Bernad Marriot is one of the founders of the giant Dynamos Football Club.( Artists from the 50's , 60's and 70's could effortlessly multi-task like being actors, footballers and musicians all at the same time.) To this day this former footballer (now football administrator) is still known as Bernard "Magitare" Marriot.Thank you for this series Mono; its truly fascinating listening to you narrating and chronicling the history of our popular music. I really love the way you re-vitalised that Mukanya gem with "Joze Sax."
Thank you Mukoma Mono .Ndafara kuziva nhoroondo yaMukanya
Mono is a legend in his own right
Undoubtedly so. His new passion of documenting the history of Zim popular music is really invaluable because a lot of work is still needed to be published and made available to scholars of music because most students now use the now widely accessible on- line platforms like RUclips to gather information. Up until now researchers had to make do with the very few books published by other musicologists such as Prof Zindi and Joyce Jenje Makwenda hence Mono's comprehensively researched series will go a long way to preserve our music history for Ama 2000 and future generations.
Excellent. I like the fact that you always try to teach upcoming musicians that they have to play Zim music and not imitate vana Beyonce.
One of the best episodes thanks Mono and more life Mukanya!
Excellent story behind Mukanya. Wow, Mukanya played with Elisha Josamu. I had no idea.
This is a beautiful work, Mukoma. More power to you. Keep shining
You nailed it there❤
This was one of several Mukanya songs I loved so much. The first song I heard him sing was Madhebhura, and I just fell in love with it. Great stuff, Mono, and keep it up.
Song inonzi Anopenga And Waya its Classic Song I remember sekuru vangu vaine Vinyl resong iyoyo

Thanks Mono for sharing all this Zim music knowledge
Haaaaaa Mukanya playing rhumba, that's a new one. Never imagined him ever singing that music. If only we could get a video of back then
Thank you Mono for the wonderful job there we got more insight of our living legend. I hope he grants you more tracks to re-bik Tinodanana version you did came out brilliantly.
Hona Gudo woyeee
Thank you Mr Mono, have learnt a lot
Another great episode mukoma Mono. Thomas Mapfumo's music has journeyed me throughout life. A great artist. My Honours dissertation at the UZ is on Thomas Mapfumo's music and was supervised by his nephew Prof Musaemura Bonus Zimunya. In the 90s, taitoziva kuti Mukanya vano releaser new album between 21 and 23 December. Saka every christmas we had a gift from Mukanya. That was before piracy destroyed the sale of recorded music. Tichitenga ma 'records' kwete zveku burner music zvakazounwa nevakajaira kudya zvevapfupi nekureba. God bless you ana Mukanya. I loved hearing the two Sokos vachiudzana kugona kwavo.❤❤
yesssss mkoma Mono, u are a genius to bring some history of this legend!
As usual, re-biked ine kaunyanzvi
Thanks mono
I wish one day you could have a sit in interview unfiltered about his music journey, the highs, the lows I believe pane zvizhinji zvatisingazive about him
kkkkkkk uyu Wo uyu😊
We need a book version of this narrative Mkoma Mono.. Bravo 👏
Bernard Marriot ,for those who may not be aware, is of Dynamos Football Club. He was a very decent football player. His nickname was "Magitare" because of his musical prowess.
Thanks bla mono (gandanga forever)
Mabva marova my favourite! keep it up Mukoma Mono
And Hallelujah Chicken Run name was suggested by his employer......Thomas Mapfumo and his buddies were working at a chicken run and doing music after work. Their boss asked....so what is name of your band. They had no name. The employer said you are now Hallelujah Chicken Run band........
MONO MASTERPIECE!
I love Mukanya, Monomukund and this youngman called Joe sax is becoming my favorite Sax man
Mukanya vahombee
Thomas Mapfumo is not that naive because he has chosen to keep quiet about being forced to perform at Muzorewa's show!
what's the name of the song you played
I thought his real father's name is Makore
Is Mapfumo not his step father's surname? Father to Lancelot?
That's correct, I think Mono made a mistake there! Mapfumo was Thomas's step-father. His biological father is Makore!
Hi @@tsivouzande9424,
This entire interview is centered around the exact accounts provided verbatim by Mukanya himself.
So if there is any mistake its his, which I would want to doubt.
@@tsivouzande9424 I thought so too and I think that is the correct position.
Imbotiroverawo comparison pakati paBrian Mteki naThomas Mapfumo. There is a rumor that says Mteki was assaulted by Mkanya's mafia for trying to plagiarize his music. Is it true?
Those are urban myths
@@Monomukundu thanks
