I think that would qualify as a DSi double so I'm adding it to my blame transfer double playlist. Well done except for the heart snafu.

Love the analysis: your commentary is both informative and very entertaining.
That 3C bid sure was... aspirational, and well done capitalizing on their error!
I didn't know you can also give count on the second trick, depending on what you play to declarer's lead. As you pointed out, it could be useful, but it also seems to create so much noise when you're just trying to figure out so much: how many HCP does partner hold, where are declarer's tricks going to come from, how can we defeat this, should I play that honor now...

To declarer's lead, we play count. I understand your point but practicing consistency is very important. I knew to duck, but I also should have followed our agreements and ducked with count. He could still think I am doubleton spade, but it is much less likely.

It’s also the right vulnerability - even down 1 doubled is better than a partial

I have a few comments on this one. One, 3!C is nuts. On better days, you should be able to pick up 1100 or more. Two, the reopening double is automatic(it may be different in a standard context because it may go 1D-3C but one has to protect against suicidal preempts). Three, responder should convert every single time despite the weak J9xx of clubs because it may be the only plus on the board at minimum. Four, Kai, your partner needs to stop falsecarding the splitting of honors on trick 1 especially when defending a doubled partscore where you are trying to get the maximum carnage. Usually, the root of a defensive foul up is based entirely on the first mistake(also known in the legal profession as the fruit of the poisonous tree).

Completely agree. I think that this was a pair that hasn't agreed on what they do over artificial club openers. Or they have no experience against artificial club openers. They weren't sure that their partner would interpret a 2C bid as natural and wanted to be sure that they got a natural club bid in with 3C. I sympathize with this slightly but they are certainly begging to get axxed a question
