Fun Fact: The Chain Chomp character was based off of a childhood experience of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto. He was once attacked by a fierce dog, but was unharmed because the dog was tethered to a chain preventing it from reaching him.
The feel of Chain Chomp is like trying to restrain a wild animal. Bullet Bill, however, feels like a simple autopilot... Chain Chomp for the win. 😃

My favorite special in the game. Too bad you can only get it when you're behind the other cars, which rarely happens if you're good at the game. That's why the best way to enjoy it is with the Action Replay.
Yeah, Bullet Bill a great item, but this needs to return. It had flaws, sadly. Example: The actual music for the Chain Chomp is about 14-16 seconds before it loops, but the item is only used for 9 seconds.
+NintendoFan 03 (Winter The Purple Teeshi) I can see why it only lasts for 9 seconds. There are moments where you want the Chain Chomp to hurry up and let go of you and run off to hit the enemy in front of you, since he moves faster when he's free. In Baby Park Bowser was in first place in final lap, I quickly used the special hoping he will let go of me on time to hit Bowser. Bowser was almost to the finish line but the Chain Chomp hit him and I won. I wish I recorded that.
Hmm, I guess that's true. What annoys me the most about this item is how slow it can be. Since its bouncing around at an inconstant rate, it can be as fast as 70 mph or even as slow as 40 mph.
no doubt! one of the best Mario kart games I've ever played! my favorite was bowser and his giant turtle shells! mk8 should bring back the specials of each drive tho!

coolguy6233 in the Mario kart DS Kiosk beta there actually was the chain chomp item. But i think the DS couldn't handle it, so they removed it and put the bullet Bill in instead.

Dylanzu he'll be alright. He'll be reused when you get to 8th place.
It just follows the track, mercilessly crushing anybody in it's path, for about 8 seconds after it's released or when it hits a wall, causing it to shrink down until it dissapears into nothingness.
Just hearing the chain chomp music puts a smile on my face. It's so darn fun to use!

Bullet Bills can leave you in bad spots. They just don't leave you in horrible spots like the mushrooms in Mushroom Gorge.
Not long ago, my friends and I played this together, and whenever I was in last, I always pulled out this item. While my friends are yelling at me and I'm laughing.
I like how when you hit something, it sounds like a bowling ball.
My childhood. This is my #1 favorite item of all times in this game.
I like the way Diddy Kong screams when he uses the Chain Chomp. Overall, I like the music!
though they are nice nothing beats the classic babies' chant "nah. nah nah nah. woohoohoo! wee! hoo! hoo!" and of course BL's tarzan cry as he uses it.
Diddy Kong's "WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" scream would have been more appropriate for this.
Ahhhhh I miss this game so much! It was one of the first video games I played in my entire life! I miss how popular it was with me and my friends back in the day. My family would also have a blast with it. Good times for sure.

In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Yoshi, Birdo, Toad, Toadette, Koopa Troopa, Koopa Paratroopa, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Wario, Waluigi, Petey Piranha and King Boo can't use the Chain Chomp special item, but Baby Mario and Baby Luigi does. Only for Baby Mario and Baby Luigi.
