Looks like this game is canonically a prequel, seeing as Pauline is still a child. Maybe, in Mario Odyssey, Pauline named New Donk City after her best friend, who knows.
It always felt strange how the whole city that she’s mayor of was named and themed after her kidnapper, but him actually being her hero would make way more sense

I think Diddy and Dixie are having their own side adventure through all this and that's adorable.
I'm so glad they're here. Cranky (and RAMBI) being present but not them felt strange. I think keeping them around for side challenges is a great way to keep them around.

2 player local co-op. P2 is basically tethered to P1 and has a limited move set. No split screen. P2 can join via Switch 1 without another copy of the game. This is the ultimate. little. brother. mode.

Well at least we have cranky, dixie and diddy in the game, the challenge based off the first level of dkc 1 we saw at the first trailer of dk bananza, i think this game maybe be or a prequel showing how Pauline and DK met or this game presents the daughter of Pauline or something like that at least the game looks promising maybe this game will open to a new style of gaming for DK

After using the console for a couple weeks now, I don’t think the system is overpriced. Mario Kart is overpriced but yes, I still bought it and excited to see what it becomes with future DLC like MK8. This game was what I was looking forward to the most though and I’m so happy it looks this good.

It’s so interesting to see how Nintendo is using their newfound processing power. Most AAA games just go for advanced graphics, but Nintendo just makes all of the terrain destroyable. It’s fantastic
Exactly, it's all about the gameplay. If you take a game from 1995 and remake it with the exact same gameplay but with super detailed HD graphics, it won't be a better game, only perhaps more palatable to those who never played it before. But if you use the new hardware to do stuff that simply wasn't possible in the previous generations, then you are doing something right.
Yup they want frame rate and unique gameplay done with the hardware. Look at Splatoon and Botw. Other developers had years to come up with other things but they kept pushing out the exact same games. Mechanically speaking, there is no game made for Xbox ps5 that couldn’t be a ps3 game based on anything but graphics. The biggest influence has been dark souls and that’s pretty much it

DKC 1-3 and DK64 are all phenomenal.
I like how instead of using the Switch 2 for hyper-realistic graphics, they said "screw it, make everything in the level destroyable. Everything"
Realism isn't always necessary for a game to be good.
Now all we need is Ingot Isle as a stage in Super Smash Bros. 6 (with destructible elements, and you can get items by destroying the stage. Imagine suddenly finding an Assist Trophy or a Master Ball as you destroy the stage).

DK's popularity in Japan has gradually waned, and now he's just another member of the Mario family (Gorilla isn't that popular in Japan, and there's a gap until the new DK series).
So when DK was introduced as the finale of the Switch2 Direct, there were a lot of mixed reactions.
But this trailer is great and cinematic.
Like BoTW, I think this game will be the first DK game for many Japanese people.

Honestly, this might become more iconic than Tropical Freeze. The transformation system alone looks deeper than most DK games in years.

More iconic? Sure but I doubt it will actually top that gem of a game. Tropical Freeze is hands down, a top 5 best 2d platforming game & Mario Odyssey didn’t reach that mark for me. Bananza looks better than Odyssey but they really have to impress me for it to be better than that wonder of a game.
@@IsaacMora-l9k Tropical Freeze is just a very competent by the numbers 2D platformer. Not exciting or special. This games looks like it's on a completely different level. Actually bringing DK to the modern mainstream.
@@jed1natIt wasn’t just that it had good level design like DKCR or NSMBWii, it leveled up the design philosophy those these type of games had on top of looking gorgeous. It combined the gimmicks into singular levels & yet there was enough creativity to not just keep the levels within their own themes but to have as many levels as it did. It breathed life every step of the way, perfected the pace breakers in DKCR (minecarts & rocket barrels) went a cut above other games of its kind.
That said I agree with you, this will likely let DK hold the spotlight once more which I’m happy with. I just doubt that Nintendo will have already figured out & have perfected the design philosophy of a game where you can destroy the level itself that quickly. It will be amazing but likely won’t send my game-design-loving heart into another realm.
@@jed1natI’ve reconsidered my stance, I did consider the story of DK Bananza. It might be possible that if they ham on that, I may or may not like it more if they do an outstanding job on the story. By the by, it’s obligatory that I say the soundtrack for both DKCTF & DKB will likely be the best the series has to offer. Well, just have to see on July 17th I suppose.

It's a whole reboot or standalone multiverse. Pauline was a grown woman when Cranky kidnapped her in his youth and Mario may not have been born yet when she was kidnapped as an adult. Mario was a baby at the same time Donkey Kong was after all. And Pauline was already an adult when Mario was born.

Well if you look at the similarities between them, you can see that dk and Pauline are exactly like Ralph and vanellope, while vanellope might not sing, and Ralph isn't a brown african American monkey, at least they're different (I don't know what to say sorry guys)

Hearing pauline speak full sentences OUT LOUD is honestly amazing to me. We need this kind of speech in other nintendo games, more specifically the princesses in Mario or the captains in Pikmin.
