Much needed update on Wicks. He's definitely a keeper in my book. Like many Cubs farm pitchers, he too, has the injury bug but has great temperment to be a #4. Liked your insight as usual.
Our Cubbies are only 3 games out of a wildcard spot. Unfortunately, they have nine games this month with the Phillies, Yankees, and Dodgers. If they capture a playoff spot, they will have earned it the hard way.
I agree Jordan is not really like Shota, doesnt have a splitter to play off the high fastball the same way. I think a good comp for Wicks is the other Jordan.....Montgomery that is. Same velocity, same repertoire of other pitches, similar delivery and arm slot/angle. Obviously I mean Rangerrs or Cardinals version of Montgomery not the DBacks version.
I think they can start a playoff push here, but it’s not that I need to see more from the Cubs. It’s that I need to see less from the Braves.😂 also we have to play good against winning teams. We play the Yankees and the Dodgers soon if we can win at least one of those series and come out with a positive record from those two series then I will say full-blown let’s go playoff push.
It's nice to see them playing well the last couple weeks but I still don't see them making the playoffs. Got another Pirates series with Jones and Skenes then they play 6 straight vs Yankees and Dodgers. Maybe they prove me wrong but I truly think the hole was dug too deep in May/June and not climbing out of it until now is too little too late. Worst fear is Hoyer uses this stretch as a reason to bring the same lineup into 2025 though. End up getting a defensive first back up catcher , backend starter, and more reclamation type relievers and we'll be in the same situation a year from now.

Wicks look good today and it comes at a perfect time, we definitely need this
I’ve always liked Wicks stuff. Great info.
I'm with you, the Cubs need to get to 3 back for me to feel like they're in the race. I like the Braves, but they need to lose tonight!
Luckily they did in a crazy game that went to 11 innings I watched it

@@landenroberts6710 slim and none are the two chances of that happening. Do you listen to Matt and Sam????.?.
@@musicmanharp4467 ok and? This is my favorite team crazy enough I’m gonna root for them🤣
The dbacks of last year
Hopefully the Cubs of this year
I sure hope the Cubs are saving Imanaga for Friday and Wicks for Sunday against the NYY, who haven't fared that well this year against lefties.
Phillies beat atlanta
