Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I must’ve dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They’re moving into the street
Now, did you read the news today?
They say the danger’s gone away
But I can see the fire’s still alight
There, burning into the night
[Pre-Chorus]
There’s too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And there’s not much love to go ‘round
Can’t you see
This is a land of confusion?
[Chorus]
This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them, and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth living in
[Verse 2]
Ooh, Superman, where are you now?
When everything’s gone wrong somehow
The men of steel, the men of power
Are losing control by the hour
[Pre-Chorus]
This is the time
This is the place
So, we look for the future
But there’s not much love to go ‘round
Tell me why this is a land of confusion
[Chorus]
This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth living in
[Bridge]
I remember long ago
Ooh, when the sun was shining
And all the stars were bright
All through the night
In the wake of this madness
As I held you tight
So long ago
[Verse 3]
I won’t be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We’re not just making promises
That we know we’ll never keep
[Pre-Chorus]
Too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go ‘round
Can’t you see
This is a land of confusion?
[Chorus]
Now, this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them, and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for
This is the world we live in
And these are the names we’re given
Stand up and let’s start showing
Just where our lives are going to

Anyone Still Playing This Masterpiece In 2024?.
I'm a Disturbed One. I play this all the time....LOUD❤🤘
I'm here, and I'm a little impressed at the animation. I could almost swear this was from a movie or TV show, but if this was animated specifically for this video, then that's very good
Yes
of course, it's the song of my childhood
100%
People seem to be missing one key point of this song. It's about people putting aside their differences and uniting against those that are using people's fear, anger and hatred to control us and keep us divided.
Basically the Media is what you're telling me right
@@DarthVader-sp8fe them(both sides of the political spectrum) and the people pulling their strings. Which is why their song "The Vengeful One" is always a good one to listen to after this one
@@jasonoverman9679 Exactly my guy, and yet people use this song to push a political agenda ironically enough, because they can twist the interpretation of it.
You mean like what the US government is doing?
Well the fat corporate boss is a good metaphor for Jeffrey Epstein and his associates. They've been buying out governments for 25+ years. If anyone deserves to get Robin Hooded, it's them.
Phil Collins deserves respect that many of his songs have been sung and recorded by other bands and artists. It proves, that he sung songs with lyrics of quality.
Mike Rutherford wrote the lyrics to this one. Love Phil Collins, but credit where it's due.
so right, credit is cred, but we still understand the point of the whole....good catch...😊
The more divided we are, the easier it is to control all of us.
and for Stalins to rise. History!? Why do we learn half the lesson.
@@cudwieser3952 Now we have people trying to forbid us from learning any of the lessons with all the revisionist history and presentism we see today.
Can you please tell me how many times do I have to write "STOP" until we finally shut down the AI? If so then write the word "STOP" as many times as your answer is, please!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@cudwieser3952 what does Stalin have to do with all this? There is no hate! Hate is only the absence of love. Hate is only the absence of God. God is love. Fear is what troubles us. If you are afraid or troubled. Let Jesus guide you through the storm 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
"life is a mystery, everyone MUST STAND ALONE"
-Madonna, Like a Prayer.
Song about Lucyfer.
Yes. United we stand, divided we fall.
Fact: The older this song gets, the more relevant it is
Edit: Revisiting this 2 years later as yet another war starts
It has always been relevant. Problems don't get worse, they simply exist and won't go away until people learn how to behave themselves and absolve their selfish nature. Unfortunately, we humans are only good at fucking everything up.
That is a frightening truth.
Cause they know whats the Agenda... A NEw WORD ORDER.
OFC.
2020 this is the song people should take notice
I have a feeling this is what'll happen within the 4 years that the "president elect" is in office.
The fucking terrifying part is there's like no country on earth where this isn't relevant.
+VladiMatt Yeah, and I thought we were doomed during the Reagan era
Finland
+Phantom Runners but still too many people making too many problems here in Ireland
+VladiMatt
But it isn't relevant. This song is about the hysteria during the Cold War.
Generally speaking things right now are better than they have ever been, the world is improving each second..
..so far.
+Tyrone “Dynamite” Kingston you are kidding, right? this world is going to shit every second
People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.
Exactly
They fear us like no other entity. This is why they spare no expense toward keeping us powerless.
Quote from v(v for vendetta)
For this reason, to the people "panem et circenses", once you have given that to the people, then they become your obedient and faithful lapdog. All rulers who want to control the people do it. The forms of government (empire, kingdom, democracy, etc.) are completely indifferent.

I like how your version of the song gives more of a darker meaning to the lyrics. Phil’s version is almost dreamlike, hopeful that we can change. This version feels gritty, raw, like we’re clinging to the last hope. I love it
❤🔥
Kinda because we are clinging to the last hope...
Last Hope is on the horizon
You couldn't said any better, that's the best way of interpreting both songs. There's a mixture of both versions here on RUclips, the mix of Disturbed's agressive and gritty sound and Genesis' dramatic, optimistic and hopeful style blend together perfectly and almost give the song and heroic feeling, like this time things will put be right, like change really is on our hands.
All disturbed did was hit straight to the point. When Phil Collins made this, the Cold War was a scare to everybody. Everyone back then looked up to people like Superman and this song. In the end, they made things a bit happier on another shity day in the Cold War. People seek happiness over truth.
This is the world we live in now for real.
Anyone else think the bands mascot should get his own animated series

Should be a star of David.
Austin Blackburn
War for profit is a facet of corporate capitalism.
Also since such capitalism is the dominant ideology at this time, pointing out that it’s hypocritical to criticize the system you’re obliged to participate in is useless. It doesn’t invalidate the criticism, either.
To your point...I’m pretty sure this fits in with their whole “music as a weapon” vibe.
@@alexarvanitis4331 I'd have to disagree about war for profit and capitalism being the same. Maybe I could agree crony capitalism however that would only apply to companies that get bail outs and special contracts by the government. Also war for profit only benefits a very small number of businesses and hurts the rest to say large corporations like Google are actually making any large profit off war is dishonest. Most companies have very little power to force you to do anything so capitalism is just the natural result of letting people buy and sell whatever they want for a price both parties can agree upon. It only becomes bad if the government allows and works with companies to have more power than they are supposed to have removing what was supposed to be an even playing field which is crony capitalism. If large corporations had the type of power you suggest why would Walmart ever let Amazon sell anything more than books. Their have been a few cases of crony capitalism such as corn subsidies, bank bail outs, and bail outs of wall Street but all of these actually bad parts of capitalism are a result of the government also known as crony capitalism. Also if this was truly a criticism of the 1% and capitalism the lead singer is worth over 10 million well into the 1% and even though he is in a capitalist society he still could give away over 90% of his wealth to those less fortunate and still live a life far more extravagant than most.

"Now, did you reed the news today? They say the Sanders gone away" (Covid-19 cases going down and police brutality not being that bad)

Not true at all. My dad was making about 70k/year during that time and loved Reagan...the country was in a much much much better place than it is now.
For people who somehow missed the symbolism; the point of the flags is that ANYBODY can commit atrocities, especially when motivated by greed.
Am I the Only One that Wants a Disturbed TV series, with This type of Animation?
Someday, my generation is gonna have to fight that fight. We truly do live in a land of confusion.
Feels like a 2016 prediction.
+Zaphael I think the track "Deify" of the same album fits into the 2016 political race pretty well also.
+Zaphael If he only knew then. The war has raged for 9 days. 9 days of hell. Because war... war never changes.
+That One Guy zomfg a mr. mysterious with a mysterious line, why so serious? :)
anyways, im tired of hearing that stupid retarded and outdated line
war changes and so does people, what doesnt changes is life itself
+xGoodOldSmurfehx Its joke m8. Like a war started right at the beginning of 2016
That One Guy
no no no, i was debating the popular and way overrated saying "war never changes" :)
Nowadays, the message in this song needs to be understood way more than ever..
The song is originally from 1986, now think how timeless it really is...
Why because Trump? Cry me a river.
Cyborg Noodle wrong comment . shadilay
Cyborg Noodle
No, it's because of this fucked up government we have. Trump is just another ignorant puppet. Things have been going down hill way before Trump came in to picture, so I don't even know why you're bringing him up..
It's the elite working against the people and not for the people.
true as fuck
Michael:🎶they don't care about us🎶
Disturbed:🎶the land of confusion 🎶
Me:🎶they don't care about this land of confusion 🎶
Somehow becoming more on-topic with each passing year. Damn.
It was "on topic" since before your parents were born.
@@RIDDICK0911 I specifically meant the song, but I get it. And I agree.
"Land Of Confusion"
[Originally by Genesis]
I must have dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street
Now, did you read the news today?
They say the danger has gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
They're burning into the night
There's too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And there's not much love to go around
Can't you see this is a land of confusion?
This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in
Oh, superman, where are you now?
When everything's gone wrong somehow?
The men of steel, these men of power
Are losing control by the hour
This is the time, this is the place
So we look for the future
But there's not much love to go around
Tell me why this is a land of confusion
This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in
I remember long ago
When the sun was shining
And all the stars were bright all through the night
In the wake of this madness, as I held you tight
So long ago
I won't be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We're not just making promises
That we know we'll never keep
There's too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And there's not much love to go round
Can't you see this is a land of confusion?
Now, this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for
This is the world we live in
And these are the names we're given
Stand up and let's start showing
Just where our lives are going to
Good to see another ninja on internet...They usually hide in the shadows...

Maybe someone, randomly browsing the internet 408819 years from now, ends up right here.
what questions would that person in the future have, what would he think?
+Desiree Callahan 🤘👍
Looking at the world today, I'm pretty sure that this song and video was actually intended to be a prediction, but we need to stop waiting for "The Guy" to come and rescue us or rally us, instead, we need to BECOME "The Guy" he is a force within all of us, we need to restore the world to it's former glory, from when currency was not the key to happiness. "Too many men. Too many people. And there's not much love to go around" this is the problem we need to fix, restore the balance, remove the corporations, equalize the world!
Shaddup ya silly
The Redstoner I totaly agree
The Redstoner They already tried "removing the corporations" in Soviet Russia. It didn't end well for masses.
The Redstoner "The Guy" has represented the 99%
Our brothers and sister need to know, you are the protagonist of your own story, but that doesn't mean you aren't the side character of someone else's.
So be a hero, be the helper. Don't take the glory, spare it around.
I'm more of a green lantern fan, but i do believe that we all deserve a modern day messianic figure, an alien god like protector, a superman.
MUCKING MAN…DONT MUCK WITH…GOD…TRUST NOT YOUR OWN THOUGHTS TRUST LOVE GOD IS LOVE…OUR MOST GRACIOUS ALMIGHTY LORD JESUS🌱✝️🌹🌤️✨♾✨
I'm glad Disturbed stayed true to the song. And this song is FIRE! So much truth behind this song, it's insane!
First time I heard it I was like "wait what?" But it is an awesome cover and has aged well the last almost 20 years
@@andrioushildebrand3984 How is it awesome? Because it's got muh power cords? If anything it's lazy.
This song is pretty wicked
They fucked up the anime tho.
EDIT: and I say that lightly, hands were metaphorical in the original.
--meant live your life, don't listen to fucks like you, who fucking troll the nowadays internet, and don't know what they saying.
Kim Kimpa it’s a song that sounds good. Anybody listening to your music?
this song makes much more sense as time goes on, doesn't it?
Really is amazing that it is 7 years old isn't. It represents what is happening all over the world right now so well.
Zanzopan, you do know this song was originally written in 1986 right? So it's a lot older than 7 years.
benjlouw699 MDS Exactamundo!
lindsay carey it sure does
Well, a badass deus ex alien involving "the guy" hasn't happened yet so...
"My Generation will put it right" That didn't age well
As a newly declared independant, I approve this message.
"When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty". - unknown.
Tyranny is here now, CV-19 is it's engine.
@@damiangreco3060 there are still some places where there is no tyranny and law and constitution still works
@@filippetrula1234 those places all been destroyed for freedom
Like myanmmar
@@damiangreco3060 yep and they do their level best to silence its critics.
For those of you that don't know this is originally a Phil Collins song. Disturb covered it beautifully
Actually, it's a Genesis song.
@@MrGary33333 and it‘s a great song. The Genesis video is amazing, too!
Genesis to be exact. Great song and cover.
@@jacoblavoie8326 as I stated one week ago.
There's literally not that much difference between Genesis and Disturbs!
2024 and know it is time that this Song came True✊️
Fight for freedom👍👍👍👍
This song makes more sense now in 2024. Nuff said
This version goes so crazy. I love both. But this one is just next level
Land of confusión with steroids hahaha
The animation is also poppin
This fits Disturbed style better than sound of silence imo.
@@Space.Ghost. yes it does
@@Space.Ghost. It does, but their cover of Sound of Silence was rather brilliant IMO.
What a plot twist. Never expected the Monopoly guy to let himself go and become a super villain.
Finaly someone undrstands it.
XD
Its the bourgeois = the capitalists = the corporate elite.
Mr Monopoly was always a villain if you think about it.
Never liked that game anyway. Too boring.
I'm totally agree with Disturbed mainly that power can become a weapon easily more powerful than Atomic Bombs, tanks, planes, soldiers, guns, and/or any weapons of war, and can be so easily abusable than anything that kill.
2024 n this dude was a prophet w this song
Who’s here in 2021 realizing that this is the ugly truth.
You sir are exactly right.
I am, it's worse than even song depicts!
I'm raising my hand
sometimes i think that disturbed songs are a prophecies that will come to live
Raise Your Fists!!!! ✊
This should honestly be a tv show/animated series
@@onlyNtimE what the hell are you talking about?
Genesis and Disturbed team up like superhero teams
We already have Captain Planet
For me is this what europe needs! In a great song.
I like how this video holds all the nations of the world responsible.
Apart from Israel. Cant criticise them or David will cry.
If you're still listening to this in 2021, you're awesome and I love you.

Year by year I will always listen to this! Love your way too!
Blyat
It's great to see something positive being said
Thanke
I like how the disturbed mascot looks evil but ends up saving the world every time
Anakin Skywalker even the good exists inside the darkness. Even though he embraced the dark, he kept the good inside and true to him to save us all
pretty much that’s the point. Their name IS disturbed so they’re basically trying to represent the part of the population that the masses label as “disturbed” like they’re empowering the “weak”
I like how greed is the villan
I like how the monopoly guy is greed....
Anakin Skywalker like american republicans
Another war started today, I always come back to this song when it happens, which has become often nowadays unfortunately. This world is hell.
This song is more powerful now
2006 : Man, this song relevant...
2019 : God Damn IT! THIS SONG IS REALLY! MORE TRUE AND RELEVANT THESE DAYS!
Sadly but so damn true 😐
At this time, it is relevant as ever, especially in Russia)
It's frustrating that we think it can't possibly get worse, then a few years pass and we're like hot damn I can't believe it's gotten EVEN MORE relevant like where does it end??
2022 would be more real :)
it will be relevant as long as capitalism rules the world
I love how disturbed doesn't mess with the originals. They just take the song to the next level
I grew up loving the Genesis version. Moment I heard Disturbed was covering it I knew they would do it justice. I love both versions equally
@@Caltops78 Same here!
yea i love both for different reasons. i think the genesis one kinda give the meaning more then disterbed. but disterbed has so much more feeling and pump up to go fight back then genesis
They did a hell of a job with The Sound of Silence too. They give the songs a new impact.
Yep they know not to mess with the original song too much so you can still easily hear the original song underneath the Disturbed "coating"
I like how they got their own anime and stuff
Nah but fr the song is accurate asl
After seeing what happened between Israel & Gaza. Its only gonna get worse. Everywhere! And sings like these will hold more meaning than any politicians arguments.
This song was as relevant when Genesis made it in 1986 as it was when Disturbed covered it in 2009.
Unfortunately, it's not only relevant in 2020, it's a fulfilled prophecy.
It's been relevant since the start of time
So confused
This album came out in 2005 m'dud
I hope so.
Because it means we can win.
