Testing an optical distributor

Recently bought an old/used Mallory unilite. Wanted to bench test it before installing it into my 1969 oldsmobile 442

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I tested mine after rebuild to a 12v truck buzzer and it worked. I didn’t have a light.

That was a GREAT BASIC TUTORIAL!!! Thanks!!! I was chef the Mallory guy testing a Unilite dizzy, but between his robotic speak, and complete lack of “why/ how’s” he lost everyone watching it!!! You just simplified the dizzy test!!! Does this test work on both the optical and magnetic pickup’s? Thanks again!!!
