I swear, you're the hardest working retro gaming youtuber.
Haha I like to keep busy and entertain people
On behalf of the VGE team we thank you !
Hahaha get out of here
^100% this…..by far the hardest worker
Just glad everyone enjoys it
This classic cores need savestates support, I hope SRG320 can look into it.
It’s a pretty big job but you never know
Came here to say this. Absolutely love the core and huge fan of SRG320's work, but there are a lot of games I'd rather just emulate on the PC rather than play them on the mister due to the lack of save states.
@@chrismoon2961 Same here, but on original console as it supports save states with the FXpak Pro cartridge.
A Satellaview setup guide would be very helpful. Thanks VGE!
I’ll keep it in mind
Yes, Rendering Rangers does give AMIGA vibes, in fact, the game was developed by Manfred Trenz, director of the Turrican series.
I knew it haha
I LOVE the game legit a top 5 SNES/SFC game. I have some issues with the MSU-1 version (which has AMAZING music) on the FX Pak Pro but that might be because I have a slow SD Card in there.
I would love to know how to play satellaview games on MiSTer FPGA.
It would also be great if we could have save states but that's just a wish.
I may do the tutorial. We shall see
Definitely into the Satellaview setup guide. Want to play those Zelda adds!
I’ll get around to it :)
Rendering Ranger is by Manfred Trenz, Turrican creator and C64/Amiga master!
Makes sense with the Amiga vibes then
I would like to see you make a Satellaview tutorial for MiSTer if at all possible. I wouldn't mind seeing you offer some recommendations for Satellaview games either. I've got one Satellaview game from the Zelda franchise, but I haven't looked too deeply into it past that point.
Enough people asked that I’ll do it :)
@@VideoGameEsoterica Sweet!
👍
I wonder if support for the Super FX GSU 3 will be added once the new version of Doom is released.
About 10 years ago, I was an active member on Super Mario World Central, working on Yoshi's Island hacks.
One of the limitations I had was the 2MiB ROM limit of the GSU 2. It would be cool to see some updates to other SFX games with MSU enhancements and ROM extensions.
I’ve been wondering that myself. We will have to wait and see if it’s possible
So it's like a Super Duper Nintendo now.
Ultra Nintendo 63.97
Awesome! So stoked to try this on my MiSTer
A fun new SNES
Do you think the mushrooms 🍄 in super Mario are psychedelic mushrooms
Axelay is graphically impressive
No I think they are immature toads that get sacrificed to Mario’s voracious appetite for toad meat
@@VideoGameEsoterica oh I see i learn something today I can't wait to tell my mother lol
Didn't satellaview games already work. I literally played some on the SNES core a month ago.
What changed?
tutorial please. thanks for all you do
👍
Pardon my ignorance on this topic, but if the SNES core was relatively “complete” in terms of its progress and accuracy compared to a real SNES, now that the dev has completely rewritten the entire ram structure of the core to accommodate this maker game that was never designed to run on original hardware, does that mean the SNES core is LESS accurate now to accommodate this game?
No. It’s just a different way to achieve the same goal. Portions of code that would live in ram just live elsewhere now. Think of adding an addition to your house. You still have your OG house…but now with morr space
@@VideoGameEsoterica I think I see what you’re saying. But if you already made your house as an exact copy of your neighbor’s house, and you add a room for more space, it’s not an exact copy anymore. I guess I’ll just leave it to the experts on this one
Basically it’s still cycle accurate. It’s now just beyond the spec on an actual SNES. When you just need it to be a stock snes it is. When you need that expanded ram it’s there
@@VideoGameEsoterica ah ok that makes sense, thanks
Srg320 just doubled the amount of cart RAM from 128KB to 256KB. Original hardware also supports this. Also, the core is not cycle accurate. There are still bugs and Srg320 recently made logic analyzer traces to see how original hardware behaves.
Thank God for Luigiblood and his preservation efforts to the Satellaview.
And to srg320 for making this work on the Mister, which hasn't been done before.
All that is missing is Sufami Turbo support, and the SNES core is sorta complete.
It’s always fun to see the continued evolution of SNES on MiSTer
Wait, you couldn’t play SV games on MiSTer? I could have sworn I played through the Zelda BS quadrilogy. Huh, must have been on my super NT
You could but there’s been some under the hood changes
Hm, I wonder if they ever fixed an issue with Mario no Super Picross I noticed when I used to have a MiSTer, it had to do with the pseudo-transparency (like in kirby's dream land 3) in the puzzle menu not rendering correctly, I can't really say now because I no longer have one lol
Interesting. I’ll ask around
Just like you do "night school" videos for software emulators that may require special configuration, it would also be good if you did "night school" videos for MiSTer cores that do as well. Not just Satellaview but also things like hard drive images for eg. the Amiga core.
I may in the future now that there’s a new wave of users coming into the party
Have you played Gunlord? That run n gun looks like a Turrican-like which reminded me of Gunlord. Have you done a Dreamcast indie game overview?
I’ve played Gunlord. Was fun but not my fav. Not much on indie Dreamcast yet
I wish there was a presidential candidate who would fight for OUR needs..
"Under my administration, ALL FPGA cores will have save states. Furthermore, we WILL have fully functional Jaguar and 3DO cores by the end of 2025!!"
*Thunderous applause*
Hahaha I was wondering where this comment was going til I hit expand
I saw kitrinx(sp?) in a few interviews recently where she was asked about the SNES core and if the RAM could be upgraded to accommodate the Super Mario Maker you mentioned... and I thought she said that such a thing would be hard to do on the DE10-Nano board... and they are looking into perhaps migrating to the upcoming/not-out-yet DE25-Nano... and that likely it would be doable on that board.. but it looks like srg320 pulled it off anyhow. Nice to see.
I wonder what the final specs for the DE25-Nano will look like? I don't think it is expected to have any significant increase of LEs, but probably faster RAM (DDR4?) and an updated ARM processor. Price is also unknown but it may be the replacement for the DE10-Nano (both for Terassic and for MiSTer FPGA) and become the preferred academic FPGA development board... and be in the same ballpark.
Sometimes hard doesn’t mean impossible :) I’ll have a vid on DE25 soon
Would you please make a video on which cores support save states? I’m hoping to get a MiSTer Pi in round 2 and I’ve had a really hard time finding info on specific things like that
I’ll add it to the potentials list
I was just looking for older videos of yours that cover the SNES core, then BAM, new video! I'm having an issue with Super Mario RPG, I have tried multiple roms, but the game keeps freezing. Have you heard of any issues with this game running? Other SA1 chip games run fine.
Nope should run 100%. Sounds like a bad file
@@VideoGameEsoterica Thank you! I will look for a good file.
Does the analogue pocket do satellaview games? I'd like to check out the Zelda remake
Honestly not sure haven’t tried
i want to take the time to say thanks for all the things you bring to my attention! thanks VGE!
That’s what I’m here for :)
I think that SGR should stand for "SUPER RADICAL GUY"!!!
Haha one idea for sure
@@VideoGameEsoterica - I find that the "Radical" meets the RETRO world awesomly 🙂
I hope the SNES core gets save states one day if that's possible.
It’s more than just an add on to the core. It would probably require a partial rewrite
Mario with Zelda music is interesting...
It’s a vibe
I would definitely appreciate a tutorial 🐛
I’ll try and make one soon
I’m appreciate a vid on satellaview games
I’ll add it to the list
Save state!! Save state!! Save state!!
State save? Lol
stae savte!!
I need a mister will you get me one please
Haha sorry fresh out
Early!
But not enough for first lol
You've got some funny shaped bongs on the table there.
