BTW: If you look at the effects in this game: it looks like the effect routine only uses one channel and prioritises with sound to play on that channel. It's laser or explosion or enemy hit. With the music moved to OPN, could you send the effects to the different psg channels? (enemy hit, player shoot, explosions). Not sure what the removing/ adjusting of the sound effect priority system would mean in terms of game speed (maybe it needs 7mhz then?) but it could be possible in my theory to play three effects at the same time (more with Darky ;) than just one effect.
