lost, Feels like they'll have a moment or two for that, especially since we're going to be talking about Endless again with the whole Neo Regulator thing, this patch seemed to be more focused on the people coming to terms with mortality as a concept to start off. For the "war" bit, in 7.0 it seemed as though 95% of it was Zoraal Ja and bots, with us now finding out more about his specific faction of people working for him (although I do think they made mention of him pushing for feral soul development/use in 7.0. For the actual people of Solution 9, they didn't really seem to be any real animosity, and the people of Tuliyollal only saw the bots and saw or were told of Zoraal. The combination of having family in S9 and Zoraal Ja himself having most of the blame probably lightened any real conflict between the nations, we'll see if they go into this more in the future I guess. I hate, hate *hate* that they gave us barely anything for Zoraal in 7.0. Like there's a bit in this patch where Wuk goes "Oh yeah, Zoraal was a great brother to me but he changed as the rite of succession came about" or something along those lines and I was just like "WELL, I WISH WE COULD'VE SEEN LIKE ONE MOMENT OF THAT" Like, give us an echo cutscene or *something* at least. For Gulool again I don't think people know the full details of Oblivion and Sphene, and the fact that they came back with Gulool, seemingly were involved with fighting back against Zoraal Ja, saving the rest of Alexandria, and with Wuk formally announced as his guardian I assume means that she gave the go ahead for him to learn from the people from Oblivion. He's also more a king in name without any real power or authority (so definitely no military control or anything like that), since during the credits there was a bit about him choosing what kind of ruler he would be when he's older. For protection, I assume they trust the people that worked to beat Zoraal Ja. For the trains (which I also wasn't the happiest about during 7.0) and why we don't use electrope in the rest of the world now: The main reason electrope is able to be used in Heritage Lost so easily is the massive amount of lighting there. All electrope does is convert lightning to other elements. The main thing we should be looking at is Arcanima, which could give us ways to convert any kind of aether to any other. I assume this is another reason Y'sh is studying a bunch of Alexandrian stuff atm including Living Memory. I don't think we got the details on how much lightning is needed to make Electrope a reliable source of energy, but I'd say for now it would be better to rely on existing tech we have as we do more research. Would probably also be a good idea to look into the details of that levin-sickness a bit more if we were to decide to focus on this lightning energy. We might get some sort of Electrope-like train at some point but barely any time has passed since the end of DT so it's not like they could make a whole electrope train and tracks immediately, and we're trying to get a reliable way to get to Tuliyollal now for people to return. We know Koana has been in talks with Alexandria to form programs for people to return to Tuli and get used to living outside the dome, so there are probably also general trade talks that are happening there and Solution 9's main thing *is* electrope so I'd be surprised if that didn't come up in them. Gonna be honest, for Koana's arc I was starting to zone out cause I was sleepy after coming back from work so feel free to rip into me if I get anything wrong here. What I took away from his whole thing was keeping that same Reason that is in his title and working to find the solution everyone would be happy with even though he had some beef with the nomadic people. I could've honestly done without the random person who just happened to be there going "oh there was actually a reason the whole time and your parents loved you tons and gave their lives" and just have his parents specifically be bad people. Could still do the whole "Tuli is my family" and could have done a "I'll do what my parents couldn't" or somfin. Also, I don't think this was the *exact* same monster, just one of them. There are also a ton of reasons why animals could be doing weird shit so they might have been thinking of a hundred different things before this predator. They make note that this one is incredibly far from where it usually lives so it makes sense they weren't expecting it and only realised when Eren pointed out an aetherial signature moving towards them. For general Wuk appearances, I honestly assumed they would do like a back and forth between her and Koana, where one is always in Tuli if the other one has to go out and do stuff. Fuck. I wrote way too much about this but it did make me think about 7.0 a bit more and the in-game time between it and the patch. Just my general thoughts after finishing the patch a day or two ago, watching this vid, and having no one else to talk to about this for a bit while I wait for friends to catch up. TLDR; Patch gave me stuff I was looking for in 7.0, some unnecessary stuff, and really fun battle content. Nothing super plothole-y, and looking forward to working on Ultimate and maps while I wait for MSQ to ramp up
exactly! why wuk is at that funeral, if anyone that represents Tul that need to go, isn't Koana a better choice? it doesn't make any sense~ no one is angry against her, everyone is like "oh she killed sphene, oh let's try to move to our queen's murderer country, so that we can forget the pain of losing the queen" , i was like huh? And, if your queen gets killed, shouldn't there be some like "Revenge " or like "Rebellion" Group to revenge their queen? (maybe that was being address at behind? i not sure, i skipped that last cutscene ==) and isn't Sol9 the city with high technology? why aren't ppl from Tul wants to live in Sol9? why ppl from Sol9 wants to go to Tul? ok maybe family re-union, but isn't Sol9 the better place to live in, shouldn't they ask their fam to move to Sol9 cuz of the convenient and Quality of Life changes? I remember that the start of the scene there is someone talking about learning to lit a fire or something, why not ppl just move to Sol9 and utilize the technology? or at least, move the tech to Tul? And I remember there is a scene where we need to talk to ppl in Sol9 to ask why they are not going to Tul, and the start of the scene is showing WoL and Wuk walking together, i just skip that scene. I am not a skipper for MSQ, but I can't stand to just talk to Wuk. at this point, i seriously just want to see Wuk fail, and never appear in MSQ anymore. LOL
the patch had probably the dumbest scene in all of the msq quest since ARR, with koana throwing all his self preservation away by trying to bodyblock something that is basicly a 5 ton truck moving full speed towards him to try to save a god damn cow, and i dont care if those things are familie to the tribes people, you dont throw your life away for something you had a grudge against 10 minutes earlier.

Lyse got her ideals stomped on by the Garleans and even by her Ala Mighen countrymen themselves at first. They did not even wanted to rebel anymore. The only saving grace for 7.1 is that they didn’t play ‘Smile’ during the train scene
It's easily the worst expansion theme to date. Completely tone deaf to its own narrative.
I never want to hear that song again.
I'm surprised they didn't play that when Spheeeennne popped up again.

"Just story Skip this expansion after you finish 6.5"
Tbh just story skip after 6.0 period. Nothing of true import happens in post EW. Basically the void was bad but now is... still kinda bad?
And we found vrtras sister, who proceeded to not do much.
Honestly I wish I skipped endwalker.
Finish Shadowbringers and then write the rest of the story yourself in a notepad file. Itll probably lead to a more satisfying outcome overall for most people
Everything post ShB has been a consistent downward slope in quality
the story peaked in Shadowbringers. I expected Endwalker to play out differently but I don't think it's bad.
The train got more backstory than zoral ja.
And almost more screen time.
Oof
Bumped into this randomly on RUclips, and glad I'm not the only one disliking the direction the writing has been taking, good video my guy.
@renemuller7383 Wuk Lamat is bad, but man, it's so much more than just her though.
The twins have not recovered from the lobotomy they got in 7.0.
"Queen Furry was getting her hourly fellatio by the writing team" I lost it 😭😂

It is abundantly clear that whatever process they use to select people for their writing team needs to be reevaluated. Something clearly went horribly wrong over there. The people who wrote Heavensward and Shadowbringers cannot possibly be the ones who wrote Derptrail.

The prime issue is that a LOT of this has not been talked about, it doesn't mean it isn't considered, but rather on the back burner, remember:
-All deaths caused by the events of Endwalker
-Garlemald in chaos
-Still existing creatures that need to be put down (possible some that we missed even after the role quests.)
-Trade/Supply routes greatly disturbed by the events
I mean I could go on, but think about what losing so many people would do to the economy all at once.
The twist would be a lot more interesting if a character that died in the story hadn't returned as the villain in the patch like 4 times already now
The game ended after Endwalker for me. It looks like they went cringe.
Thanks to dawntrail I was finally able to cure my addiction to the game 😂 i enjoyed my 10 years with the game but im ready for something new
Thanks for letting us know, we all really needed to know what was going to happen with FF14 without you in it. Such a big loss.
@BaghNakh1 im sorry your cat girl is your whole personality now and you are blind to see how bad, boring and repetitive the game its getting 🤷♂️
@@xpgainz say it again, but this time, without the tears.
Same.
Been following since 1.0
This xpac gave me the same feel that Warlords of Draenor gave me back when I was still playing WoW, I know all to well the signs to jump ship after so many MMOs.
The ironic part is that the game is becoming the very thing that made it popular as people fled WoW, lol.
@@xpgainz Holy shit based 😆
Yeah the amount of times I was yelling at my monitor 'oh my God I DONT FREAKING CARE' when playing thru just about all of this really made me just want to go back to ShB/EW. Dawntrail made me take my first extended break from the game since I first started during 4.0.
Thats how i felt mostly with ShB. It had good ideas and a great climax CUTSCENE, but yeah not a fan. I did that completely with ff16 and 6.1+
This writing team has lost their damn minds.
And they get paid for conjuring up this garbage. Life ain't fair, is it.
@@Ruzgfpegk There is the issue of the sensivity consultants that they hired for this xpac, I wouldn't be surprised if it was SBI, and they werent there for "sensivity" but rather to writer stories, they had their stinky fingers in every flop this year, EVERY!
Your reaction to the first cutscene was basically identical to mine. But at least they didn't play Smile this time.
I just found it so interesting that, for every plot point in 7.1, you can find an analogous example that is done better in previous patches.
I wouldn't be surprised if the DT writers are just ripping off past events with mild alterations.
@@durantes The Sphene imposter was especially unimpactful for me because we've already seen it in 5.1-5.3 with Elidibus/"Warrior of Light"
@@iPlayOnSpica The writer for Dawntrail is literally just attempting to copy Shadowbringers. So in 7.3 we'll find out what Ascian it is.
@@Shatterstar They really are.
Memoria is too similar to Amaurot and now Sphene is being Elidibus.
Be prepared to eat a shoe when in 7.3 Sphene summons Necron because something something Despair, Dynamis, just like Elidibus becomes "salvation given form"
The "twist" is gonna be: it's not an Ascian, is a Lucavi, MARK MY WORDS!
Sry to crush your hopes but sadly we get a lot more of Wuk lamat according to Yoshi P
Considering the expac has revolved around the relationship between kids and their parents it will 100% come up at some point
I just did the role quests yesterday after reading through 2.5 of them i realised they are all the same story, theif stole artifact, hunt theif, retrieve artifact. So skipped the rest of the cutscenes, who the hell thought i would want to do the same story 5 times.
Look at it the bright way: we got about as much battle content in this patch as we did in the entirety of 7.0
I cackled all the way through the Koana part. It was so dumb, it was glorious!
Also: why can't they give King Baby Ja new clothes?
Because his current clothes make him look like an uncircumcised penis
The kid’s mother was basically a simp😂
Heh heh. My thoughts exactly.
You could argue that Estinian is the MC of Heavensward, like how Wuk is for Dawntrail, but he never overshadowed you, the Hero... intact both were as important as each other.
It isn't about the wol it's about wuk since we need a calm down from endwalker
Ysayle is the MC of HW. Estinien is just the main antagonist
@@RicardoSantos-oz3uj how is estinien the antagonist? lol. We most not be playing the same game. Thordan is literally the antagonist
I am a bit disappointed about Gulool Ja's Parentage. Apparently he was simply born after all. From the literal only female of his Species in all the land. Who then vanished.
Oh well, maybe they will still reveal that there was some science or worse involved
let it be known, i here declare.... .... Evil Sphene is Golul Jas Soultransfered Mother... ... (god please let it not be true)
The only thing I genuinely liked about this patch was the new dungeon and the aliance raid, that's all. Also, my reaction on seeing Wuk Lmao on the cutscene about us trying to eat our tacos in peace was literally the same as yours 🤣
See you on 7.2
sphenes burden is also pretty good... ... a nightmare in party finder, but pretty good
My static leader put it perfectly: Bad MSQ = Excellent Raids.
The whole cows being turali too thing felt like vegan propoganda lol
I’m so glad there’s a critical channel of FFXIV. There are way too many fanboys out there😅🎉
Yeah, it is a breath of fresh air.
90% of the videos that come up when searching for ffxiv dawntrail are criticisms of it
You clearly don't read many comments when this is your conclusion. The loud majority are throwing (shallow) criticism around and have been so spoiled by ShB&EW, that they forgot how FFXIV (ARR, HW and SB) used to keep the WoL as a relevant background-character.
@ this one is much more detailed; alot of research went into this video. 👍
another major problem for me is, Dawntrail will stay as a huge shit stain in the timeline of FF14, even if the next and future expansion would become great, it would mark a point in the history of expansions that should be skipable for free and should never ever be mentioned again, like WoW did with Shadowlands and the Jailer that was removed from artworks... but if they continue with shit like DT in future expansions or create even worse expacs, then Endwalker was really the true end of FF14 with a bunch of really bad filler arcs at the end...
Funny thing is endwalker was terrible writing wise.
ShB was the grand climax, EW was the Fanfiction sequel and DT is it's own thing entirely.
FF14: Yawntrail
As a Stormblood apologist, Lyse doesn't look so bad now does she? SB doesn't feel so bad now does it?
Mr incredible uncanny reaction: its gonna be 5 months of nothing until next patch. what are the odds of it improving?
I feel like the fact im still playing the game after all this should be my clear sign of an addiction... or masochism
i just unsub. f* it, my time is limited to spend with lazy and uninspired work
I find the gameplay quite enjoyable unfortunately. If all this game had was story, I would have quit long ago.
This game is made to capture your soul. Your ok
A Sweet Baby Inc. trademark.
A Fucked story.
Is that you?"
(spoilers for stormblood, but if you're here, you probably don't need another spoiler warning)
Post-Stormblood:
1) We beat up Zenos.
2) Zenos comes back, in the flesh but obviously an imposter
3) We have to figure out who the imposter is
Post-Dawntrail:
1) We beat up Sphene
2) Sphene comes back, in the flesh but obviously an imposter
3) We'll have to figure out who the imposter is and why did they hack the memories of the people (speculatively)
I just see this as a Post-Stormblood parody and the writers are going to have to spice it up to make it actually interesting.
my guess is that during the final 7.0 trial against queen eternal when Sphene was parcially restored that caused a split between what we fought as queen eternal and a safety backup from before the restoration.
So basically the entire thing is a glitch
Just cut out the middleman and have Zenos be the one who came back in Sphene’s body. At least then it would be entertaining.
@@shawnscouten5184 that would be funny af
I actually more closely associated it with Shadowbringers and fake Ardbert (mostly because he/Elidibus was mingling with the citizens instead of fake Zenos/Elidibus being mostly a military presence.)
..I'd prefer Zenos.
I'm a proud MSQ skipper now.
Yawn trail was so bad it sent me back to WoW. To wow!
FF14 Wuklords of Draenor
Remember how they butchered all classic warchiefs?
I agree completely. Dynamis was an underwhelming substance in hindsight. And there's cause to be afraid they'll repeat that mistake with electrope.
All that shit about the bisons? Yeah, I gave zero fs about it. I skipped everything just to get it over with.
This was the first time since I started playing the game that I didn't do the msq as soon as it was released. I'm still at the very beginning, and just starting to read the text is making me sleepy. On the other hand, I did the alliance raid first day with a full blind group, and it was really fun to do.
I keep thinking of that old TRAINS commercial when I think of current day FFXIV. Lots and lots of trains!!!!
Speaking of Wuk, SE made her EN VA re-record her Sphene fight lines
Do the people actually KNOW we killed Sphene and did all that? I don't think they do which is why they were chill with it. I might have missed that if they did know what We and Wuk did
I gave it another chance. I should not have.

Then you had to speak with 3 people.
Gotta love how when Wookiee Lamar tries to comfort the child instead of confronting his anguish, and admitting that she just quipped a platitude to him, she backs off saying, "Sorry, I'll let you grieve in your own way." The sheer audacity, no introspection, no empathy. Just, "You're wrong, but I'll feel bad if I force you to be right."
I'm pretty sure your assumption is right, by the way.
In the fight Prishe has a lot of voice dialogue talking about the power of Altana and the Light of Altana, and there is a quip by her, "You couldn't possibly have HER blessing too, could you?!!!"
YOU'RE ON THIN ICE SQUARE and XIV DEV TEAM!
7:19 I love the intentional cut to Wuk Lamat XD.
What kind of writing problems did Endwalker have? Not arguing, just never really noticed any issues myself.
Having an whole segment where Wuk Lamat isn't there or barely, wether it's good or not is a blessing and enjoyable. Plus Gulool is...my favorite here
I posted this on the forums and stand by it "we make solution 9 like dalaran in wow and teleport it to meracydia.
Yoshi PR. As that's all that he does.
Dawntrail was definitely boring. So far, and Wuk Lamat was annoying, seems like she's written more to please the small number of weirdos in the West lol. Gulool Ja was cute though. So far Endwalker is my most favorite expansion/story.
Dawntrail is so bad, I miss stormblood storytelling.
I miss StB Zenos
Patches won't redeem this doomed expansion.
Zoral ja's reaction to the baby had wheezing lmfao
It was pretty eye-rolling. Considering Zoraal had ZERO interactions with his father outside of patricide, it's hard to pin down a relationship between those two.
To be fair, it's the most realistic he's ever been in the story emotionally considering this woman essentially tried to baby trap him.
Stayed subscribed for all of EW despite how meh it was, dropped my sub in 2 months of DT and never resubbed
Awesome video! Looking forward to your next ones o7.
Imagine if that trainw as the first _bullet_ train we woud have gotten in game! That would have been so cool!
Straight up said diverse peoples lol not hiding it...and yeah the raids have been good this expansion
I noticed the agenda there
@Silverman216 was hoping for more Yaana but no! I guess we get more of the same ol Dawntrail msq staring Snor Lamat
At this point I'm only excited for the combat content, I'm so sick of wuk and tural and the whole story surrounding it.
Thanks for supplying the bangers.
skip all dawntrail xD and wait for next
I actually like 7.1 however I do agree that the whole buffalo on tracks could have been shaved down a bit tbh
Worst expansion. Sadly this expansion made me lose interest in the game. Ive enjoyed all other FF games i played except for FF14 now.
Unless square uses the money this game makes to put back into its development and make it better, the game will continue to stagnate and foster more boredom.
They are pandering to the WoW players that jump ship the last time so they don't jump ship back into WoW. That's why the focus on raids instead of story.
Nope, they making Balan Wonderland 2. Please look forward to it.
Genuinely felt good about the alliance raid side story, so thats lookimg forward too
Just from watching patch notes you realize how this game became f***ed up .
Square isn’t gonna do anything. They aren’t going to fire the guy who runs the game that basically is singlehandedly keeping their company afloat.
Nothing super plothole-y, and looking forward to working on Ultimate and maps while I wait for MSQ to ramp up
So I don’t have to buy this one then?
Shadowbringers>Endwalker>Heavensward>Stormblood>A Realm reborn>(unrelated) White Knight Chronicles 1&2)>FFXIV 1.0> FF XI>................(huge list)...........Chrono Trigger>...........(huge list) Legend of Dragoon>....(Huge list)... > Whatever the fuck Dawntrail is.
exactly! why wuk is at that funeral, if anyone that represents Tul that need to go, isn't Koana a better choice? it doesn't make any sense~ no one is angry against her, everyone is like "oh she killed sphene, oh let's try to move to our queen's murderer country, so that we can forget the pain of losing the queen" , i was like huh? And, if your queen gets killed, shouldn't there be some like "Revenge " or like "Rebellion" Group to revenge their queen? (maybe that was being address at behind? i not sure, i skipped that last cutscene ==)
and isn't Sol9 the city with high technology? why aren't ppl from Tul wants to live in Sol9? why ppl from Sol9 wants to go to Tul? ok maybe family re-union, but isn't Sol9 the better place to live in, shouldn't they ask their fam to move to Sol9 cuz of the convenient and Quality of Life changes? I remember that the start of the scene there is someone talking about learning to lit a fire or something, why not ppl just move to Sol9 and utilize the technology? or at least, move the tech to Tul?
And I remember there is a scene where we need to talk to ppl in Sol9 to ask why they are not going to Tul, and the start of the scene is showing WoL and Wuk walking together, i just skip that scene. I am not a skipper for MSQ, but I can't stand to just talk to Wuk.
at this point, i seriously just want to see Wuk fail, and never appear in MSQ anymore. LOL
