I've been haunted by kumquats for nearly two decades because of this game. I've never seen them, nor heard of them since I played this game. I've made it a life goal to sample some of this divine fruit before I leave this mortal plane.
This is exactly why I just looked it up, I couldn’t remember if it was a dream or what, but I remember specifics about the game just couldn’t piece it all together!😂❤️
My brain was working SOOO HARD to dig this up from the depths of my memory it was actually a challenge to remember this even though i knew it was there somewhere. And each little bit of it that came back was like a moment of enlightenment, this is nostalgia in its purest form for me.
I legitimately thought i made this game up in my head. I would try so many times to explain a game to people where there was a carousel horse turned into multiple types of horses until it ultimately became a unicorn and NOBODY COULD ANSWER ME
ME TOO! I've been asking my family about the SpongeBob carnival game, but they always got super confused. I thought it was a Spongebob game because of the mouse reminds me of sandy the squirrel.
OMG SAME! I tried explaining to my mom “the game with the carnival and rabbit and I think there was a hippo also I think we lived in a treehouse and it was on my grandmas old old old computer that she let us use and it was like a dvd or cd game or something! You know that game?” And she was like “what?”And I said it again and she said “did you read in it?” I said yeah and she said “oh was it reader rabbit?” I was like YES THATS IT! I had thought I made it up as well!
This is beyond nostalgia, this is literally a flashback to some of my earliest memories ever, it's a strange but happy feeling being able to remember the days where life was nothing but joy and adventure.
MY LIFE AS A CHILD!!!!! Literally every-time someone says the word 'kumquat' i always say 'it's a fruit!' ha, it's not even a voluntary action my body just does it (;
I played this all the time around the age of 4. I especially enjoyed the "Crazy Costumes" and "Body Builders" portion. Maybe that explains my RUclips channel. LOL.
I’m glad you enjoyed it, and did something interesting with your life!😄(I was lead artist on this game for The Learning Company, and worked on about 30 more including Tomb Raider III.). When Mattel Interactive bought TLC out, and laid us all off 6 months later I got the crazy idea in my head of going to art school, got into 6 grants/scholarships to SAIC, graduated with a BFA in 3 years, and that was effectively the end of my art career!😂 My portfolio was destroyed moving en route to NY before I applied to MFA programs there, never got the MFA that I intended to get to teach college, and now all I do is work grueling hours by day, and paint by night. Went viral over on TikTok last year with some of my sketchbooks, and paintings, but have nowhere the followers that you do. Again-KUDOS! Keep doing all the amazing things you do! Cheers- Jameson
Crazy Costumes was the best part. I have a story to share with you. I remember Reader in a spacesuit saying he would “boldly go where no rabbit has gone before.” Then I read an ad in a magazine, probably for some brand of yogurt, saying “where no fruit has gone before.” I had no clue that Star Trek existed. I just assumed it was a popular phrase. A while later, I was playing around and I put on a bike helmet that was laying somewhere, and posed in front of a mirror, saying I would “boldly go where no girl has gone before!” Mom still remembers this; she giggled. Thirteen or so years later, I became a Trekkie. 🥰 Edit: I played the revamped version with the carnival tickets.
Dear lord the amount of nostalgia I have right now... I can see the room I played this in. I can hear the sounds coming out of the old speakers. I remember the disk I ran this off of. I remember the buzz of the monitor when I turned it on. I remember the sounds of Windows when the computer booted up. I remember the chair I sat in. MEMORIES
After reading the comments it’s amazing to me how much of an elusive memory this is for everyone and how we all remember the SAME minute details about it. Wild
Ok, this is thrilling my soul!!! Had been niggling my brain for ages!! Thank you!! Does anyone on here remember a game where there was a clock part, and they say "Tick tock, tick tock, click on the clock!"???!!
100% forgot about this game. For some reason I thought of old computer games. Then I remembered a game with a rabbit. Glad I found this. Huge spark in my memory. Recognize the voices and everything.
These games are literally my entire childhood. These games were all me and my siblings wanted for Christmas and birthdays; we had a collection of well over 20 of them! All the reader rabbit games, all the school house games with Frankie and Eleanor and Keisha and the rest, the math games with Botley the robot, the around-the-world games with that bear… holy shit. These are the deepest recesses of my childhood memory, guys. I had plans to write today, but instead I’m watching through every video I can find on every jumpstart game possible.
There are so many variations on these Reader Rabbit game that there should be a page showing the differences on each version. There are like three versions of this game I know of.
I liked how you did the side activities (Zany Zoom-In, Hide-and-Seek Art Gallery, Crazy Costumes and Body Builders) in the middle after completing level 2 of each main activity, like it would be an intermission before resuming the main activities starting at level 3, since every activity has 4 levels each.
I just randomly thought of this game, and after alot of searching on Google, I found out what it was called and now I'm here 😂 Such good memories.. I used to play this game over and over when I was little
This is everything. I am just going through my memory and trying to find all the games I used to play as a kid. Pajama Sam is at least avaliable on steam, so I had to grab that too. xD - Thank you for Uploading!
For some reason as a child the Wonder Pony frightened me (but then so did just about everything). Not the pony itself (well, not really?) but because the idea of being stuck like that, completely immobile, for the rest of eternity if Reader Rabbit hadn't come along and freed her? That is some nightmare fuel! Doesn't help that I never managed to free her in my game. She sounded so pleading, too, or at least in my memories she did. Here she just sounds... idk, like your typical kid's cartoon character I guess lol. She doesn't sound too unhappy about her predicament. For some reason I recall the screen being dark, too, not a bright teal that makes my eyes hurt lol.
I decided to google the words of one of these songs that have been stuck in my head for literal decades because I could not remember the name of this game. So glad this exists! It’s unlocked so many memories. Insane how I remember way more of this game/songs than I do my childhood 😅
I am so fucking happy right now because I was able to find this game again. It’s been at the back of my mind on and off for the past few years, and I’ve never been able to find it before. I just remembered the pony trapped in the carousel and the mini game where you make the food. I’m 20 years old and I never thought I’d get so much serotonin from finding a game I used to play as a small child 😭
Played this as a kid. One day my siblings and I decided to play until we beat the game. We were expecting an epic kingdom with more games and experiences. But no! The mouse just rides off and roll credits!!! I’m still sour over it 😤 🤣
I remember playing this, Kindergarten, and even 1st grade when I was at Beatty Elementary School in Buena Park. I had so much fun and kindergarten is definitely my favorite of them all. Being a child is great.
Taken me so long to remember this! All I could think of was something to do with keys and the purple monster's hand in the ABC Diner and that wasn't much to go on, was just constantly googling '90's educational pc games' hahah, finally found it! Used to love this game!
I can’t believe it. I’ll be straight up right now I have been searching for YEARS for this game. I loved it as a kid but I couldn’t remember what it was. I thought, did I imagine it???? Nah no way, can’t be. Did anyone else on the planet play this game?????? I can’t believe i found it. Literally searching for like 5 years minimum. It’s how I learned what tofu was. I was like, if I see tofu, it’s the game.
Yes I have very fond memories of this game. I wish they made games like these nowadays for kids. I’d love for my kid to play a game as educational and fun as this one.
I finally found this game OMG. I was on the nostalgia side of tiktok and it reminded me of putt putt and pajama sam, I was thinking about this one specific game I played all the time but for some reason I couldn’t remember much about it 😂 I finally found it , which is this game right here, and I’m literally emotional right now because this was my favorite game as a kid and I finally found it 🥹 nostalgia is a crazy feeling.
I clicked to remember why I only wanted to play the parade game and nothing else and now I remember, so thank you ^^ This game was like a wild feverdream in my memory
Am I the only one who is slightly freaked out by this? I used to play this game all the time, but it always felt a little eerie. Just the silent, musicless backgrounds with the lonely voices and limited sound effects and occasional short spurts of music... that carrousel haunts me in my sleep...

You have no idea how much this resonates with me, I'd run around the house yelling "kumquats", I need to taste my childhood.
Im haunted by 'Quince! Thats a fruit'
I was exactly the same with quince!!!
Don’t leave!
Hahahaha I know them from this game as well

Yes! I'm not the only one. I loved this game

I have never related to a comment more jesus christ, this is so specific but I had these exact same thoughts seeing this video

Exactly! I loved listening to the silly noises for getting them wrong
I have a lot of nostalgia on this game
The sounds alone send me back, I'm going to cry
as soon as ed the dog spoke i was like HOLY FUCK

Curtis Allred Same LOL
For me it was how he said the word Turkey!
Yeah I used to play this a kid. Make 1 mistake in the ABC diner and that’s what you get..... MUSH!

ABC diner was my fave, always laughed at how he said “turkEY” lol
ME TOO!!! Because my brother and I played this game almost every day as little kids, as adults “turKEY!” is now an inside joke 🤣🤣🤣

and the voice clip comes out of Mitt the monkey's mouth when he says turkey, they did fix it in the carnival version if i recall correctly
I think the Waiter, Be Careful was really funny 😁 😂
Thanks for playing all of this for us. Can’t have been very pleasant as an adult, but it was nice seeing this game again.
