Definitely. Even the dairy Laughing Cow has that buttery cheese-spread taste. I used to love Laughing Cow before going vegan 12 years ago. Would love to buy the plant based version in South Africa. (Btw: this is the only time a cow will laugh... the rest should be called the weeping cow). Love you guys' weird, dry, spontaneous sense of humour 😊
These processed cheese-like products taste okay the first time around but the more I eat them, the more those aftertastes begin to pop out at me. Pretty soon, that's all I can taste. I just can't eat them at all. Kudos to you for continuing to try new ones.
Love it ❤️ !! Not much with vegan cheese but glad it's out there .. and I am now cancer free 🙏 grateful to your channel and you guys with them good recipes!! 🎉 So grateful
The dairy version of Laughing Cow is a spreadable cheese so, it sounds like your description of the texture is spot on. And the herb version does have a “pizza” herb flavor vs the more dill flavor most of the herbed cheeses do. Can’t wait to find this in my local store. Great review!
I’ve never tried it by itself I don’t think that’s the point you need to spread it. I’ve only had the garlic and herb and it’s so good! Here ins Canada 🇨🇦 can find ya most grocery stores now.
I love how honest Andrew is… because not a vegans want (or are willing) to pay a lot for specialty foods… in fact, my good friend hates when people get her the fancy vegetarian options at functions like weddings etc… if it’s buffets style she’s happier eating the side dishes… she’s not vegan so it is a lot easier… Plant based dairy is not generally something I find tasty…
Hearing someone refer to Laughing Cow as "bougie" is kinda lulz; they were never a good cheese so much as a step above American cheese slices, more in the range of the Babybel single serving over packaged wax + plastic wrapped mini cheeses I think? I guess I might be curious to try these, but I doubt I would do so more than once. If Andrew digs blue cheeses, the Vreamery in Paso Robles, CA seemed to have a wider selections of such things than any other vegan cheese oriented spot I have ever found. Well worth checking out in person, but I think they do online orders and delivery via mail too?
@angelatillman4323 The Plant Based Philadelphia Cream Cheese sold here in the USA is made with bad ingredients while the plant based Philadelphia cream cheese sold in the UK is made with better for you food ingredients.
Was excited to see this, the original flavor, and picked it up. I thought it was terrible - actually threw it all away after trying the first wedge, so big waste of money. Am kind of a former cheese addict and rather picky about vegan cheeses, my own homemade stuff taste better than most I have tried. The ones I do appreciate are the new Daiya mozzarella shreds for melting on pizza or pasta, the Violife parmesan wedge for grating and the Miyoko's creamy mozzarella block for thickening up sauces. Mostly I just use my own versions. Started adding a little liquid smoke to my basic recipe and it really tastes nice, like a smoked cheddar or gouda, and even my husband liked it.
I have not seen this yet. There's another little round kind I can not think of the nam that is so worth it. It melts great as well..oh and Nice to see you two😊😊😊❤✌️👍
@@thomasravenYes! I noticed that nasty aftertaste too! It reminded me of the way wet dog smells but in taste form. It’s a shame because minus that aftertaste it would taste very good!
I tried the herb one because it’s the only one that we can get up here in Canada in my area. I didn’t like it as much at first, but it really grew on me and I actually enjoyed it by itself in the end. Oddly enough, it’s actually cheaper dollar for dollar in my Canadian market, which is not the norm. I believe I pay anywhere between $5.70 and $6.90 Canadian at the big grocery store chains when I buy it here. I just found your channel after years on vegan RUclips by the way. I love it! I’m vegan for 30 years. New sub. 💚
I have a vague recollection of Laughing Cow cheese--like a drier cream cheese with a distinct Swiss cheese-like flavor--and have been leery of the plant-based one because I don't know if you can replicate that with plant ingredients. Will give it a shot, once, based on Larisha's recommendation, because the Good Planet one isn't available here. Thanks for this review!
Your vids together are so good. Love Nard Dog Cooks too! I got the peace sign T for me and Walk With Love T for my husband.. do you have swag together? Anyway. Love your work.
Have you guys tried the non-dairy Baby Bell cheese? I think it needs work I'll have to go and try the laughing cow cheese it's at my local supermart here in New York.
I live in the UK I didn’t know there was a plant based version hhhm I gotta check we have it here but I’m assuming we don’t i’ve only ever had the original dairy version and usually I go for the light cheese we grow up with it in school we would just spread it on our cream crackers. I remember having it at lunchtime that’s one of my earliest members of laughing cow cheese triangle it’s always delicious to know that there is a plant based, allergen wise I see there’s no xanthan gum or soy in it which is great, but there’s pea protein. I’ve also just seen the reviews arnt that great via supermarket feedback by customers online but I’m curious to still try.
Sorry to post an unrelated to cheese comment, but: How did Andrew get his hair to grow so long & thick??? I’m totally jealous & would love to know if it’s due to genetics or products? Thanks!
I wonder is you used a bunch at one time if you could make a baked Brie type of spread. I saw them at target once a few months ago but haven’t seen them since.
You guys should try Rebel Cheese! It's a restauraunt in Austin, Texas and they make their own delicious cheeses. They ship their cheeses anywhere in the U.S!
Did you guys review the fynd cream cheese yet! I saw these terrible cheese at wf (laughing cow)! I rush to try it, but no bueno in my opinion! I almost got 2 but I’m glad I didn’t. Babybel I feel like is better, plus I didn’t throw it out. Best
Rainbow Grocery in San Francisco had Fynd, briefly. I thought it was better than a lot of vegan cream cheese alternatives I have tried over the decades, but I only managed to purchase it twice before it seemed to vanish from shelves, never to return. Not sure what is up with that.
I’ve never eaten the real cheese but bought it for my daughter and it used to be the only cheese she would eat. Now she has expanded her taste buds as she’s gotten older and eat more variety of cheese. As I mentioned before I shy away from originally dairy based companies who are jumping on the plant based products train. If you guys live near the Tristate area, I get any dairy free/vegan product either at Whole Foods or ShopRite.
Before I went vegan I'd eat one of these with a piece of fruit after workouts. I prefer homemade dill havarti now but the convenience of these might be nice when traveling. I'll have to look for the Good Planet ones.
Trader Joe’s in MI has some plant based baby bel but I’m hard pressed to find any vegan cheese aside from kite hill cream cheese that passes as good with my YuKA app most of the are too high in sodium and calories and many have toxic chemicals fyi
@@MakeItDairyFree I think homemade cheese is the best way to go can you guys feature some recipes to do that and it’s healthier than these store bought cheezes
Woah! $7!? It’s about £2.50 here in the UK for the vegan one, must be imported? Was funny that over there it’s considered boujie, it’s a kids snack here. When I was a kid (in the 80s) you used to cut the end off and squeeze the cheese out into your mouth, ew!
I find that I have that issue often when pea protein is involved. It's a hard flavor to describe but I feel like it always has a funky aftertaste that's off putting.
Laughing Cow was a staple in my college care packages, but I really didn’t like this. I couldn’t even finish the package. Too many strange/bad aftertastes.
Well, it never was: "La vache qui rit" (Laughing Cow) but rather "La vache qui crie" (the crying cow) I'll never use their products because of their false, and unethical advertising.

I tried this and wanted to tell them to do better. Making plant-cheese at home is easy and more delicious 😊
LOL!
We appreciate you both advancing into the unknown of cheese for us.
LOL, anytime!
I think laughing cow is mostly a spreadable cheese not like standard block cheese.
Definitely. Even the dairy Laughing Cow has that buttery cheese-spread taste. I used to love Laughing Cow before going vegan 12 years ago. Would love to buy the plant based version in South Africa. Exactly yeah it’s like a cream cheese but spreadable

Wow. Thanks for this review. I’m 63. That Laughing Cow brand has been around a long time. I remember them from my childhood. 😊

I honestly love this cheese!
I've never had it either, so I probably wouldn't bother now. I appreciate you trying it.

I’d be interested in a review of the natures fynd yogurt. I’ve seen them at Whole Foods in a lot of flavors.

I tried the garlic and herb one. I didn't think it was that great but that is my opinion about most non-dairy products made with almonds.
Is this an actual cured plant cheese or a cheese alternative (something to taste/melt like cheese)?

I loved these as a kid, unfortunately hated the vegan ones, I think they need to reformulate & make it taste better, it actually tasted sour
I wonder if it's bc of the pea protein, idk I always get a funky taste when it's in things personally

I thought it was one of the worst tasting things I’ve ever tried, also I Purchased mine from Whole Foods in Sacramento
OH NO!

The main ingredients in these dairy free cheeses is seed oils. Very inflammantory, better to just go without imo.
That's great for you!
