Ooo I like the idea, the mother is clueless to the stuff going on around her however the step-father didn’t sell her off, the people who he works for took her, the step-dad accidentally got attached to the kid, as seen in his disappointment at 0:53 and 0:02, he works for people who kidnaps kids and experiment on them. But with the mother she leaves the house at weeks of a time to get wasted and or just avoid looking after 0198.
