- Kenyan President William Ruto has termed today’s protests as "treasonous events".
In a televised address from State House, Ruto said the demonstrations had been "hijacked" and he was putting "on notice the planners, financiers, orchestrators, abetters of violence and anarchy".
He added that the military had been deployed across the country “in response to the security emergency caused by the ongoing violent protests".
“This marks a critical turning point in how we respond to such threats on national security," he said.

@@Esquire266If not for how the police handled the protests this would not have escalated to this point. We have a right to protest according to our constitution..we were practicing our right but because whatever we are protesting against is supported by the government, the police use alot of force and are not afraid to take lives because no one will hold them accountable.
So basically the parliament building and even most businesses owned by members of parliament were burned down because of how the police handled the situation but mainly because citizens are tired of corrupt individuals within the government.
I've been going through the internet and I've just realized that international news are not really telling it as it is. We are not against getting taxed, the finance bill that we are rejecting has not outlined taxes in all of its clauses..we just want accountability

In the last few days we've been peacefully protesting but that has not been captured by international media stations. There was no vandalization of property, no theft no nothing and that is how it was also supposed to be. All we wanted was to be heard.

Kenyatta is the reason the finance bill exists. His heavily spending and Chinese borrowing for his SGR project that was never completed has led to Kenya defaulting on its debt for the last 5 years in a row which has weakened the Kenyan shilling, increased food prices, and led to a need for higher taxation to repay thr debt. Kenyatta was also the one who let thr economy collapse during Covid by imposing violent lockdowns with police brutalising the public and heavily restricting people's ability to do business. The call to reject finance bill has turned to a call to have have him resign. People died and fought for the new constitution. The kidnapping of young people and using live bullets on protesters has now escalated this and the best option is for him to resign.

The police roll should have been to work with the protesters and get them involved with the crowd management to keep everyone safe and well organized.. this would have stopped anyone breaking off to damaged anything. Also encourage the protesters to keep it peaceful through loud speakers..
because the government are so detached, there was know communication between the protesters and the government or police forces who are there to protect life, Not in danger them.. these are simple things that could have been done, it’s called, None physical intervention and communication..
