I've been watching multiple playthroughs for this same reason
It’s a little disappointing that he didn’t get the full cabin scare, but I have to remember that sometimes that’s the beauty of the game
He might still go back and get it properly later, before he figures out what to do (though it is tragically one of those missable things if you just don't explore Shrouded Worldlands early on...)

@@limelord3351 whenever you go to the cabin, you’re supposed to have the lantern on you and be jumpscared by the room full of owlks. Since he did it with no lantern, it wasn’t nearly as scary

I watched through all Outer Wilds streams in their entireties and loved it. Honestly possibly my favorite playthrough so far. I only finished the last vod a few days ago so it's nice that the new one's already out. Outer Wilds is one of my favorite games, heck, one of my favorite pieces of media ever created, and it was honestly somewhat life changing. Glad you're enjoying it as much as I did back then.

Keep doing this no matter how little views you get bc it’s worth it to you and the people who watch to enjoy a nice relaxing SOMETIMES suspenseful stream of getting lost and laughing at mistakes …if it weren’t for you I would not have the satisfaction of seeing the emotions that sweep over you when you finally beat the game and realize “oh shit! It WAS about the friends we made along the way” and the dlc is no different
I’m just saying that no matter how many views it gets the experience is more important sometimes

I like how the river lowlands / shrouded woodlands became the new southern observatory, and he could use them to refer to litterally any place in the stranger
While I'm sad he didn't find the 10x easier, non-stealth way to do that part of the Dream World, his suffering was entertaining :D
The game doesn’t really direct you to solving the non spooky methods; I had to seriously think because I got sick of wandering in the dark to do them myself.

@@sandbox6347 The first one you basically have to do at least some of it without stealth lol. The second and third involve either accessing them by figuring out the glitch before you see it in the reel or using smart pathing.

Once you discover that the “finish line” for the Endless Canyon was the painting in the basement… you *might* just realize that it’s literally right by the elevator towards the raft.
If you lower the elevator, blow out the lights, then exit/re-enter the dreamworld elsewhere; you can use the raft to basically skip the entirety of the Stealth section in that zone.
That will teach you about “matrix mode”, which you can then use to scout out the Starlit Cove stealth section to make it 90% less scary as well.. There is just the one antlerdude that you have to juke, but everyone else has set patterns they patrol that you can easily avoid if you could actually observe them.
And of course, the solution to the Shrouded Woodlands requires you to wait till the antlerdudes die before you explore it anyway.
I already watched this live, but I just want to pop in here to say that I've been absolutely loving your playthrough!
I'm impressed with how brave you've been in this quite scary DLC, as someone who doesn't like horror games.
It's honestly perfect that you found that specific forbidden archive first, which teaches you the walking away from your lantern, so it's easier to deal with the scaryness!

I love how nothing seems to be handwaved, not even the things most players wouldn't question (Like how these guys aren't ripped out of the "dream world" when you set off the alarm). Its such good attention to detail and it *really* makes the world feel real.
havent finished the game, but i think the reason why they arent ripped out of the dreamworld, is because their real bodies are dead, hence, they cant hear the bell

Your DLC Vod was my first intro to this channel, and I've been excitedly watching to see when you would upload the second part. Yo I'm not a consistent viewer of yours and I don't check your streams. I just occasionally watch one or two of your videos, and then mostly variety stuff. But in case you'd like a little feedback from someone like me:
In my opinion this Outer Wilds playthrough, while certainly not immediately beneficial to your channel, should be in the long run. Imo your qualities as a streamer really come through here. Smart play, quick understanding and improvement regarding the games mechanics (like in this case the ship movement) and a huge amount of enthusiasm(which I get is not something that one can conjure for every game or stream ever. And it's always better if it is not acted. But at least it's noticable here that you really enjoy the game. And that in turn let's your other qualities shine.) Another point (that's especially noticeable in your basegame playthrough) is the great atmosphere in your chat, which certainly comes in part through an understanding viewership as well as a great moderation team.
I don't wanna bloat your ego too much :P But at least this I stand by. It is a thoroughly enjoyable playthrough. The basegame as well as now the DLC. Even though I don't use twitch, I have already watched this VOD there because I couldn't wait for it. But I'm here because I felt that generating this bit of activity on the channel was the least I could do as a thank you(seeing as this game is not that profitable for you to begin with).
I feel for you streamers that often have to deal with getting bogged down in the day to day job life. All the more am I glad that you get to have this time and play something that's good for your soul as well. Hope you get more of that in the future.
And again, I could imagine that even from a business standpoint, having this playthrough on your channel could be great advertisement for you in the long run, as it shows a side of you that doesn't come through quite as clearly with other games. I absolutely love this playthrough and everything you have that has to do with Outer Wilds or Echoes of the Eye. I listen to a little bit of these throughout each day while I'm working and they make me laugh so hard it actually hurts. I'm so glad you're sharing this playthrough with us!
In the big lodge, after you turn out the lights, my favorite way to do it was to do a complex series of events where I lowered the riverside elevator, turned out the lights, then ran to another simulation entry, rode the river raft to the elevator, rode the elevator up, then just ran to the painting-doorway from there. Ignored having to make the bridge appear and any of the stuff with the Owliens prior to that. Much easier for me, lol

I quit this dlc several times for long periods of time due to not being good with scary games. Watching you have a similar experience is surprisingly cathartic. - sidenote, your outer wilds play through as a whole is my favourite one that I've watched. I've been binging this shit like it's westworld.

insane how they basically walk you thru the puzzle at 2:03:34 now, on release this was probably the hardest puzzle in the DLC and the clue given was very vague lol
yeah they updated so much shit, especially for that puzzle. i didn't find it that hard but i think it's because if you don't connect dream light = real world light you can't really get it, but they really made it a bit too easy imo
I think there was a clue that already seemed obvious to me from the beginning, and I think like you that adding SO many elements is not terrible...
In the "real" world tower there is an extinguished lamp, and it corresponds to the candle also extinguished in the dream world tower, I found that it was both quite subtle but still quite easily spotted. In any case, that's what gave me the key to personal understanding.

This dlc was so good, the stealth mechanics, and using the fact that you need to do things JUST to learn new mechanics which you learn you could have done the whole time, all of it works perfectly in an already nearly perfect game. I want to see them make more things

My absolute favourite thing about this playthrough is that every now and then, Eric will ask a "yes or no" question to chat to know how scary it is or if he's overthinking something, and EVERY SINGLE TIME the answers are mixed between "yes", "no", "kind of" and "yes and no"
