And it takes you longer because you make a couple typos and realize you're out of white out so start over. rinse and repeat . Then admit defeat and look up the hours to the closest library...(based solely on my luck only , ymmv.) ;)
As someone growing up in the digital age, this typewriter is so strange, it’s like a cross between the old world of typing but it has electronic return and beeps at you and looks very smooth.... just a bizarre inception of technology, old and new worlds colliding...
This reminds me of a workshop I used to have back in secondary school here in Mexico. My parents bought me an electric typewriter to do homework, which basically was making copies of the textbook. It was extremely boring for me, typing adsf ñklj adsf ñklj over and over again. But somehow, I learned and now i type those exercises to relax. Who would have thought? Not my teacher, of course.
I've tried to watch this five times now, and I keep falling asleep around halfway through it. lol thanks for uploading both videos you did. They both give me intense tingles.
lol I love the sound of the typing, it's a very strange but wonderful sound to my ears and for some reason lulls me to sleep. To each their own, though :)
I think you inspired me to to plan to make a video of myself typing on my laptop of documents or my mechanical typewriter for maybe 20 minutes just so people could watch me do work, if they are interested in watching people type. i like your beige typewriter tho.
I have a mechanical typewriter that is beige from 1976 and I have a Sharp electronic typewriter from the 1990s which is black. I wish to have a beige one but I might take it apart and paint it beige anyway.
I think this one was white but after time those things get a yellow tint and become beige... Some RETRO BRIGHT would fix this and make it look like brand new...
Well ....back in the day if you asked for a electronic typewriter you would have gotten some funny looks. They were called electric typewriters by all pretty much. The semantics similar enough to use interchangeably... I suppose :)
I have an electronic typewriter (not Smith Corona) which I bought in '91. I also have a Smith Corona electric (Electra Automatic) which I bought in 1980. The main difference was in the way they operate. The electric ones weren't programmable and didn't have any memory; most of them, like mine, still had bars which hit the paper to print. The electronic ones were either daisy wheel or golf ball and had some memory. The ribbons of the electronics were in cartridges rather than spools, and could only be used once.
muskndusk not sure if it matters so much but Smith Corona themselves call it the Mark V electric typewriter..this machines circuits have no decision making function or capability which makes it electric.
when you’re too broke for a printer and the assignment is due in an hour:

Actually, a printer is cheaper than a typewriter...

Old enough to be retro but not old enough to be collectible/cool yet.
@@JustSujC Tell that to Tom Hanks.
Misery is finally finished!

So the repetitive sound of loud banging noises puts you to sleep? Interesting...I'd use it as my alarm clock.
Ahh...the beauty of individual tastes ---is what I am sure what you intended to convey ;)
And how those tastes change...Suddenly, I'm more acclimated to this video now :p

i love the "clickety-click" of these electronic daisy-wheel typewriters!
This is the sound I was looking for. Thanks.
“Smith Corona”
That aged well
That was the main brand in those days for home and student use.

The good old days :-D
Very cool! I love typewriters!

It was white but with some time that gets beige/yellow tint... With some retro bright it would be white like brand new!
this typewriter is so COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the typewriters
This is excellent. I used to repair typewriters back in my younger days.
This gives me ‘Misery by Stephen King’ flashbacks 😂
Omg I actually love you so much!
There is a backspace button...
Maybe there is no correction tape in it... Oh and backspace just moved the printer back... you need to use the erase key

how can you backspace on a typewriter if it prints ink onto the paper?
Erasing and back spacing are two different things. You put some white out on the mistake , let it dry , backspace, and then retype a new character. :)
@@TracyZasmr wow what a work
mythical they had typewriter tapes with white correction strips that let you backup and type over your mistake.
How do I make it ready to type. When I press keys it won’t type
You can find anything on RUclips!
I need one of those
the world before high technology is the world of Madame X
Corona you say
No backspace
Make a typewriter talking to the type and write it for you is is possible
cool
Corona-
This is an electronic not an electric typewriter.

Smith corona doesn't have any electronic models ...only electric ...alas
