The power window switches may have been upgraded to illuminate, it was a matter of soldering in the SMD LEDs and resistors. If they didn't have the illumination wire the power could be jumped internally to the window power. They would illuminate full time while igintion was on.
I had this colour and ford did repaint it but were very keen for me to talk about it. I know that it began to come off again so it wasn’t a great outcome for it, other than that it was a great car👍🏻
I’ve bought a few set of the eBay ones for cars I’ve owned that didn’t have them. They work ok with no issues but the light leaks a bit around the actual switch. They do the job tho.
I am the second owner of a 96 XH XR6 ford ute , the last 4 years paint is deteriorated, its blue , only had to replace one badge, worn cracked, i love driving it , using a tarp makes them sweat so rust will eventually happen
Congrats mate! Pickles would have purchased this from an Insurance company for $200 (believe it or not). Going by looking at the rear, it has been repaired (boot, spoiler and bumper) considering that paint is fresher & the fake MKII badge. Plus the rear boot badges don't align up with factory OEM positioning. BA MKII is when the window switch illumination were introduced. Easy to spot where the base of the switch is white (rather than non-black). It would have been even a better score if it had the ZF6 speed. Looks like a plug a play fix mate. Nevertheless, awesome buy. Looking forward to more fix-her-up vids. Cheers
Cheers mate, it’s definitely had some work… still a good little fixer upper’a. Waiting on some headlights to arrive so hoping to have it back on the road soonish.
It is a mark II mate, I had one same colour, paint codes are different Mark I to II, the knock you gear will be the gearbox rear mount, diff bushes have multi knock noise as you drive off only, I bought too many cars to count from pickles, best 1 was a BF Mark III lpg only in 2016, same dent as yours, $ 300 and I still have it today, but good buy mate.
@@brianmcdonald517 Legend, thanks mate. I haven’t got around to getting underneath properly yet but I’ll certainly check the gearbox mount. I’m assuming you’re talking about the donut coupler? They’re great cars if they’re shown a bit of love, they’re getting old now too so all of those little fixes can only be good for em to keep them going for many years to come yet.
The metal auto line at the front sometimes rust through and leak, but maybe bf has aluminium? I rember xt new when was in school was $20,890 but looked terrible in police specs.
Nice bro! I've got a Shockwave Blue MK2 BF! I've heard these shockwave's we're rare? Or barely any falcons came in shockwave blue do you think its true?
Cheers mate. Ah nice one, such a nice color. I wouldn’t say they’re rare but there certainly are or the most common ones to see around that’s for sure… and most of them do have flaking clear coat so this one is pretty good considering.
Was that Pickles Bibra Lake? How hard was their process to buy a salvage car? could you pick it up with a ute and car trailer or does it have to be a proper tilt-tray truck? did you look at the car before placing bids online? do you have to do a driver induction before you're allowed to pick up a car?
@@jasonswift7098 Hey mate, yep this one was from Bibra Lake. They used to let people go and view the cars prior to the auction but since Covid they stopped doing that and you can only go off what you can see in the photos so it can be hit or miss when you purchase from there. They do have a small description of the damage and wether the car is a repairable write off or not. For ease of relicensing you preferably want the car to be WOVR/NA which means the car is not registered as ever been in an accident and are generally a lot easier to get back on the road. As for picking up the car, you can take a trailer just as I did but the car must be loaded by the forklifts on site. You’re not allowed to winch or even drive the cars on to the trailer, even if they do run. Hope that helps mate.
@@Jeenzy79 Thank you, Right I see, the upcoming pickles auction is on the 31st July and I have a few on my watchlist, the problem is the photos don't always show every bit of damage and its hard to make an assumption of what parts need to be replaced before making a bid price. So even if the car runs and can drive you're not allowed to drive it onto a trailer?
@@jasonswift7098 Yeah mate, unfortunately you can only go by what you can see in the pics… which aren’t always the greatest example of the car. And no, you can’t drive them onto a trailer… even if it runs. Loading the car isn’t a problem tho, you just get a slip from the office when you get there, you give that slip to the yardies and they will bring the car out on a forklift and load it for you anyway. You don’t have to do anything apart from strap it down.
@@Jeenzy79 I'd be too afraid the cowboy forkie will be rough with lifting up the car with the long tynes, it can cause damage to the underneath of the car.
@@jasonswift7098 They’re pretty good mate. They load it up right in front of you and you can even guide them onto your trailer. I’ve bought a few cars from there now with no issues at all.
Wow! My 2010 Territory 7 Seater AWD Ghia in better condition than that, had less damage than this & was written off by NRMA. You mean I could have bought it off pickles, fixed it, re-registered it and kept driving it?
It is very highly likely mate. I think the panel beaters must quote a high cost to repairs as they’d generally use new reproduction parts so my guess is the insurance companies tend to write the off as repairable write off and just get what they can get back from the sale 🤷🏼♂️ (thats what I’m guessing)
How much did you buy it for? I think I might do this as a side hustle... anything under 1 grand is a bargain for sure you can flip it and atleast triple or even quadruple your investment
@@eosyt3477 Hey mate, yep I bought it online and picked it up myself with a hired car trailer. You can pick them up yourself but you’re not allowed to load them, so even if the car is in a running condition like this one, you cannot just drive it into the trailer yourself. They will load it onto the trailer for you with a forklift… Safety risk I assume. Hope that helps.

Just like a good fishing spot 😆 I know ow what you mean mate but unfortunately it’s almost always wrecking yards and not other enthusiasts that were bidding against… they buy them to just part them out.

Cheers mate, and thanks for the sub. I’ll look in to that for sure, the wind noise in this video was pretty full on wasn’t it.
