Damn.. I've watched a hell of a lot of Shakey Graves performances both in studios and not and this has got to be up near the top of the list! The interviewer clearly had done his homework on Shakey and gave some real insight into what he's been up to. Excellent video The Bridge!!!
Shakedog!?! Friggin luv ur music man! Been following your rise to infamy for abo 2 years now. Thank you. I'm better off for having your list o tunes on-tap.
First found this guy half way through an acid trip and I had to do my best attempt at a reality check on this video because between his performance and the camera panning I thought it was CGI and Shakey Graves didn't even exist because how could he be so good?
Amazing version of unlucky skin !! I love ( and sometimes hate ) how Everytime you hear him playing song, depending on where he played it, you hear It different
This is probably one of my top three, if not my most favourite, in studio live session from Shakey. I love the styles of the songs in this performance compared to other ones. Also, the interviewer ACTUALLY knew what he was talking about / asking. Good job with this. I'm saving this to repeat watch.
Its our favorite too, but we're quite biased. Also on the list: Shakey and Esme Patterson performing Dearly Departed at the Pandora House at SXSW. Such a good live performer!
I live in Austin, so I'm a little biased myself... and watching him grow and change throughout the years has been a blast. That said, I still stand by my statement that this is one of the best interviews with him on RUclips that I've seen. I can't believe I hadn't seen it until yesterday.
I just recorded some of his newer songs (one of them was in this recording - Climb on the Cross) on my actual RUclips account (ohmylauren). It was wild to come across this interview and see the song in acoustic form before it became what it is today.
Well better late than never! Thanks for watching. With his new album and hearing Climb on the Cross on it, it is so much different. Cool to see artists adapt and grow even in individual songs. Reminds me of Andrew Bird and how a song is never done in his eyes.
Hearing this song in 2020 and listening to the early versions of Climb on the Cross is this weird experience because you recognize the words but it diverts off the released song and them falls back inline
Fantastic. I notice that after the samsonite appears a cable and not a micro. Could someone tell me the way the signal is captured from the suitcase? Thank you.
"Everyone always said if I made a funny face it would stay so you better get hip and take a liking to me looking this way" That has to be some of the saddest lyrics ever
every time I hear a new live version of Unlucky Skin I feel so blessed
tlsgurl Word... I'd love to hear a rendition of Leonard Cohen/Jeff Buckley "Hallelujah" from this man 😇
what a great idea, i would love that
I feel ya
Skakey and his guitar and his suitcase drum is all I ever need. So awesome.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks Andrew! That's big, because Shakey has given some amazing in-studios! We're blushing.
Agreed. Nobody does live like Shakey Graves, and this was phenomenal!!! Props to the artist and the host!
@@909thebridge Definitely an excellent, well informed interview.
Holy shit every interview I watch with him just makes me like him more every time
you really like to use "holy shit" in your comments, lol
Man...first time I've seen this and now I'm a Jon Hart fan too! Shakey kills it, as usual. Love his style.
Welcome to the Jon Hart fan club

A couple of old classics never released and a new song? This is a gem of a session, loved this, 909 in studio rules!!
Love shakey's new d'angelico as well
Unlucky Skin and Chinatown have both been released. Unlucky Skin is on Roll the Bones and Chinatown is on Donor Blues. Still a good show nonetheless.
Just kidding Chinatown isn't on Donor Blues XD
Chinatown is on Story of My Life, which is considered one of his secret albums. it was released in 2013
Matt Della Penna Was that another SG Day release?
This version of Unlucky Skin is simply incredible, such an inspiring sound! Jamming alongside takes me to another place everytime!
MMMHMM! Love artists that make us feel this way. David Ramirez is another artist that has the same effect.
Shakedog!?!
Friggin luv ur music man! Been following your rise to infamy for abo 2 years now. Thank you. I'm better off for having your list o tunes on-tap.
I have to say, I much prefer the continuous panning camera view over the typical cuts from fingers to face.
Thanks for watching Philip!

Maybe it was CGI and maybe it was all a dream. We will never know.
Alejandro Nicolez honestly the best way to discover him
The new song! SO GOOD
Wow. That was really beautiful. Thanks for the wonderful video.
Thanks for watching, we're glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing version of unlucky skin !! I love ( and sometimes hate ) how Everytime you hear him playing song, depending on where he played it, you hear It different

Who’s Elliot Smith??
@@michaelrobles3580 you could look him up on youtube?
@@Ladylothlorian Just thought I would ask Fan to see why they like him
I love the Leonard Cohen reference: "minor fall // major lift"
True, and resonating even stronger with his story about Jeff Buckley.
That is a common phrase in music...nothing special to Leonard Cohen
Fantastic. I notice that after the samsonite appears a cable and not a micro. Could someone tell me the way the signal is captured from the suitcase? Thank you.
David baigorri serrano he's said there's a drum mic in there but I dunno how he gets the tambourine unless the other one somehow picked it up
Music starts at 07:20

The intro to Chinatown sound so much like Elliot Smith's guitar playing (:

Ye ya
"Everyone always said if I made a funny face it would stay so you better get hip and take a liking to me looking this way" That has to be some of the saddest lyrics ever
Is this guy Brian Possehn's tamer brother or something
Hello to the truth. Fame is evil and celebrity is some religion. I just wanna be as it is
Hey Shakey! Need a bass player Jared Leto?
The dude interviewing Shakey should be fired.
Full session. 3 songs in 45 mins. Disappointing
bass drum is too loud
What?
DUKE SILVER!!!!!!
This hosts talks way too much.
I would of talked to him that much too.
