There definitely was an episode of Longmire where a barn burns down, and I believe a horse survives the fire with severe burns. Great episode and show. I'm gonna have to get into this book series at some point.

Dark Horse originates from the early seasons of American Idol where the one in like 6th or 9th place would prove to be a "dark horse" and thus win the whole thing, wiping out those who were thought to be in 1st or 2nd place.
