I'm not an Alabamian but I live here in Birmingham. You went where I wouldn't go. It's so different on that side you wouldn't believe how awesome and dope Birmingham is by looking at it's hoods...
Nothing sucks more in Alabama or the South than to hear all those bugs at 6:15. That translates to "Man it's going to be humid and hot AF today." I used to cut grass in these areas back in 2015 for foreclosed homes. Birmingham, Ensley, Wylam... Man there were some interesting characters. You start cutting the grass and hear random gunshots out in the distance. Most of the time people left you alone. Sometimes I got weird looks and some would mess with me occasionally. Glad to cut in better areas now.

I just now realized that I can tell A pretty big difference between Southern Cities & Cities in The Midwest-Northeast. In the south, it seems like the major cities Are more spread out. But in the northeast, I guess it's more Dense and the houses Are right next to each other and not spread out As much. Oh, and there is more Trees down south . and it doesn't seem as urban. more like A suburban feel or sometimes even rural. But that's just my opinion.
Birmingham claims to have more Trees in the city than anywhere in the US. I believe it. And you are correct its much more spread out with no big stacked high rises. Most of these are in housing authority apartments (ie. projects).

If you search “Downtown Ensley” you’ll see how old Birmingham used to be. (Ensley is a Birmingham neighborhood on the Westside)

He had intended to stand me up that night and I was just determined to go...so I showed up at his house right before he left. I guess he figured to hell with it and took me with him. They were friendly enough and I felt sorta comfortable inside their house but not enough to hang out like he was doing. The 2nd time was to buy meds for my dog. My best friends mother told me that her friend would sell me meds for parvo for my dog. I had my husband drive me all the way to Gate city to buy these pills. I had no idea what they really were but the dog died. A crazy white woman came out to our car and sold them to us. I had bad dreams about that trip. The looks we got from The locals weren't good & I was stupid to go down there.
On the west coast you read neighborhood areas by what's being advertised on the sign boards. Is there any way to know when you need to stay away if you don't know where you are?
You should time stamp your videos so we know where you at, although it's only a few places you can go, Porto Madrid, Ensley, Avondale, Fairfield, midfield, Bessemer, and englenook. Some folks don't know where they Goin, you could save some lives.

Most town houses and apartments are dangerous, good rule of thumb is just looking at the stores in the area. Food 4 less tends to be in the hood

They shut the Apts down a few years after those first 48 episodes, but it's still active in South Park and Lam's Convenient Store to this day.
