  • Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway diesel loco No.12 "J.B. Snell" crosses Botolph's Bridge Road heading toward Hythe before Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway steam loco No.9 "Winston Churchill" heads toward Dymchurch. This crossing is on the very edge of Romney Marsh at the end of the line near Hythe and was the first crossing on the railway to have barriers fitted, and very smart looking red and white borders. The lights are still from the 1970s but are still in good condition. The alarm is quite loud too, although it is sort of in the middle of nowhere. The foothills of the North Downs can be seen in the background, and from the top of that ridge gives a whole view across Romney Marsh, almost to Hastings. I suspect that the bridge here across the canal was replaced with the more modern looking one a while ago. Mmmm. Modern bridge.
