Bianca, I thank you for introducing me to this singer. His talent is obvious just one stanza in. In this recording Monty delivers a soft and romantic easy listening tune. An additional treat are your visuals. At the 0:33 mark I felt as if I just stepped into a Bob Ross painting. I'd also like (for a day) to borrow one of the small boats at the 2:30 mark. BEAUTIFUL indeed!
LIKE MOST OF THE VIEWERS, I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS SINGER WHO WAS BORN IN THE TINY CENTRAL TEXAS TOWN OF DUBLIN IN 1960. HE IS PRESENTLY 63 YEARS OLD.
WITH A VOICE AS PROFOUNDLY GORGEOUS AS HIS, HE SHOULD HAVE BECOME A SUPER STAR LIKE FELLOW TEXAN GEORGE STRAIT, WHO WAS BORN IN LUBBOCK.
HOW I MISSED HEARING MONTY HOLMES IS CURIOUS, BUT UNDERSTANDABLY
ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE
REALITY OF THE FACT THAT HE HAS THE SAME BASIC TONE AND TWANG AS HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS OF MALE COUNTRY SINGERS WHO WERE COMPETING WITH HIM AT THE TIME THAT HE WAS STRIVING TO BREAK OUT OF THE PACK. I'D HERE ALL OF THESE DUDES ON THE RADIO, IN DINERS AND CAFES, BARBECUE SHACKS, TRUCK STOPS, TAVERNS AND CASINOS, AND THEY ALL SOUNDED SO SIMILAR TO ME THAT NONE OF THEM MADE AN IMPRESSION ON ME. BUT HEARING HIM NOW, ALONE IN MY BEDROOM WATCHING VIDEOS,
HIS VALUE SHINED THROUGH. THE FACT THAT HE OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T HAVE A HUGE CAREER OF RECORDING SUCCESSES DIDN'T HELP.
HIS FINE VIBRATO STANDS OUT AMONG SO MANY OF HIS CONTEMPORARIES WHO SANG "FLAT", AND HIS ROBUST, AMPED-UP BAND WITH AN IDEAL STEEL GUITAR PLAYER AND GREAT ARRANGER AND STUDIO AMBIENCE GOT MY ATTENTION AND STOKED MY ENTHUSIASM. TRULY ONE OF THE GREATEST NEW ARTIST DISCOVERIES FOR ME IN SOME TIME.👍👏😊
