She's an expert, if she needed to wear gloves, she would.

No-gloves is the preferred way to handle rare books now. My library hasn't required them (actually, ALLOWED them) since the 1990s. I think the idea is that the gloves are more likely to snag and tear pages, and that is a greater risk than what is normally on a clean set of hands. I've handled a leaf of the Gutenberg Bible (from the same series as the one on another episode) with my bare hands - with full approval from our Rare Books librarian.

Most of Pawn Stars "random" people that come into the shop are actually actors. And the ones that aren't are vetted a very long time before the show airs. Sorry if this kind of messes with the fun of it all. I still enjoy watching the show though. It's fun to try and figure out which ones are the hired actors with pre-determined objects and which are just regular people with objects that the producers have previously researched.

You will never get a fair retail price in any pawn shop, you get a fair cash price for a fast sell in a pawn shop. Maybe for no other reason than they are negotiated in front of TV camera Rick is honest in pricing and making sure he gives the Fair Pawn Shop price. The guy I worked for would dig up his mother to pry the gold out of her teeth.
