Great voice, near perfect technique. I think in the theatre his singing is even more exciting. His top notes sound fabulous here, clear and smooth. His acting could be a bit more involved, it’s very controlled now and for my taste could be a bit bigger and seems he needs to own that he is a star more. But really what a beautiful ending!
I am sure that with this well-deserved win, opera houses will be queuing to sign him up for bigger and better roles although I expect he will now be travelling all over the world. He has a beautiful voice - a world class voice xx
The clip were the judges were in tears at the end was on the BBC IPlayer website for a while, but sadly it's now been removed and it doesn't appear to be anywhere on RUclips.
Thank you you for showing this piece, as it one of my late wife's favourite aria's, and just breaks my heart hearing it. But is it the most underratd pieces of music in all of opera?
I was looking for a version of this aria for my playlist and there are so very few - how can that be?! - and finally I had to concede that this was the best. Fine voice though I wasn’t as wowed by this rendition as the judges were. He will go far, though!
@@moishemillerr Yes, of course I did. But I was never a great fan of Herman Prey. As I said there are very few renditions available on yt. I would have liked to hear Thomas Allen do this in German, but his version is in English, not what I was looking for.
I shall come back to this performance again and again.
I think this aria won Gihoon the competition - it was absolutely outstanding. He's going to be a big attraction for opera lovers in the future.
He will surely do well for himself in the opera world.
I have loved opera for some 55 years. I can honestly say I have not heard anything more beautifully sung than this in that time.
