Curious what category are you? I assume this race is 95% cat 2/3 with the only 1s being masters guys since most Cat 1s would be racing in the evening.

I’m a pretty fresh cat 2 only upgraded about a month ago. There were a decent number of 1s from hearing what the guys around me were saying. Maybe closer to 15-20%? I don’t truly know though. Thanks for watching!

Love this video and your commentary! I'm the RD and have pulled the fencing in on turn 6 a bit more each year to make a faster but safer line. Glad you like it! It used to have the most crashes 5 years ago. Not one this year. I was worried the red nubbies would be an issue but at speed it doesn't seem to be an issue.

I appreciate the support! The race was awesome and super fun. Registration and everything was easy and went super smoothly. Thanks for putting on such a great event! I’ll definitely come back out next year!

I haven't made a bike video yet on the channel. Thinking of building up a frame soon and filming me building it up. Otherwise, sometime soon I'll completely tear down my current frame to fully service the frame and do a rebuild video.

Would be interesting to have hr data on there. Seems like you might have just been cooked in the final based on your riding compared to how you usually play things (pretty smart). Elevation sneaks up on you dude. Nice race and congrats on the upgrade!

Yeah, I left my hr strap at home. You’re probably right about being cooked due to elevation. I appreciate the kind words!

Great video and commentary! I’m really curious about crit racing and wanted to ask for support since I haven’t found much online or on Facebook groups. I’m from St. Louis and I just went to watch the Gateway cup for the first time. It seems like all the crit racing like this one and Gateway cup are professional level events, and I haven’t been able to find more amateur friendly or local events. Do you have any tips? Is the American Criterium Cup open to amateurs at all?

Racing is super fun and you should definitely get involved next year! Generally the road racing season runs from early March - Mid September.
In criterium racing and road racing there are different categories:
Novice, Category 4, Category 3, Cat. 2 and Cat. 1. Where Cat 1 are the highest level of amateur riders. These categories are controlled by USA Cycling who you need a license from to race(its not hard to get you just sign up online or get a 1 day license at the event generally).
So at the Gateway cup there are many races for the different categories. Sometimes they combine categories but generally the races are one for each category and gender. So if you wanted to get started you would get a novice license and race in the Novice/Cat. 4 race.
As you do well in races you get points and once you have enough points you move up to the next category.
The American Criterium Cup is open to Cat 1 and Pro racers only. Since you're in St. Louis I would highly recommend going out to the Tuesday night worlds races they have next year which are weekly practice criteriums. St. Louis is a great city to get started racing.
If you haven't done any group rides I'd recommend checking this out:

@@manandbikecycling3049 thank you so much for this info! I would love to race some of these next year in the novice class, but you mentioned the American Criterium cup is only available to pro racers? Which crit racing can I do in the novice class?

@@christopherbrauch You can still do the same race course as the American Crit Cup, you just won't race in the pro race. The the races the American Crit Cup visits existed before the ACC became a thing. So for example they raced the 3rd day of Gateway Cup as part of the ACC series. You can still race the 3rd day of Gateway Cup you will just race the novice race. For finding races you can use this link it will slowly fill up with races for next year:
