The Dawner Prince Electronics PULSE is a painstakingly researched homage to the Doppola and Maestro® Rover RO-1 rotating speaker cabinets as used by a certain Mr Gilmour, available as of July 20, 2020. It's stereo or mono, easy to use, features speed and volume controls for fast, slow, left and right signals; has mix and 'inertia' (ramp speed) controls and the most glorious rotating tones you've probably ever experienced in a pedal. If you want to control speed with an external expression pedal you can do that too. I love it! Now, before you go all like "Why didn't you play any Pink Floyd?.." on me, 1. I'm not a cover act and 2. the copyright police are out in force. So you'll have to grab one and try all the classic tunes for yourself. You won't be sorry! Pulse. Lovely work, Zoran & Co.
There's an 'in context' jam over a generic Floyd-ian track at • Dawner Prince Electron...

Really nice sounding rotary with nice features and a smooth organic ramp. It's bomb in stereo! I don't think my wife is gonna be happy about this.

This is one of the few rotary sims that gets that awesome, Leslie grind at slow speeds. If it's anywhere as good as the Dawner Prince Boonar, I'm getting one!

The Pulse is great pedal, but I prefer my Ventilator II . The Pulse is like drier, thiner , more phaser like sounding.Obviously , better for Gilmour tones. The Ventilator II is chewier, fatter and more fluid. I think it is also more flexible. At least for me, there is still no better rotary sim than Ventilator II. But then again, these are different pedals , design to emulate different things. Both are great ! Well done !

Unfortunately I do not have a second amp to test the pedal in stereo. Did you have to change output volume on the pedal? When I run the pedal in mono and set it to unity volume, I seem to have a volume drop when the mix is not set to 100% dry or 100% effect.

Brilliant as always! An amateur-ish question for Mr. Kingman, or the group: where would this best be placed in a wet/dry or wet/dry/wet rig? I have an Echosystem, and would ideally like to utilize its 'series' or 'parallel' stereo delay types. Does the mono input of the Pulse mean that it would need to be placed before the delay? Thanks!

I would look on Gilmourish.com. He’s a pretty cool guy, so he’d probably tell you how Gilmour even sets up his rig. On a Wet/Dry rig, I’d put it before delay, except I’d sure hate to not have that stereo spread for the rotary.
It’s not a true stereo pedal, so I think it might really depend on how you’re setup, and what you use to split the signal.

      He’s really great.
I’d be surprised if he doesn’t eventually get ahold of one of these to do a video.
Neo Instruments really do some of the greatest Leslie emulation, but this is a more affordable option, and Dawner Prince have such excellent effects.

You want your delay going into the rotary. So in a W/D rig, your wet side would feature "rotarised delays" instead of "delayed rotary"
The idea is to have your delay hit your virtual Rotary speaker - like if you had an actual Rotary. However, there's cases where delay and other effects are added in post or, live, at the desk (or some other routing/control solution). Björn did a demo of the Pulse, I believe it was in mono? Gilmour ran a complex wet/less wet/rotary + god knows what else rig in the 90s. Trying to replicate that on a budget is always going to be a challenge. I think it's best to do our own thing with these little boxes of joy :)

Hi Brett .. in your opinion, does.it sound better than the the Neo Vent ll ?????
    Thank you very much !

    • @BrettKingman

It sounds different, Jamie - because it should. The Vents do Leslies; this one does Doppola/Maestro RO-1. Similar, but not the same. They're both at the top of their game.

I have the Neo Ventilator II (the large one) and keep comparing the tones to this one. I guess the issue is that I love them both. They may be side by side in the future. Is there any expression pedal control on this one?

I dunno, it's a bit strong. Sitting here comparing it to my H&K Rotosphere and Night Wire harmonic trem, it sounds a lot like the LFO on the Night Wire. Doesn't really have the sweet carillon of bells tone that the Rotosphere has, which really nails that Leslie/Gilmour tone.
