I'm using this as reference for a model of a character who uses a Shinai sword. I needed info on the structure, materials, and sounds of the sword; all of which are present. Thank you for sharing such details in the video.

I am familiar with the Bokken, I've seen it many times, but the Shinai I have never seen in person myself, its quite interesting to see it is a set of four bamboos reinforced by a Tsuba and ropes as well, and it seems to be quite well made, both the Chinese one and of course the Japanese one as well. I'd personally go for a Bokken for training though, I think its just overall a better option.

Something that is wonderful about Hema is that they can have both safe and realistic swords. A feder for example is usually weighted, balanced, designed almost identical to a regular longsword and is still safe enough to do full speed and contact sparring when in full gear. I really kenjutsu styles had something comparable, but it seems that due to the design of the katana, it's hard to make an accurate and safe sword in one. Hopefully someone cracks the code
