I've listened to a lot of versions of Rhapsody in my life, but this will always be Canon to me. Mom had "Nero goes Pops" on her record collection and I listened to it over and over again.
When I still knew nothing about Great Music - I was just a little boy - I came across a vinyl record, an LP that I put into the stereo bought by my teenage brother, from the Reader's Digest selection. It was love at 'first listen'. These days, that song that forever won my heart is turning exactly a century old. And it sounded exactly like this... Quando non ci capivo ancora niente di Grande Musica - ero poco più di un bambino - mi sono imbattuto in un disco di vinile, un LP che inserii nello stereo comprato da mio fratello adolescente, dalla selezone reader's digest. Fu amore a "primo ascolto". In questi giorni quel brano che conquistò per sempre il mio cuore compie precisamente un secolo. E suonò precisamente così...
I don't ''believe'' in definitive versions... but if there was ever one performance that's the exception,to the rule, this has to be the one. Once you've heard it, *all* others pale out by comparison.

konigstephan I really appreciate it that you guys agree with me.
This is definitely better than most of the recordings I've heard of this piece
Anyone have the Boston pops "improvisations in the key of g" track?
this has been cut!!!! Violin solo is missing. I still LOVE the song tho :)
It's in there.
too fast for my taste but it's the best version I've ever heard!
yes ..a little to fast but brilliant nevertheless..
Fiedler's three RCA Victor recordings of the Rhapsody are excellent, but the second one, with Earl Wild from 1959, is best.
Thumbs down. Ad in the middle of this masterpiece. Shame on you.
