Last night I genuinely had a mental breakdown. I felt like nothing I was doing was right and that I'd never be able to be enough. Voices were screaming at me "You're not enough." "You'll never be enough." "You'll never amount to anything." "No matter how hard you try, it will never be enough." Thankfully my boyfriend was able to get the voices to stop and be the support I needed in this moment, but I greatly needed this today. You guys are beautiful, don't ever stop what you're doing.

My daughter emily has been listening to her since she was little and we've seen her live! She would only sleep to Lindsey and still to this day we look forward and litterally stop whatever we are doing just to see her new videos! We have family nights pretending to be her! I’m CRYING. I’ve been dealing with depression since I was six. So roundabout 21 years. Those voices in my head telling me I’m not good enough never. Shut. Up. I was listening to this, watching the video, and I was fine. I related. The tears didn’t start until 1:46. And I realized something: This is what I want. I want to scrub off the words and remember that while I might not be vital to the universe, I’m still *enough*. Thank you for this song and this video. I want to thank you for sharing your musical talent and your heart with your fans. Your willingness to share your own struggles (though different from mine) touched me in a way that I could empathize with, and I'm so very grateful. You've cheered me up when I needed something uplifting. I've even had little day dreams of collaborating with you in song. Lindsey Stirling is one of the greatest talents I have had the pleasure to listen to. The positive energy that she radiates has kept me alive for many years......... I live on the wet cold streets of Seattle. I have a heart condition that gets more expensive every year. All the people that dislike her music just need more time to look at themselves..........that is very hard to do and a lot of them take the negative road. Lindsey has overcome adversity in her life. People should look at that.
Although it's actually important to listen to actual constructive criticism. It can be easy to put all of it into one basket in an attempt to deal with it, I see this happen all the time. Like I am pretty sure I have made a constructive criticism comment about the direction of the newer music videos of hers a while ago, about some elements from the older style I miss, which was entirely my opinion but it wasn't just criticizing for the sake of it.
Forget Christian. They're a great band. Period! Christian or not. Mormon or not. We shouldn't have to label them as a Christian band or rather we shouldn't have to designate them into a religious category. While technically yes they are Christian's, what they sing about is universal and applicable to everyone which I think is better.
Anybody notice that as the song went from the negative comments to the positive ones that they changed clothes? They went from black clothes to signify the darkness of some people, to white/light clothes to signify the light/happiness that people get from listening to their music. Such a beautiful and easily missed way that you can tell of the tone shift. At least that's what I got out of it. Both of y'all, just keep making your music and do your best to ignore the negative people in this world.

Last year I almost fell into depression what kept me from falling into depression was listening to your songs which kept my head up and return to my normal self once again. This is the tragedy of social media: things a normally decent person would never say aloud in the presence of another suddenly seem appropriate to post in the relative anonymity of a chat room or comment box. For me, this video is powerful in its own right, but is made magical by the combined talents of Switchfoot and Lindsey. I’ve respected them all for so many years. If anything positive has come of the online hazing of years past,it’s that finally society accepts that mental illness is a reality to more than a random few, anxiety and depression are commonplace in varying levels, and that speaking out to say “I’m not alright” is finally being listened to.
Sure, it's true sometimes you hear voices that say you're not enough and for that reason we do not fight against rights and do not look for justice, The thing is this when you live hearing negative you can't change anything instead if you believe something you might try it.
Think the two comments that made me the most sick were the ones disbelieving her fight with anorexia and that she makes the violin a joke. Idiots, she's fought hard and doing better so yes, she looks healthy now. I felt so angry at the anorexia comment. As someone who after over a decade struggling with mental illness is finally recovering, I can say that one of the most hurtful things you can say to someone with a mental illness is something trying to invalidate their struggles I'm so happy that Lindsey got better and shares her story so people will know they are not alone and that they can get better

Honestly I'd love to see some of these people even try and do half the stuff Lindsey and the others do. No one is gonna make you watch or listen to their stuff, if you don't like it don't listen/watch it. Also I think she's beautiful inside and out, I've been to multiple concerts and she's an amazing performer. Lastly, it's hard sometimes to fight those voices in your head, that's why seeing people like this and watching their videos, and also having great friends and loved ones can make it easier. When I am super depress, or angry I just want to listen to your music because it put me in a better mood. You openly talk about God, and you have help me get back into my faith several times when I was losing hope in it. I can't thank you enough for the Artemis album because it hugely relates the depression I am going through which is accepting the new version of myself and how badly people broken me through the years with harsh words like this one. That is such a powerful song and music in so many way. I never heard about Switchfoot before but I'll definitely start to listen to them, however I was a fan of Lindsey from the minute I heard her for the first time. She has a real gift and has touched so many lives by doing what she loves no matter how hard the critics were. I went to her "brave enough tour" when I was a senior in highschool. At that time she had lost Gavi and her father (and my father was sick as well) it made me connect so much more to her. Everything she does is just so heartfelt that it brings tears to my eyes even if it's happy music. She is amazing and I'll never stop loving her. 🌹

I’ve never heard of her until switchfoot announced they were doing a song with her. She killed it, and switchfoot still sounds legit. They never tend to put out a bad song. Also, I definitely think I’m gonna start listening to her more. God has definitely given all of them a special talent

This year has been one of the hardest i have ever faced, i lost my best friend to a hit and run, and one of the few things that has made it bearable, has been listening to and watching Lindsey. Her music the way she moves expresses so much, and anyone who would say other wise is a fool.

Your violin playing and the way you pull violin and edm music together is genius. Put all of those things together and the types of videos you make are beyond words. You are truly talented and one of a kind. You look nothing like a meth addict honey...people are gonna say mean things and do things when your on tbe right path..they are distractions from what your calling is upon this earth. I have just heard of you in the last few months. One my favorite instruments to listen to is the violin. I'm always amazed of the talented violinists, you take the cake! I love the way you play and not afraid to be a non-traditional violinist! I don't listen to critics on anything, the fans know what they like. Just keep up what you're doing!

I want you to know that this song of yours just made my day. Because i'm living with the constant struggling of being a dreamer one with ambition of a better world. Because i don't really know sometimes why i continue to fight when the others don't understand my point of view and it seems i'm all alone. One of the nice things about jerks who wanna put you down using words so foul it almost feels like it could break you is this; They are always going to be on one side of a screen, one side of a coin, one-sided perspective on life; funny thing is this is merely a projection of their own inadequacy and insecurity and where they are in their life; stuck in the same. Lindsey Stirling especially and Switchfoot are capturing the essence of what life embodies, evolution and resolve, sound, precise, and their provision of how dynamic an industry can become is only marked by well crafted and diverse pieces. I have been a fan of these two for so long, Switchfoot was one of the first rock bands I became obsessed with right along with DC Talk and Newsboys. Lindsey Stirling has been a wonderful source of music and joy for me since her first song became viral long ago. She's now something my daughters and I get to share, enjoy and dance to all the time and has led them to want to learn the violin. Keep up, all of you! Never stop! Christ is using both of you to encourage otehrs, uplift others, and praise His name!
What you guys did with that music video was POWERFUL! I remember learning in therapy to become aware of the script/verbal soundtrack that played in my head as a narration to my daily life. Once I was aware of what that internal monologue was saying, I could make the choice to "change the tape", as my therapist put it, to turn away from the damaging lies I learned in my abusive childhood and teens and not let those destructive words dictate my feelings and choices. It's STILL something I have to be proactive about, or I fall back into old patterns. THANK YOU for this video that underscores that concept. I hope it leads many people to an "aha!" moment and some profound change.
Lindsey, you brought the joy of the stringed instruments back into my life. I bought myself an electric cello just so I could play a few of your songs! I hope to be able to play with you some day!! Okay, it's true, that comment was very mean. But they also aren't just some "unknown" person. They are a real person, and they are not actually a monster. The people who hurt us the most and are the meanest usually need the most love. This person (not monster) probably hasn't had much love in their life or is insecure themselves. Yeah people don't realize that anorexic is mental illness that you can't see and by saying "she too fat for that" must of been real triggering. She is a brave person for being so open about it.
The thing is I've been even skinnier, but without trying to lose weight. Just cause someone is naturally thin despite eating all the junk they like does not mean they have an eating disorder, same as when someone is fat they might be eating very little and doing everything in their power to kill the extra pounds, and the weight will still be there no matter what. Chubby or skinny does not automatically mean mind problem.
Having a disordered view of people doesn't make them a monster. People probably treated them wrong originally and calling them names just makes it worse.

They've done everything from hard rock to pop punk to acoustic pop to electronic to blues, etc often combining multiple elements of these different genres in completely different ways in different songs.

She went on a Mormon mission in New York City for a year and half with little money and all heart to try to help people without expecting anything in return... She is helping people with hard financial times because of the CoronaVirus, to pay their bills...
I've been a supporter/ fan of Lindsey Sterling since 6th grade. I graduate this year. Moon trance and crystalize is still in my iPod with an old album of hers lol. A lot of musicians stop playing after a while, I'm so glad to see Lindsey still playing! 🙌
When I was growing up, the violin was my main instrument, funny thing about that though. It was already an obsolete instrument. No one wanted it, so I took it in school. Now, thanks to Lindsey, it has been put back on the radar as a worthwhile instrument. That people could think what she does is a disgrace or horrible? Obviously never grew up in pain or tears, because they where considered obsolete and worthless as a Violin player. So for that, she has my support hands down, and I am more then grateful that she never gave up at all when people turned mean. Both her and Switchfoot are awesome! Keep it up all of you, and if anyone does read this, and you are thinking of playing the Violin, I hope you too will find as much joy in playing it, as I did, even in the hard times.

Last night I genuinely had a mental breakdown. I felt like nothing I was doing was right and that I'd never be able to be enough. Voices were screaming at me "You're not enough." "You'll never be enough." "You'll never amount to anything." "No matter how hard you try, it will never be enough." My daughter emily has been listening to her since she was little and we've seen her live! She would only sleep to Lindsey and still to this day we look forward and litterally stop whatever we are doing just to see her new videos! We have family nights pretending to be her! I agree that she's doing really good work, but I would bet that even Ms. Stirling would give credit to several other violin players who have been pushing boundaries of what a violin can do for years. Rejuvenating yes, but as part of a larger whole of talented musicians who have not all been able to get as much fame as she has. Spread the love around a bit, eh?

Meanwhile, Lindsey already left a mark in our culture, and rightfully so, inspiring all kinds of musicians, composers and singers to create their own channels. The sad truth of the matter is that humanity seems to be forgetting the concept of unconditional kindness. Lindsey and Switchfoot, both of you are equally amazing and talented, and as someone who has dealt with self-hatred before, I can testify that there hasn't been a single insult I've heard that I haven't told myself before. Lindsey Stirling is one of the greatest talents I have had the pleasure to listen to. The positive energy that she radiates has kept me alive for many years......... I live on the wet cold streets of Seattle. I have a heart condition that gets more expensive every year. All the people that dislike her music just need more time to look at themselves..........that is very hard to do and a lot of them take the negative road. Lindsey has overcome adversity in her life. People should look at that.

Although it's actually important to listen to actual constructive criticism. It can be easy to put all of it into one basket in an attempt to deal with it, I see this happen all the time. Like I am pretty sure I have made a constructive criticism comment about the direction of the newer music videos of hers a while ago, about some elements from the older style I miss, which was entirely my opinion but it wasn't just criticizing for the sake of it.

Anybody notice that as the song went from the negative comments to the positive ones that they changed clothes? They went from black clothes to signify the darkness of some people, to white/light clothes to signify the light/happiness that people get from listening to their music. Such a beautiful and easily missed way that you can tell of the tone shift. At least that's what I got out of it. Both of y'all, just keep making your music and do your best to ignore the negative people in this world.

Wait Lindsey's music is cold and heartless? When I listen to her playing I legit just close my eyes and see the hues of the colors that are representations of the emotions in the song.
Seriously. The heart she puts into her music is what drew me to her in the first place. Even back when she was just doing video game covers, you could hear how much she loved playing music in every note. Add in watching her move, losing herself to the music... Heartless is the least applicable description I can think of.

When ever I was down in the dumps I would listen to your songs because they would always cheer me back up. Last year I almost fell into depression what kept me from falling into depression was listening to your songs which kept my head up and return to my normal self once again. This is the tragedy of social media: things a normally decent person would never say aloud in the presence of another suddenly seem appropriate to post in the relative anonymity of a chat room or comment box. For me, this video is powerful in its own right, but is made magical by the combined talents of Switchfoot and Lindsey. I’ve respected them all for so many years. If anything positive has come of the online hazing of years past,it’s that finally society accepts that mental illness is a reality to more than a random few, anxiety and depression are commonplace in varying levels, and that speaking out to say “I’m not alright” is finally being listened to.
Keep up the good work! By doing a little good every day, you make it a better world.

I felt so angry at the anorexia comment. As someone who after over a decade struggling with mental illness is finally recovering, I can say that one of the most hurtful things you can say to someone with a mental illness is something trying to invalidate their struggles

Honestly I'd love to see some of these people even try and do half the stuff Lindsey and the others do. No one is gonna make you watch or listen to their stuff, if you don't like it don't listen/watch it. Also I think she's beautiful inside and out, I've been to multiple concerts and she's an amazing performer. Lastly, it's hard sometimes to fight those voices in your head, that's why seeing people like this and watching their videos, and also having great friends and loved ones can make it easier. If we all were beaten down by and took to heart that which is said by the muck of society, nobody would ever rise up to shine like you have. The world is in a dark place at the moment and without the few brilliant and shining lights like you Lindsey, I do not doubt that it would have descended into something much worse already. I am a firm believer that music is the counterbalance to negative emotion, I've suffered from untreated depression since I was eight and I'm going to be twenty nine at the end of this month. Music has been my saving grace in my darkest of times more times than I would like to admit and your music has been a huge part of that for me for many years.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving me from my darkness the countless times that you unknowingly have. Don't ever let others drag you down because they can't handle your brilliance, shine on and continue to bring light to the world like you have been. You'll never know when you might be the light that saves somebody at their darkest moment.

That is such a powerful song and music in so many way. I never heard about Switchfoot before but I'll definitely start to listen to them, however I was a fan of Lindsey from the minute I heard her for the first time. She has a real gift and has touched so many lives by doing what she loves no matter how hard the critics were. I went to her "brave enough tour" when I was a senior in highschool. At that time she had lost Gavi and her father (and my father was sick as well) it made me connect so much more to her. Everything she does is just so heartfelt that it brings tears to my eyes even if it's happy music. She is amazing and I'll never stop loving her. 🌹

So, in that regard yes, one can reward criminals by turning them into media stars. This year has been one of the hardest i have ever faced, i lost my best friend to a hit and run, and one of the few things that has made it bearable, has been listening to and watching Lindsey. Her music the way she moves expresses so much, and anyone who would say other wise is a fool.

Lindsey specifically. I have a love for music. My uncle is a famous fiddle player Doug Kershaw. I've watched your videos and hear you play. You are graceful, so beautiful and your voice is beautiful. Your violin playing and the way you pull violin and edm music together is genius. Put all of those things together and the types of videos you make are beyond words. You are truly talented and one of a kind. You look nothing like a meth addict honey...people are gonna say mean things and do things when your on tbe right path..they are distractions from what your calling is upon this earth. You are a light in this world. Right now we need that. Don't listen to the people who are famous, rich, poor, creative or non Creative when they are negative. I have just heard of you in the last few months. One my favorite instruments to listen to is the violin. I'm always amazed of the talented violinists, you take the cake! I love the way you play and not afraid to be a non-traditional violinist! I don't listen to critics on anything, the fans know what they like. Just keep up what you're doing!

It is hard to live with the disregard of others when they say harsh words that comes through our hearts like knife and arrows ...(even if they potentially don t mean it for real sometimes).
I want you to know that this song of yours just made my day. Because i'm living with the constant struggling of being a dreamer one with ambition of a better world. Because i don't really know sometimes why i continue to fight when the others don't understand my point of view and it seems i'm all alone. Well your song, and your violon skills (that are amazing, Lindsey Thanks so much for your hard work on each of your songs that doesn t always tingle in my heart but that i know you make with all your mind and forces into it) just gave me what i needed to continue making voice for my own choices.

One of the nice things about jerks who wanna put you down using words so foul it almost feels like it could break you is this;
They are always going to be on one side of a screen, one side of a coin, one-sided perspective on life; funny thing is this is merely a projection of their own inadequacy and insecurity and where they are in their life; stuck in the same.
Lindsey Stirling especially and Switchfoot are capturing the essence of what life embodies, evolution and resolve, sound, precise, and their provision of how dynamic an industry can become is only marked by well crafted and diverse pieces.
I am blown away from the mere idea they exist let alone the pleasure of seeing them here.
I can't speak for anyone I don't know, but on my behalf, they are an Honour to be around.
I have been a fan of these two for so long, Switchfoot was one of the first rock bands I became obsessed with right along with DC Talk and Newsboys. Lindsey Stirling has been a wonderful source of music and joy for me since her first song became viral long ago. She's now something my daughters and I get to share, enjoy and dance to all the time and has led them to want to learn the violin. Keep up, all of you! Never stop! Christ is using both of you to encourage otehrs, uplift others, and praise His name!
Whoever hated on Lindsey are just jealous that she's much more successful and talented, it makes me so sick that those people could say that to her.
What you guys did with that music video was POWERFUL! I remember learning in therapy to become aware of the script/verbal soundtrack that played in my head as a narration to my daily life. Once I was aware of what that internal monologue was saying, I could make the choice to "change the tape", as my therapist put it, to turn away from the damaging lies I learned in my abusive childhood and teens and not let those destructive words dictate my feelings and choices. It's STILL something I have to be proactive about, or I fall back into old patterns. THANK YOU for this video that underscores that concept. I hope it leads many people to an "aha!" moment and some profound change.

This was just so, so affecting.
Lindsey, you brought the joy of the stringed instruments back into my life. I bought myself an electric cello just so I could play a few of your songs! I hope to be able to play with you some day!! Switchfoot has always been a favorite of mine. Anytime I've needed an uplifting message, you always end up playing on either the radio or my RUclips Playlist right when I need to hear it. ❤

Over the years I have learned the most important thing about life and I teach it to my children. Be who you are and never be afraid to show it. If someone has a problem with it then that is there problem not yours because "being Normal" is a false phrase. There is no such thing as normal. Also Lindsey you where one of the inspirations for my son to join his school's symphonic band years ago. And because of that musician's continue to be made because of artists like yourself.

The people who hurt us the most and are the meanest usually need the most love. This person (not monster) probably hasn't had much love in their life or is insecure themselves. Yeah people don't realize that anorexic is mental illness that you can't see and by saying "she too fat for that" must of been real triggering. She is a brave person for being so open about it.
The thing is I've been even skinnier, but without trying to lose weight. Just cause someone is naturally thin despite eating all the junk they like does not mean they have an eating disorder, same as when someone is fat they might be eating very little and doing everything in their power to kill the extra pounds, and the weight will still be there no matter what. Chubby or skinny does not automatically mean mind problem.
Having a disordered view of people doesn't make them a monster. People probably treated them wrong originally and calling them names just makes it worse.

@@matthewdavis418 Even more so, Switchfoot are probably one of the most versatile bands out there. They've done everything from hard rock to pop punk to acoustic pop to electronic to blues, etc often combining multiple elements of these different genres in completely different ways in different songs.
Her albums sound cohesive, but some folks get lost in that idea.

Yep, cold and heartless, Lindsey.... right...... Lindsey is 100% HEART..... I read her book. She went on a Mormon mission in New York City for a year and half with little money and all heart to try to help people without expecting anything in return... Whether you believe in reglion, the Mormon faith, etc...... you have to respect her for her beliefs and her willingness to help people. As of now, she is helping people with her Upside Fund. She is helping people with hard financial times because of the CoronaVirus, to pay their bills...

I've been a supporter/ fan of Lindsey Sterling since 6th grade. I graduate this year. Moon trance and crystalize is still in my iPod with an old album of hers lol. A lot of musicians stop playing after a while, I'm so glad to see Lindsey still playing! 🙌

When I was growing up, the violin was my main instrument, funny thing about that though. It was already an obsolete instrument. No one wanted it, so I took it in school. Now, thanks to Lindsey, it has been put back on the radar as a worthwhile instrument. That people could think what she does is a disgrace or horrible? Obviously never grew up in pain or tears, because they where considered obsolete and worthless as a Violin player. So for that, she has my support hands down, and I am more then grateful that she never gave up at all when people turned mean. Both her and Switchfoot are awesome! Keep it up all of you, and if anyone does read this, and you are thinking of playing the Violin, I hope you too will find as much joy in playing it, as I did, even in the hard times.
