Alcohol withdrawal and/or overdose (yes it can happen have had a friend die to alcohol od) on the other hand are horrid and rarely talked about alcohol is really one of the few drugs than can kill you if you stop, and does so the fastest amongst the few drugs that can kill you from stopping, not uncommon to find alcoholics dead in deb from the DTs with alcohol still in their breaths

Not always. The first time I overdosed, while the emts were narcaning the shit out of me, the cops bagged up the rest of my fent and ice and even a couple of guns and 3 weeks later there was a warrant out for my arrest. Felonious possession. Got me 3 days later on the way to work. Jefferson County alabama.

Twenty years ago, I lost one of my dearest friends (Johnnie), because when he OD'd, the people he was with, they literally just dragged him out to the hallway, and left him there with his bag on top of him. Didn't even "stop and drop" at an ER. Also, earlier in the night, he called his younger bro (also my friend and ex), but he refused to answer the phone, and wouldn't let him stay at his apartment with his "at the time" girlfriend. He was trying to dole out "tough love" because he had yet to experience addiction himself, which is a whole other story because I LITERALLY did save his life. The biggest mindf*ck of it all is that Johnnie and his girlfriend had literally been sleeping on my couches for weeks, on and off, with everyone making sure they had everything they needed to be as comfy as possible when they were with us. He NEVER called me that night!! No texts either!! And he KNEW we were chosen family and my door was ALWAYS open to him and whomever he brought along, no matter the time. I obviously didn't support anyone using hard drugs in my home, and I'm guessing that's the reason he didn't call me. (And sadly enough my own battle with addiction started about five years later. My hometown, and the surrounding towns are plagued with it. Plus I have a progressive genetic disorder and a whole bunch of health issues.) I go back in my mind all the time, just wishing he'd chosen to come sleep at my house, but that's not how addiction works. I miss him all the time and it definitely wasn't his time to go. He brought everyone so much joy!! And very sadly, his girlfriend Denise had the hardest time after he passed. Same with a few of his other exes. Anyhow, she lost her battle a few months later as well. And then about a decade later I hunted down the younger brother friend/ex. He was living on the streets and addicted to meth and heroin intravenously. Somehow I was able to help get him into treatment and I supported him financially until he was doing it on his own. He's now married with kids!! I'm conning up on fifteen years. It's certainly been a rollercoaster but I'm still here and that's what matters.

FYI for anyone who catches this message: narcan wears off.
If someone is overdosing on a crazy amount of fentanyl and you spray them with narcan, that narcan can wear off after about 30 minutes. So, if there's still a bunch of fent in them they go right back to square one. If you're not there to hit them again, they're dead.
I just learned this the other day. It's terrifying.

    • @mikep9312
      @mikep9312 Month ago +50

The narcan doesn't "wear off" though, short term Naxolone and it's long acting brother, Naltrexone is theoretically impossible to remove or deactivate from the body with the receptors it attaches to, it's the crazy amount of fentanyl that just overwhelms the safeguard, Narcan is serious stuff, I think you're mistaken for how long it takes to reach peak blood concentration, Naxolone relies on metabolites to do pretty much all of its business.

I live in a bad area of town in Canada cuz of rising apartment costs. The addicts moved in the area about a year ago. I got so dam tired of stepping over bodies to walk the dogs or take out the garbage. I'm 53 & too old to deal with this shit. We can get cases of free narcan here if we want it, no script needed at every pharm. It's the 3 vial injection type. I quit counting the people I've saved but fent is dif. 911 tells me to keep injecting til they're awake ish. I've only kept 2 alive til ambulance got here. TWO out of dozens. Wtf happened to good old fashioned weed???

My condolences, I am not that old yet but its why I bought my home outside of the city. I will move there once I am also 50 or older. I am afraid that you are attempting to save people that are already dead. If they took this drug voluntairly then there is no saving them. They will do it again in a weeks time or lesa and eventually nobody will save them. The only thing that would save these people is unfortunately not politically "correct" so this will keep happening. The only people worth saving are the ones that did not even want to take it, and no the guy in the video did want to take it. Sometimes this stuff is mixed into food or some such. Thats the only people you can even save long term.

As someone who was a heavy user and experience ODing on fent...I didnt want to say this because some people who are looking for an out might take this and run with it but it is essentially just the same as "falling asleep" and you don't feel anything at all. It is indeed the least painful way to go. But I am here and beyond glad that someone saved my life.

Yeah, but I’ve also heard stories directly from a friend who said that it wasn’t as “peaceful “ of a death as we’d think, he recalled when he overdosed multiple times that he was gasping for air and felt the “pain” of being unable to breathe and passing out slowly as his body was panicking and shutting down (he got narcaned ofc otherwise wouldn’t have told me this story) but others have said it was just like falling asleep, and they wake up dazed confused and in acute withdrawal pain and agitation from the narcan… they wouldn’t have known they were dead otherwise if they just died (not to go into what actually happens when we die, because that’s too philosophical/religious speculation and we don’t know in reality. It just seems like nothing at all happens and we perceive nothing ) so in that case this is a very peaceful way of dying possibly, or maybe might be unlucky and feel like choking to death and having your body shut down until your brain no longer lets you perceive consciousness and you 💀

Let us talk about, what that would feel like. It does not matter if it is an atomic bomb like the two in Japan in 1945 or a hydrogen bomb, the effects will be the same. Imagine you are sitting at a table, having breakfast. You take a bite of your bread, you're reading the news. When suddenly you see everything turn bright in an instant and, depending on how close to the detonation you are, this will be the last thing you see or feel. Your body will vaporize faster than it takes to send the signals of it to your brain. This is the good outcome actually, the farer away you are from the detonation, the more horrifying it gets. Radiation is not even the biggest killer in this rendezvous, at least not in the instant. It all depends on many variables, it gets more complicated over time and distance. Those bombs are horrifying, no matter how small

Former opiod addict here and survivor of over 10(13 total od's) fentanyl overdoses. There was only 1 time ever that I realized I was overdosing. My legs/knees started buckling andexperienced my consciousness shutting off for a split second. Every other time I ever overdosed, I didnt even know it was happening, rather I would realize I had overdosed when I woke up on the floor/couch/bed and noticed a lot of time had passed on the clock while I was out. One moment I would begin to start feeling mellow, next moment Im waking up anywhere from a half hour to over 7 hours later on the floor. Very scary to think that you dont even get a warning, you just pass out. And only half of my od's happened with others being present. I was very lucky to have survived the od's when I was alone. Sadly, almost 20 people I knew in the past, including a few who were in their early to mid 20's did not survive their od's, most of them to fentanyl overdoses :-( This july will be my 10 years clean from all of that garbage, and I never look back, except to remind myself how miserable I was waking up every day living a life of addiction.

I never thought I’d spend this much time thinking about grass, yet here we are. Honestly, this video made me look at something I’ve ignored my whole life and go, “wait… that’s actually kind of incredible.” Grass is everywhere. It’s under our feet, in parks, on sports fields, creeping through sidewalk cracks like it owns the place-and somehow we just treat it like background noise. But when you break it down the way this video did, grass is lowkey one of the main characters of life on Earth.
Think about it: grass feeds animals, which feed people. It prevents soil erosion, cools down the environment, produces oxygen, and somehow survives being stepped on, mowed, eaten, and ignored constantly. That alone deserves respect. The fact that it can regrow over and over again no matter how badly we treat it is kind of inspiring, not gonna lie. Grass is basically resilience in plant form.
I also liked how this video showed the variety of grass types. I always thought grass was just… grass. Green. Same thing everywhere. Turns out there’s a whole world of different species, textures, climates, and purposes. Some grasses are built for sports, some for grazing, some just vibing in the wild. It’s wild how something so common can be so complex.
There’s also something weirdly calming about grass. Sitting on it, lying down, touching it with your hands-it’s grounding in a literal and mental way. Maybe that’s why people say “go touch grass” when someone needs a reset. It’s not even an insult, it’s solid advice.
Overall, this video had no right being this interesting. I came in expecting something boring and left with a newfound appreciation for the green stuff holding the planet together. Respect to grass. 🌱Alright, fair enough - let’s really do grass justice 🌱
    Here’s a **longer, ~300+ word** RUclips-style comment:
    ---
I genuinely did not expect a video about grass to be this engaging, but somehow you pulled it off. Grass is one of those things that exists so constantly in our lives that it basically becomes invisible. It’s just “there.” Parks, lawns, fields, sports stadiums, roadsides - grass is everywhere, quietly doing its job without ever asking for attention. This video made me stop and actually *notice* it for the first time, which is kind of impressive in itself.
What really stood out to me is how important grass is to literally everything. It’s not just decoration or something we mow on weekends. Grass supports entire ecosystems. It feeds animals, stabilizes soil, helps manage water runoff, produces oxygen, and even plays a role in regulating temperature. Without grass, the world would look completely different - and honestly, probably wouldn’t function very well at all. It’s wild how something so simple can be so foundational.
I also appreciated learning about the sheer variety of grass. Most of us just think “green = grass,” but there are so many different types adapted to different climates, uses, and conditions. Some grasses are tough enough to survive heavy foot traffic, some grow best in extreme heat, some are crucial for agriculture, and others just exist naturally in the wild, doing their thing. It really puts into perspective how much thought and evolution goes into something we barely acknowledge.
There’s also something oddly poetic about grass. It gets stepped on, cut down, eaten, and ignored constantly, yet it just keeps growing back. No drama, no complaints. Just pure persistence. In a weird way, that’s kind of inspiring. Grass is resilience made visible.
Overall, this video completely changed how I think about something I’ve overlooked my entire life. I came for a random topic and left with actual appreciation. Never thought I’d say this, but yeah - grass deserves more respect.

My friend passed away about 3 years ago from an OD. I have a few things to say to those who are peer pressured or going through an addiction: you are loved. One of the hardest things I ever saw was my friend in their casket; their skin was an eerie bluish-yellow color, and their facial structure was sunken in. It was painful and heartbreaking knowing I talked to them a day before they passed. The town was filled with heartbreak, and the most devastating thing I had to witness was their mother screaming and begging them to come back, and their poor sibling, and their family. My best advice to those who want to try or do this: DON'T. I am thankful to carry their legacy and memory along, but please use this as a warning to spread the dangers of drug addiction. Thank you, and God bless you all.

CP laws are pretty weird. You have these situations where shit needs to be administered medically but no medical professional will participate because of the hippocratic oath. So you have these penal system oafs administering multiple different injections when none of them know what the hell anyone is doing. Just trying to layer enough things to get you to die.

i OD'd on fent back in 2019 or 2020. i was a heavy everyday user but i guess the pill i got was too hot for my tolerance. the video is a pretty accurate description, i remember changing my light bulb settings on my lamp to set the mood for my after work dose. then just nothingness people always asked if i was scared but i literally just... wasn't there. my dad found me i guess and next thing i know I'm on the floor with cops and paramedics screaming in my face saying "WHAT DID YOU TAKE?" I wake up just confused and fading in and out. i woke up in the hospital like 2 hours later asked what happened. a nurse said i overdosed they gave me 4 shots of Narcan and almost declared me and that i could sign some papers and leave. i felt so embarrassed i just walked home from the hospital. i still kept using for a while but i finally got out of it. I'm 4 years sober now, anyone who reads this...if i can do it you can too. stay strong brothers and sisters it.... IT DOES GET BETTER!!

What is described here is a medium-dose overdose with a pill. I overdosed on a very high dose of fentanyl through an injection of adulterated heroin once. I didn't even finish my injection, i instantly lost breath, felt like something stomped on my spine, tried to say "help" but couldn't make any sound and just collapsed, it took no more than 10 seconds. Woke up in an ambulance, a person close to me reacted instantly and saved my life. It wasn't peaceful and light at all, but most overdoses are more similar to what is described here
After waking up i felt a terrible pain in all my body and had severe nausea and headache, felt like i was very drunk despite getting fent out of my system through Nalokson (Narcan). Pain, headache and problems with balance and walking faded away over the next 48 hours

She was addicted to heroin for about six yrs or so and the last couple years it was more the fentanyl she was after. She died from injecting (her way of using it) and this video didn't help much cuz I know pills vs injecting make things different and I don't know if it's as "peaceful" as this video makes it out to be when they inject it.

For people wondering why something so deadly is still being used in hospitals please remember this is literally the purpose of drugs like these in the first place, and they really work well when used as intended and are heavily monitored. My friend had Leukemia and had to undergo a bone biopsy during his treatment, he did not feel them drill into his hip bone and take a core sample and was back in his hospital room talking to his wife less than an hour after he was taken away for the procedure.

The fact that the cartels profit off of this and many people, including Americans are dying from it more than everything else proves that the cartel is the biggest threat to America and the rest of the world. I can’t believe America and other countries can’t just grow some balls and go to war with the cartel and stop them. Yes I know that can lead to civilian casualties, but shit happens life goes on, and sometimes things have to happen for the betterment and it sucks.

I am a heavy beer drinker & used to to drink 6-8 beers with no problems. No slurred speech no swerving. Mixed moderate doses of morphine with beer no problems. Mixed 5mg oxycodone without big issues bit sedation.
But 10 mgs of Oxycodone already are too much; breathing depression & sedation is quite noticable.

I live in one of the few that don’t make it anymore but if 8 or so other countries around mine make (especially countries like Poland that have quite the cheap economy compared to the rest western Europe) it’s piss easy to get your hands on it for pretty much stock price that’s why you be seeing a ton of US rappers flex European pints now it just financially makes more sense and won’t be cut with anything that could risk killing you

A great alternative to narcan if you have nothing else and help is many minutes away is suboxone. The naloxone portion of suboxone acts very similar to narcan, and yes people have actually survived overdosing when administered suboxone sublinguals under the tongue. It’s one of the fastest ways to get the medication through the body.

It wasn’t your fault, man. It’s not that you weren’t around at the right time. Fentanyl is an epidemic. It takes people you love, and it does so whether you want to help them or not. There’s nothing you can do for the dead, and any guilt you feel is shackling you.
It seems you have a good heart. Help the living people you love stay away from any potential sources if you’d like, but please. Let the guilt go, for your sake. I’m sure none of your friends would have wanted you to live with this feeling.

I’ve overdosed dozens of times, I’ve been hit with narcan at least 30 times, and I can honestly say that the OD itself was an intense wave of euphoria, followed by so much pleasure that it causes you to “nod out” repeatedly
The OD was 100% painless, if at all rememberable. Getting hit with Narcan however was EXTREMELY painful

All correct. But (8:52) you haven´t withdrawal symptoms by Naloxon(Narcan) after first use of F. Btw.: The mostly killed by F. are those who start with the same dose again after a withdrawal than before

    • @mortesilenz2298
      @mortesilenz2298 Day ago

With F nobody even knows wtf dose they take because of how little of a dose you need and the amount of filler and so many people that die from it don't even use it it just somehow got in their drug of choice. Legalization is very clearly the best solution by far but I feel nobody takes it seriously, it's frustrating to me because it would stop funding criminal cartels and all the money that they had been taking from communities all across the world would instead stay in the communities and would be taxed to fund government programs to help those that need it. People would know exactly what drug they take and how much so countless lives would be saved easily because there would no longer be people using K or coke or meth and instantly dying because somehow there was F in it. Opiate addicts would have access to Ibogaine which is a drug that cures opiate addiction without withdrawal. The drugs would be much less harmful as well because they would be regulated and made properly. When alcohol was illegal the stuff sold on the street could blind you, drug laws don't help anyone they just fund criminal organizations to the point that they can rival their government and just makes everything way more dangerous because there is no quality control. I see so many people are negatively impacted by the drug problem but I never see any other solutions, they act like what I say is crazy but don't point out how I'm wrong. It feels like people don't actually care tbh.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've overdosed several times. He's right, no fear, no pain... Nothing. You fade away and wake up in a ambulance or er. I was a heavy drug user back when the opioid epidemic was in the pill mills and pain clinics. The doctors and governments cut everyone off in the late 2000's so everyone was scrambling on where to get their fix, that's when the black market stepped in. Yeah, opiates/opioids were dangerous... But at least you knew what/ how much you were getting from a pharmacy. Now it's like he said, the odds of getting a pressed pill over a real one are extremely high! In my eyes... The government made the epidemic SO much worse....

And that why we need state regulated legalised drugs.

The problem is the first state or country to do it will get an influx of junkies and the locals will not be too happy about it, so the state will revert to criminalizing drugs. Happened before.

@Mr.Atomic, sorry man, I came up in Miami during the Cocaine Cowboy days of the seventies and eighties. I saw friends die, had their lives ruined, and sometimes watching brilliant minds never reaching near their potential. And yeah I had my moments.. I was convinced that the government should hand dope out, any type, any amount. My reasoning was that people who want it will get it, if they can't control themselves they would die off and after a number of years Darwinism would balance the scales. But I have to admit that I was very, very.wrong. Just look at Oregon and California for a quick tutorial. Is there anything about what has happened there make you believe that uncontrolled drug use is beneficial? Or to break it down further, are there less overdoses, less crime, less of a burden on taxpayers who have pay for their habit, pay for ER care, pay for their food and essentials, and get paid for their compassion by getting robbed or mugged? My error in believing as you is that I kinda forgot how that a sizable subset of users lose their sense of self, worth, and especially dignity and won't pull out of the spiral. One thing that I forgot in.my tally of costs is the cost of government sponsored rehab which usually fails. I have been down a number of these trails and nobody reading this should try to naysay me. I have the benefit of age, experience, and I was a few chromosomes on the lucky side to pull out, and not wreck or lost my life. Good luck and do your best to stay clean!

    What does it feel like?
As someone who has been there three times (rudely yanked back into the world thanks to Narcan every damn time), its.....nothing. The void. Peace. There is no suffering at all.
Getting narcanned on the other hand? Absolute misery, instant migraine headache and projectile vomiting.

Good job educating people. This country needs it. I was hooked on fentanyl for almost 10 years and barely survived
