I agree. Like put heavy duty suspension, a really high performance radiator, smaller but super durable engine, bumper bars and remove as much weight as possible
Someone just needs to build a nigh indestructible vehicle specific for this challenge. Caged in tires, full roll cage, heavy duty suspension with thick tires, but light to save on impact damage. Just enough power for a bit of oversteer and easily hitting 60 for Shafted.
And in this episode, we will focus on the essential bits of driving. Fancy things like "Seats" "Bodywork" and other luxuries, like a windshield simply add weight, after all.
Alex: "That is my favorite run we've ever had." I agree whole hardheartedly. I'd be perfectly happy if you were to declare the the Fire Marshall to be the winner purely on style points alone, and distance be damned.
Imagine calling the fire brigade for a small bonfire gone wrong, and a metal frame with wheels pulls in, fuel tank exposed, engine openly running, and the differential free for the world to observe. The firemen awkwardly run towards the fire, which has since burnt out.
The reason that Roamer fixed its own rear suspension is cause it was slightly incorrectly configured by the makers. They use invisible "limiter" beams from the bodywork nodes to the centers of the wheels, so the wheels can't go into the bodywork. But if they're not perfectly set up, when a vehicle lands hard enough, those same limiters actually stop the wheels from drooping... Until you bend the bodywork with a spinner, and they pop back out. The left side was unpopped sooner than the right one.
I like how he only realised that the Roamer fixed itself after a whole lap. It fixed it when it went throught the spinners, it pulled the bodywork off the wheels, freeing them.
they say that you should always pull over to let emergency traffic through. If I saw that Fire van behind me, I'd launch myself into a different post code. lol
That radiator should've gone/engine should've started to overheat after the whole thing came off if not before, not sure why the game hasn't registered that..kinda weird, maybe a bug or something, or when the radiator did fall off the vehicle it didn't puncture and was still registered as part of the vehicle?
You can take off the whole radiator support on the D-series and roamer without puncturing it because the game doesn't simulate when you break the radiator hose so yes, realistically it should of overheated.
These poor cars look like they tried to stop a street race between the Dukes of Hazzard, the Blues Brothers, and the Bandit! ... Actually, that sounds highly entertaining. Does anyone have a red Pinto?!
I don't think it would have made any difference. With an open diff the power is always going to take the easiest route, so that would be out of the side of the diff that no longer has anything to drive due to that half shaft having snapped when the suspension on the right finally gave up and totally failed. That's why you get the one tyre fire in vehicles with open diffs, the power will always take the easiest route, which is through the unloaded tyre...
@@trafficcones1485 It was very much acting like an open diff, and you don't often get limited slip diffs in 4-wheel drive vehicles as you can often create the same effect through the drive options available...
My theory is it never lost suspension. What happened was the wheels got caught in the body, or something was crash welded. Even when taking jumps the suspension never came down, it acted like the suspension was welded, not just broken. So eventually when the body got knocked free by the spinner it uncrash welded it, freeing the suspension back up
@@Droptima15 I think you've got it exactly right there. It looks like this vehicle was running leaf spring rear suspension like the pickups do, and one of the landings from a jump effectively shoved the axle forward on the leaf springs so the wheels got jammed up under the wheel arches. When the body started to come away from the chassis then it was no longer able to hold the wheels up in the full suspension compression position. I think the springs that Alex was seeing coming out from under the rear of the vehicle were helper coil springs. A lot of US manufacturers used those on full size SUVs to avoid having to go to the expense of having special springs that were unique to that model made, so they could run existing springs from a heavier truck version of a related vehicle. It sounds strange, but it's not unusual...
@FailRace you should try the beam mp mod it is now very good and recommend it as long as players don’t respawn it’s not laggy. But the players games freezes for a second to keep synced up.
i cant believe you didnt notice the rear suspension unpinged the left side over Shafted which lasted half a lap, long enough for the front right to get bent, then over Dover it unpinged the rear right and then a lap later you noticed.
This might just be me, but I've downloaded this map, all textures are working perfectly but whenever I leave the map my BeamNG crashes, is this a thing for anyone else, also great video! as always, keep up the good work everyone.
"So how many seats does your car have?"
"Well, its a funny story that..."
a zero-door convertible you say?
After 7 great years of service, The FailRace Fire Department has decided to give unit No.40 a spectacular finish to its life.
Now that was a spectacular show.
Roamer...
Loses entire body, other than the front panel...
"'Tis but a scratch..."
Gavril Built Tough.
I think the body distance needs to be separate from the chassis distance 😂
You should try and make a custom configuration of a car that you think will do best around the track

Absolutely hilarious losing the body!
Really hoping for a new time trial series in Beam now that the handling model is better.
I have been WAITING for this to happen for the entire series.

What a beast of a truck

*Firemen:* sorry, we got lost. Did a few laps of the proving grounds
This video proves that this is the BEST racing channel on YT! Awesome good fun, thanks FailRace!
The fire van run was so long it had entire freaking story arcs.
The fire truck rover fixed its rear suspension as it was stuck under the body work and when the spinners ripped up the body work it unpinned it
*Roamer not rover
@@jwalster9412 thank you for the correction

Definitely one of the most glorious performances in any of the destruction series, simply glorious :)

I find that the rear suspension always gets stuck on the Roamer, you can use the node grabber to free it back to normal.
(16:05) - It looks like he's driving a corrupted texture with wheels.
The remnants of the hood is even clipping through the engine block. *XD*
You should give a mail vehicle a go if there’s an appropriate mod. Like the LLV mail truck or something like that
The Roamer was brilliant. That was Regency levels of awesome, if not more.
Brilliant. My 2nd favourite run ever, only loosing to the rear steer Pesima with the flappy wheels at the baja circuit.
Double Platinum Level of Destruction. Just Perfect.
Best episode of DTD EVER!
Nice Carolina Squat you got there 👍😂 10:57
The car at 17:48 be like: if it aint broke, don't fix it.
Pulls into body shop, "can you give me a quick estimate? I had a wee fender bender."
That Roamer became a self-propelled wreck.
LOL That Roamer made more miles with a broken suspension than all the cars behind it from full health till destruction.
The second vehicle has what we call the Carolina squat
Roamer “ejecto seato cuz!”
*body yeets itself off
Im baffled how in the end theres literally no radiator to be seen infront of the Roamers engine, yet it somehow still gets cooled 🤔
We need the dove to run this circuit
If that's the Reliant Robin style 3 wheeler it's already been round.
Edit: Nah, it's the pigeon I'm thinking of, episode 13.
@@omnomshibob its basically a pigeon with 4 wheels

24:06 I er... well the body of my car lifted up and now its just the chassis I've got left
Okay, just got to 24:20 and had to pause because I'm laughing so hard at the *literal body falling off the truck*. Loving your work there Alex :-D
'exaust damaged'
"This doesn't really cause any major problems"
My head phones: *VVVVIIIIIIIIRRRR VVER VVVVVVVVVIIIIIIIIR VVVVIIIIRRR*
The award for the worlds strongest front bumper goes to the roamer
That "prop drop" jump has claimed quite a few prop shafts.
Truck was doing the Carolina Squat
The best episode so far!
Whoever made that radiator was probably a descendant of the person that made the Nokia.
Congratulations to the Roamer... Well, its chassis, anyway.
I think the spinners actually got the rear suspension loose again on the Fire Marshal truck
Magic repair spinners!
have we had a tractor here yet? I doubt it would be able to make shafted jump but I reckon it would be quite funny to see
Are there any tractor mods worth downloading? I haven't seen one.
Yes I'll link one
It would be super cool if Alex was hosting Top Gear
Best part of the week!

Built Gavril tough.
The Roamer probably hit hard enough that it bent the Springs all the way into an inverted position

4k and 1440p quality finally. Love the Channel, but I was thinking going up to high resolutions was something I wanted.

Hmmm the fire chief's SUV thinks it's in a "Fixed Till Destruction" video lol
The water might still depend on ride hight or maybe some cars over heat at hotter temperatures and the cooling is better in some definitely
I feel like a switch back to 4wd might have helped steering after the front right tire got out of the way.
