It was $900 retail back in 1980. I still have mine. The glass & x'stal ferrite head is guaranteed for 150,000 hours of continuous play. That's 17 1/2 years. Of course the motor went out long before then, so... :-P
Good memories. Thanks for the video.

I have this one. Player has very little power to keep the tape moving. Pulleys spin..motor seems strong. Pressing play then it stops by itself...same for rewind and fast foward. Any suggestions?

I have the same deck, the first couple of minutes, the sound is fine, after 5-8 min of listening, the tape seem to be started to slower, don't know what's the problem?, ff and rewind have no issues.

That is one nice cassette deck! I might listen to cassettes if I had something like that!

Joshua's Recordings it was in bad shape when i got it. pinch rollers rotted out. bad springs etc. i just now have the tape tracking just right. sounds as good as a high end record player.

    Dear Karma,
I have an AKAI GX-95 deck that has been well-cared for and is in pretty good shape. I need a good tech to bring her back to high fidelity and beautiful sonic shpe. The deck is in pristine condition and alll the lights and mess seem to be good but of course it need TLC and the door doesn't want to to receive the cassette... please let me know what can be done to get me running well again. Willing to send it wherever you are and pay for the chance to regain fidelity- many thanks for the help, and Peace Jimi Paradee
