    More often than not, the section that the donut slides over would be badly pitted from corrosion. In many forums people recommend Ultra-Copper RTV. Though it is labeled as being oxygen-sensor safe, I'm wondering if a safer and more reliable solution would be to filling out the pitting with high temperature steel-epoxy then sanding it down. Some swear by Versachem Crack Sealer, which is ceramic based, for this task.

      It was a stupid video, they didn't even show how to fit the gasket on or how pipes fit together, PLUS, no washers, bolts too short, no anti-seize compound, NOT suppose to use silicone on exhaust connections because it destroys O2 sensors and to top it off he uses Hardware Hank cheap junk hardware that will break in two weeks.

    • @christopherpeterson5246
      @christopherpeterson5246 6 лет назад +5

      The silicone is down stream from the 02...the way the exhaust flows, it shouldn't bother it

    • @icur
      @icur 6 лет назад +3

      In many exhaust systems the flex Donut gasket connection is BEFORE the catalytic converter, making it BEFORE the downstream 02 sensor, so you can definitely damage your 02 sensor if you glob the silicone right before the sensor.

    I discovered my squeaking noise coming from underneath is at this point. Sprayed some silicone grease on it and it went away. But returned days later since the heat from the exhaust pipe would dry that up of course.
    I've checked and the bolts are as tight as you can get them.
